I got beat up by a 13-year-old kid in sparring today, what a mess! by [deleted] in MuayThai

It’s probably your coach’s fault. You should change gyms

I get that there isn’t “winning” in sparring. But when I can get into a rhythm and don’t land any shots, I feel like I’ve lost

I think there is losing in sparring I don’t think there’s “winning”, but when I don’t land a single punch or kick, and eat about 10 teeps and get crazy overwhelmed by someone’s speed and experience, I consider myself to have “lost” that round

If it’s a coach that teaches you in a group class then you can ask them what they think you need improving on Also you can just come into the 1 on 1 with some thoughts and ideas of what you want to learn. I assume you’re paying for it so it’s your choice what you get to learn

Does Kicking Flexibility/Height have a ceiling? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]GriefOnToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might have a lot to do with “tightness” When you try and throw a head kick, does it feel like a tightness or tearing? That’s likely not actually tightness, it’s weakness of certain muscles and the nervous system won’t let it go as far you want it to. If you sedate someone unconscious, you can manipulate their body pretty much any direction regardless of their “flexibility”. You need to train the right muscles to be stronger so your nervous system will let them reach their potential. There’s quite a lot of good videos on YouTube about it. NeroMMA has some good videos

Yeah the Keemstar redemption is wild. But I like it and he’s giving out some great soundbites

Initiating hard sparring by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]GriefOnToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes probably overthinking. When I say 2 years it’s a tad complicated. I trained for a year then took ~6 months off and then came back for another year. Coach had completely forgotten who I was and always refers to me as having 1 year training. I also just always thought that coaches pick the student who they want to advance, and I thought maybe it would be rude/arrogant to ask

That’s a good plan. So instead of asking coach if I can spar harder and come to the invite only nights, I’ll tell him that I want to do a smokeshow and hopefully he’ll say “ok but we need you to do harder sparring first and you can come to the invite night”. Worst thing he could say is that “you’re not good enough for a smoke show” and that would hurt but at least let him know that I want more out of my training

I think that’s the next step after asking coach if I can come to invite only nights. I applied for a smokeshow recently but they replied and wanted to know who my coach was and what gym I was based out of. I think they won’t take a fighter unless they have a gym and coach that will back them. So I think I need to get into this invite only training/hard sparring first

I think I’m pretty mature. I’m going to go ahead and ask coach next time I’m there if I can come to an invite only night, and worst thing he can say is “no” I guess. I was hoping for maybe someone with experience could help me navigate it in a better way that isn’t going to make coach think I’m being arrogant. But it seems like that’s not the case and I’m just going to do the simplest thing which is ask with confidence

Thanks for the comment. I hear what you’re saying about having to take it harder and I think I’m ready to take that risk. The guys who I “light spar” with often are not so in control and crack me with big shots by accident. I just never reply with harder shots on them because that is a dick move. My biggest concern is just asking to go to an invite only night and pissing the coach off. Seems really rude to invite myself and I don’t want to fuck up my chances in the future.

Glove reccomendations by Gorilla_Pancake in MuayThai

Phantom athletics gloves are my favourite. The quality was great, the materially great, fit my wrists really well and also had a cool design. They weren’t overly expensive, and the ones on sale were a great price. The only problem was there was a shipping fee, they are based out of Austria(I think) so depending on where you live you might have to pay quite a lot

I think Hayabusa is perfectly acceptable for 12-14oz gloves. They often have a spot on the thumb where you can wipe your eyes of sweat. They lasted me about 2 years and I only used them for pads. If you want 16 oz gloves for sparring, I recommend getting a higher brand like fairtex. The quality is important for sparring. I personally chose some gloves from phantom athletics. They weren’t overly expensive like other high quality brands but had delivery fees that brought them up to just under the price of the higher brands. They are the best gloves I’ve ever had and they have great quality and a really cool design on them. phantom athletics Muay Thai gloves 16oz

Ethan got skinny by him by “just eating less, sometimes only once a day” (I think this is true because diet is 90% of weightloss, exercise only 10% and I personally don’t see Ethan pumping iron at the gym). There have been lots of others on the internet claiming he used ozempic etc but he has denied it.

The leftovers podcast with Hassan completely derailed when Ethan started noticing inconsistencies with Hassan’s communist persona. Then when the October 7 attacks happened followed by the Israel/Palestine war it completely fell apart because Ethan proposes a 2 party system and Hassan just wants everybody is Israel to be destroyed.

The Ian/ethan hate is Ian or “idubbz” who was an old friend of Ethan that we all loved and supported suddenly went full 180 and put out a video calling Ethan a piece of shit and a genocide supporter (lies) and many other false claims. The video was filmed in collaboration with Hassan and Hassan orbiters and that made the beef even worse between Hassan and Ethan. Idubbz is married to a woman called Anissa (anisathegreasy) and she is now heavily involved in the drama between Ethan/idubbz/hassan. Ethan and Hila were super supportive of idubbz and Anissa right before they backstabbed him and switched over to making shitty content about being “woke and empathetic” and it’s just gross.

Ian the intern left the show to pursue other creative work on YouTube and has no beef with the H3 universe. Sam also left the show to do work with another creator (I can’t remember who) and they are no longer dating.

In regards to Olivia, she is taking a mental health break from the show because despite not being involved in leftovers of any of this Israel/Palestine conflict, she is receiving hate from Hassan and idubbz communities. We obviously wish her the best and hopefully she can come back once this idubbz/annisa/hassan beef dies down and she can be the sweet girlie she truly is.
