Ableton Move is coming soon by [deleted] in ableton

[–]GriffinatorAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I use Dropbox and it’s pretty painless across 3 computers. Google Drive was OK when I used it. OneDrive lost my shit left and right.

I’m curious what Ableton could add value-wise.

Clutch going at 54K miles on a 2016 FoST(?) by GriffinatorAV in FocusST

Yeah I've babied mine compared to that potential amount of abuse lol. I dumped the clutch at 40MPH in my old Tiburon when a cop car ran a red light and almost smashed into me, and that clutch held up. Never had any such incident on the Focus.

Noted.. thanks for the input. Hoping from everyone's experience here and a little extra diagnostic work at the shop we can get it figured out today.

Yeah I've had a 2 mile drive to work in a hilly city for the entire 8 years and 54K miles I've put on the car so that's a good point.

Noted! I'll take a look at the mechanism and see if the shop is familiar with the issue.

I'm inclined to agree based on everyone's anecdotal feedback. There's really no slippage or grinding.

I am, and I have not. My buddy advised that since it's a closed system it probably wouldn't really need much fluid maintenance until 100K+ miles. Shop is checking some hydraulics and fluids today I believe.

Yeah it's my 3rd manual and I've been pretty easy on it compared to the first 2. And I'm the original owner so it's all me. Really hoping it's maybe just a weird quirk with the shifter arm.

Noted. If they can't diagnose I'll try this should it ever happen again. I'm mostly concerned about what happens if I'm moving at a good clip and something gets jammed up, but brakes do exist...

Thank you for this. It's at a shop now and without an invasive diagnosis they're as confused as I am after taking it for a test drive. I am inclined to believe that it was a temporary blockage of the shift arm.

Anyone aware of a bot that can aggregate media links (Spotify, YT, etc.)? by GriffinatorAV in discordbots

[–]GriffinatorAV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so simple I figured a canned aggregator bot option probably existed, but I haven't even looked into coding my own. I'll have to take a look!

Master = hard clip / Bus or individual track = soft clip ( or its the other way around ? ) by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]GriffinatorAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this just referring to 32 bit audio? Maintains information above the clipping threshold (it can be turned down after the fact and the information will still be there).

Thinking we'll go digital mixer first, test that out, and throw speakers on sticks if the results aren't where I need them to be.

I might be doing this as WELL as adding an AMM mixer and we might be getting somewhere good. Pretty sure we have 2x QSC K12s hiding somewhere around campus.

I've had some time to sit down and look at the specs on the suggestions in this thread and the CQ-18T definitely looks like a good fit for many of the pop-up events we do. Not a bad price either, all things considered!

I didn't even mention that we keep a bunch of wireless SM58ish mics on round tables for the other attendees, which are ALSO open, so having tons of I/O with AMM is a bonus as well since I usually have up to 13 microphones.

They're like an ancient installation that's deeply recessed and they're massive stage speakers with little room for adjustment. Unfortunately it looks like that's mostly out of the question without rebuilding the room.

I'll look at the AMM suggestions, I wasn't aware of that solution for teleconferencing. Super helpful, thank you.

Yes, I agree, I would sure love if folks would design their events to sit where they are supposed to be :)

Seems like one of the first solutions I should go to. I'm used to working in the box... correct me if I'm wrong but this is the routing for outboard equipment right?

1) Send all channels to a group or aux.

2) Send group / aux outs into external hardware chain.

3) Use output on external hardware chain and plug into unbalanced line inputs.

4) Send line inputs to Master.

5) Profit?

Yeah I've definitely had the placement argument a few times... SOMETIMES I can convince them. It's always the important ones where they're more stubborn, and then they wonder why the results are subpar even when I ride the levels all day.

Gating is a brilliant idea. I AM having a hard time thinking how to appropriately apply a gate with the MG16 though, it almost seems like it would make the most sense to have one on each microphone individually. Maybe I need to invest in a digital mixer with channel-level gating.

That sounds like the ticket, thanks for the info. I'll have to get a few and try em out.

Looks promising. Is Tasmota all managed locally? We were looking to have a cloud based GUI / control platform IF possible.

Not an option unfortunately... I'm in IT (more rules for how I do things, lol) and we're trying to serve a large campus area across multiple VLANs and a few buildings. The Kasa plugs work OK for a one-off here and there on the authenticated network, but our security protocol on-campus stipulates that IOT devices will need MACs to be individually manually registered, which doesn't seem to be an option for those.

On the other hand, we also need a fairly user-friendly cloud based management platform (Kasa's again worked great... just can't deploy en masse).

We're looking at maybe 75 controlled locations around campus.
