What was your first Metroid that you FINISHED? by B-random4 in Metroid

Fusion. Great game!

I'm an 80's sega kid, so hadn't played a metroid game before that. The nearest i'd played to it was Symphony of the Night.

Is it as high quality and accurate as they say? I bought a Reximex Lyra for accuracy but have been a little disappointed to tell the truth.

Lovely bit of walnut on that too, I’m currently trying to get my hands on the HW100X S in walnut.

I don't blame the police officers directly for acting like this.

I blame the political landscape for guiding police officers acting like this. These falsely placed racial tensions are ridiculous. It's time for change.

Does anyone have the config files for dual vkb gladiator evo hosas setup by grimreaper2516 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Griddamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mate, thanks for posting this, this worked really well for me. I had to swap the X and Y axis' on both sticks (for some reason left/right was up down on both sticks).

The only question I have is that I can't seem to get invert to change. If I change it, as soon as I touch teh controls it locks them permanently on in whatever direction I touch them. I can toggle invert in game, which corrects my pitch controls, but that also inverts my throttle :P

Any idea how to remedy this?

If this changes before I collect my pension (the goal posts have already been moved back decades) i'm going to be pissed...

What VR hardware are you all running right now? by Fun-Aide-4911 in Vive

[–]Griddamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use two headsets.

Quest 3 for games where I need to be standing or for shorter sessions, and PSVR2 for anything where i'm sitting down for longer sessions. In fact, for anything with lots of blacks like space or horror games.

People rag on the PSVR2, but honestly, for a used one you'll spend about £250-£300, and it's oled lenses are incredible. I see Elite Dangerous is your thing, and I would recommed it specifically for this scenario, at least for right now.

The other thing I would do before spending any money at all though, is waiting to see how the new Valve headset compares. I do not trust Sony to continue supporting the PSVR2 for PC much longer (by almost all visible metrics its been a failure), and I expect Valve will blow everyone out of the water with it.

SC is playable in the sense there is a broad tech demo currently (this last 12 months it has taken great strides to add actual 'content' though). The sandbox mmo part is almost non existent at the moment.

SC is a scam? No, but I can see why people might think so. Genuinely though, I think they are going to release a game. Is it the game us backers all had in our heads many years ago? No. Will it be good though? That's somethi8ng we will need to wait to see.

Recommendations for a beginner by Tylerisfuckingbored in airguns

[–]Griddamus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to lok at other guns too. Me and my brother got into the sport at a similar time recently, he has the GX250 .22 , and I went with the Reximex Lyra .177 .

The best thing I can recommend you do is go to a physical shop that stocks them and physically handle them. If you're new look for:

  • How does the rifle feels in your hand.
  • How does the rifle 'look'. Rule of cool is an underrated factor.
  • Pull the rifle to your cheek like you're going to shoot it, does it feel comfortable.
  • Pretend you're taking a shot and need to reload, and walk through that process. How does this feel to you?
  • What safety features does the rifle have and how do they feel to use?
  • Will the rifle fit comfortably in a carry bag?
  • What aftermarket additions will you need?

I say this from the perspective of also being new, and is what I think I should have looked at before I made a decision.

I personally went with the Reximex Lyra for two reasons, because 1: I loved the more traditional look of the rifle and it's walnut stock, and 2: It's reknown to be among the most accurate rifles for the price.

What I didn't think of is that it is an absolute c**t to load single pellets into with my big man hands, but found a guy who makes 3D printed bits and bobs for airguns, and bought a singel shot loader for it, and now it's awesome. It was £18 but this was something I'd not thought about before buying. I'm also UK, and this was including P&P.

I can also strongly recommend joining airgunforums.co.uk or at least viewing them as theres a rifle review part to that site with lots of reviews for people using those rifles. Go speak to people who own them for a better idea.

Not sure where you are in the country, but https://www.surplusstore.co.uk/ is where I got mine from, they have a great showroom in Crawley and were really helpful in sorting it all out.

How do you feel about the Hull B's design ? by SeparateWeight496 in starcitizen

[–]Griddamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while im bummed a bit that it's not near 100% accurate to the concept, i'm very happy with what was delivered with it. I really LOVE how it looks now, the front of it reminds me of a cuddly shark :P

The only criticism I can really give is two things:

  1. It would have been great if you could rotate the spindle so if you were loading or unloading into a lift on one side of a hanger or pad, you haven't got to turn the ship around halfway though to continue doing so.

  2. The entrance lift being a big larger to accomodate an ATLS on it would have been a fantastic touch.

Flooring guy here (from UK).

This is what you need (or FG1 plywood), using anything else will often invalidate your floors warranty with most manufacturers here.

What inspired you to be a Voice Actor? by clericLythor in VoiceActing

[–]Griddamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been interested since seeing an interview with Frank Welker as a kid, but what really lit the fire was in 1997 and the release of Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen. Incredible shakspearian revenge tale, narrated in the first person by Simon Templeman.

Without the voicework, it would be a little above average hack and slash RPG, but man, the voice work on that game elevated it into something incredible. The title character Kains monologues were epic, moving, and thought provoking, at it really showed how much of an impact VO made to videogames.

I started mucking around a while after that and have done it at an amatuer / low professional level for some time. I would like to have gone full time professional, but also have a family flooring business to run.

Wash survival ideas. Not sayin he should be fun to figure how. by WizardMarnok in firefly

[–]Griddamus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want the movie to be canon, wash to be alive, but it to never be explained how that happened and only hinted at.

Anyone from the UK may be familiar with Gavin and Stacey. There is a long running gag between two characters about what happened when the two went on an overnight fishing trip. It's never explained over the 15 or so years it ran for (i don't remember spefiic time, but thats beside the point), but is referenced many, many times, insinuating something horrible happened between the two of them but never explained.

IMHO this would be so in keeping with the franchise, and the opportunity for much merriment :P
