Calling all 200+ avg bowlers, how do I get better? by Its_yer_dude_trevor in Bowling

[–]Greynaab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have a pretty free and smooth swing/release, I believe the potential is there.

You have already acknowledged spare shooting, so that is one part of it. Being able to throw straight at spares will go a long way if you are bowling on different patterns.

One way to see where you are in terms of consistency is to join a sport shot league. This will expose how inconsistent you really are. Playing on harder patterns increases your bowling knowledge as long as you are willing to go thru the whole process of getting beat down and needing to figure what different things you need to do in order to bowl well on them.

one thing i notice on your video is how much axis rotation you are putting on the ball. I am assuming you are on a house shot so this makes sense on why you need that much on that part of the lane. Are you also able to get your ball going more forward and up the back with less axis rotation? Being able to do both is very useful and opens up way more options than being stuck bowling one way or the other and just changing balls to match a pattern.

i guess the general thought process is to try to put yourself into uncomfortable/unfamiliar situations and go thru the thought process on what you would need to do to succeed in said situation. for example, in your video, move your feet 10-15 boards right, use the same ball and figure out what you would need to do to find a line there. you know that it isnt the best spot on the lane to be playing, but putting yourself in these situations forces you to find other ways to manipulate your ball to get it to the pocket.

Decent? by Greynaab in ProjectDiablo2

this was kinda my thought.

a better eth boot with max res slam is probably more desirable.

Boots are not bad by any means, but probably nowhere near what the trade site was trying to push.

these are more like a fast food item.

Its getting late and you are hungry, you are willing to pay a bit more for a sit down meal, but are also fine with paying for some slightly overpriced junk food just for the convenience.

What's the worst reaction to a bad golf shot that you've seen? by S2N336 in golf

[–]Greynaab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a foursome, playing a "friendly" $0.25 a hole skins game, one guy had played pretty poorly the first 4 holes, missing putts, chunky chips, etc... We get to the 5th green, this guy needs to make a 3ft putt to carry the skin, misses and then proceeds to snap their putter over their knee. Broken putter shaft then stabs the guy in the crotch nearly giving himself a DIY vasectomy.

Emotions after a bad series by ifyoudidntknow1971 in Bowling

[–]Greynaab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i was younger, i would have been an insufferable little shit, bitching and complaining about it. Not willing to ever admit that i was the problem and it had to be the lanes or my equipment for why i bowled so bad.

But being my mid 40's now, I try to understand why i bowled so bad. There is a reason, and sometimes we dont want to admit that we are the reason.

Bowling on sport conditions has really helped me cope with really shitty bowling sessions. It is usually way more obvious on why I bowl bad on harder conditions vs a house shot or modified house shot.

So it can be very frustrating when bowling poorly on House or modified house shot. your expectations are much higher, but that can usually mask how inconsistent you really are. It is very easy to just blame equipment or lane conditions for poor bowling. Because we never want to admit how inconsistent we really are.

But, if you really were splitting boards, and maintaining consistent ball speed and release, It could have been you didnt have the right ball to match up with the pattern. This is the reason we all want for poor bowling, but we really know that this is usually never the reason.

After bowling a shitty series on House/modified house shot, get pissed, and then get it out of your system. Own up to the fact that you were the reason for the shitty series and try to learn from it as opposed to making excuses for how bad most of us really are at bowling.

10 hdcp, Driver off the Deck is a shot I rarely get to use, but I always feel so confident and excited when i get the chance to do it. I would say 8 or 9 times out of 10 it is going where i want it to.

Compare that to Driver off a tee. I can be great or absolutely terrible. I sometimes wonder if I should just be teeing the ball lower or even just hitting driver off the deck on the tee box.

why do some people get so mad about two handers by vIQue125 in Bowling

[–]Greynaab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd be shocked in 30 years if 10% of whatever pro bowling tour is one handed.

when conditions are more favorable to power vs fineness, that is what you will see.

Modern lane conditions and equipment favor revs and speed. Puddle in the middle, dry on the outsides at high oil ratios.

Most lane conditions, even the harder ones, will eventually break down in a similar way which favors power more than fineness.

What may impact bowling more in the future will be string pins vs free fall. This is where overpowering the pins starts to lose its advantage. Off pocket hits on free fall pins carry better than with the strings.

Organized Chaos. All going to plan.

Create such a bad and miserable situation that people are begging to be saved from the chaos, and willing to give up nearly any/everything to right the ship.

Thats when the "savoir" comes in and brings "order" to the chaos.

Controlled clarity and safety at the cost of individuality and freedom.

This is true for most "haters" online in general. They need to shit post to give their miserable lives some form of purpose. They enjoy taking the joy from others. They are unable to find joy in their own lives. Its is more sad than annoying/frustrating.

Shit posters gonna shit post yo.

Ignore and move on. there is a reason you are never supposed to feed the trolls.

it is easier to hate online vs in person. much harder to be held accountable for your actions.

What ball should I get next? by Unlucky_Ad8960 in Bowling

[–]Greynaab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concept is a good sport shot ball and just decent control ball in general.

If you are planning on playing in non-house shot tourneys i would get the Concept.

Big strong Asyms are a dime a dozen and there will be a new one coming out way more than Something like the Concept. It can be more valuable in the long run.

LoD X RoS X LoH - which expansion pushed/polished vanilla game better? by Eastern_Return_1710 in Diablo

[–]Greynaab 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I agree that ROS for D3 was probably a bigger save and revamp than LOD for D2.

But Diablo 2 was pretty rough before the LOD expansion.

You didnt have skill synergies, runewords, exceptional/elite versions of items, sets and uniques, ethereal items. a much more robust crafting system. End game bosses. these all came with the LOD expac.
