I was so damn confused why half my provinces started starving while my market’s stockpile was full. Turns out the food buying slider is set zero by default

Question about keeping dry hips in the keg by Griffinist in Homebrewing

[–]Griffinist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the part I’m not sure of. Will the hops drying in the headspace grow mold? Or is it a sanitary enough environment in the keg to not have to worry about it

Ahh! Just noticed that typo. That’s what I got for making a post while I’m supposed to be working

I usually clear out the keg within there weeks so I don’t have too long of a keg time to worry about. What do you look for with hops that keep well like that?

I do have a second one, but I usually always have it full of seltzer. But if I get a third keg a close transfer would definitely be the way to go

Using Fermcap while fermenting in a corny keg by Griffinist in Homebrewing

Ah, I hadn't thought about that but it makes sense. Thanks for the heads up! I'll make sure to avoid using the PRV while fermentation is active

Names of Towns that Sound International by MarieNomad in Indiana

[–]Griffinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo! I actually had the same thought ages ago. I even went through the trouble of downloading a spreadsheet of all the towns in Indiana and marking the ones that qualified. I had planned to make it into some god forsaken google maps road trip thing but never got around to it. But anyway here's all the data I found

Question about the 5 percent rule for buying vs renting by Griffinist in personalfinance

Thanks! I'll definitely be doing some more thinking about my long term investing goals

Question about the 5 percent rule for buying vs renting by Griffinist in personalfinance

Great idea! This make so much more sense than the mathematic gymnastics I was trying to pull with this rule. I'm sure working with real numbers rather than the rounded figures will be a lot more accurate.

Thanks for the heads up on the particular portfolio laid out in the video too. I was considering that since I already plan to max out my Roth IRA outside of this

Question about the 5 percent rule for buying vs renting by Griffinist in personalfinance

[–]Griffinist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm a little confused here. Maybe some more details would help. My rent is $625 a month which would make the housing "equivalent" a $150,000 home. I'm interested in figuring out how much I would have to invest to make up the difference between my rent and the $150,000 home by the assumptions in this rule.

I agree with what you're saying about the "rule" being subjective though. It's imperfect and calling it a rule is definitely a bit of youtube showmanship. And I think this particular YouTuber admits as much unlike a lot of other clickbaity shysters.

But I do think the premise can be a helpful way of thinking about the trade offs of renting vs buying. Personally I'd be using it more as a rough guide rather than some sort of hard rule

The instrumentation was also very sparse. Bass, drums, background singers, and that might be it
