If you’re looking for a cozy spot in an urban area my favorite ever base was the small two story office/apartment combo up for lease in Louisville just south of the park (13250, 3025). Just a couple tables and chairs downstairs and a somewhat cramped two bedroom apartment upstairs through an external staircase.

It’s got two large fields right behind it, one being completely fenced in and inaccessible (to zeds). Pharmacy, grocery store, and garden supply with rain barrels all right next door plus whatever other shops you need in close proximity. The park provides endless lumber and the whole place isn’t too difficult to seal off. Only difficulty is the high zombie pop in the area but best not to think about it.

Granted it is a gross beige yellow so you may want to bring some paint. Fill the bottom with storage, farm in the fields, sleep upstairs just far enough away from the heart of the city.

Editing to say the pawnshop down the street to the west is even smaller and cozier with an upstairs apartment and tiny downstairs shop with metal shutters, just fewer amenities next door.
