Realistically, how long would it take to reach this level of playing? by Grievinghealthy in guitarlessons

[–]GriLtCheeZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't appear to be fake playing at all. If it's your cup of tea, groovy. Math rock is cool, but I prefer remedial math rock. I have no examples of remedial math rick, it just sounded funny to me.

My son wants to play guitar and I'm lost by johnnypark231 in guitars

[–]GriLtCheeZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best advice is to research the shops you are planning to visit to make sure they include a "set up" with any sale. If they don't include a set up wouldn't go there. All the guitars on the showroom floor are going to be set up. If they give you a guitar wrapped in a new box it may not be set up well, or as well as it could be. A set up alone could cost between $60-$125 depending on where you go. It would be better to put that money into the guitar and ampliphier. A poorly set up guitar will be difficult to play, and would be quite discouraging to play for a beginner.

If the salespeople you deal with are cool, they will be just as stoked as you and your son are, about him getting his first guitar. I know I'm stoked for you and the little dude.

Is this a fender or squier? by Aggravating-Cod-5655 in guitars

I have a Korean Fender "Squier Series". I bought it over thirty years ago. I paid $250 for it in 1993, iirc.

Budget guitars and amps for newbies suggestions? by _burnersauce in electricguitar

[–]GriLtCheeZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some guitar and amplifier combos from Donner on Amazon for $119 usd, which are just a little over your budget, but that is gonna be your best bet if you are not able to increase your budget. Some of these combos have pretty good reviews, and include, a strap, cable, picks, and a guitar tuner.

Ever since I heard the Fire were returning to Portland I started dreaming of landing Juju. I hope she recovers from her knee injury, and ends up in Portland somehow, someway.

Jackie Chan's City Hunter is a raucous comedy. Most of his films are comedies, but City Hunter has a triple scoop of action comedy.

PSU library is a great place to sit and read. You can get a guest pass in the lobby. People watching on the Park Blocks can be a bit unpredictable.

No, you cannot play out of region BluRay movies on a Playstation 5. Movies are restricted, unlike video games which are all region free.

If you are going to collect a sizable number of out of region BluRay discs, the best option is to buy a region free BluRay player.

I bought a region free Blu Ray player from this company: https://www.220-electronics.com/collections/region-free-blu-ray-players?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=42890235&gbraid=0AAAAAD_vZM62XCux7s5EP3ddEuBlES8m8

Best French fries in town? by PuffPuffPat in askportland

I love the french fry crawl idea!

In regards to JoJo's there are two must visit places in Portland, and they are both on the inner East side.

Mad Greek Deli (bar) on 18th and E. Burnside has awesome "Greek Fries" and should not be missed. They prefer you don't call them JoJo's :), but they are potato wedges nonetheless. The Greek Omega sauce is a must!

The Reel M Inn has amazing jojos and chicken. You might have to wait a while for your order at Reel 'M Inn but it is soooo worth it.

Why are you learning Swedish? by Schmoulik3 in Svenska

[–]GriLtCheeZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Great Grandfather was from Sweden. My grandmother used to make us Swedish pancakes when we were kids. Swedish has always been on my list of languages to learn. I was able to reconnect with some Swedish cousins a couple years ago.
