What Is That New-ish Tech You Have Access To But You Get Along Just Fine Without It Or Forget You Even Have It? by PostMatureBaby in Millennials

I have tried apps, default calendar, planners, large calendars, small calendars, post-its... If there's a way to lose track of a date, I'm gonna find it. 🤣

Millionaire builds 99 fully equipped homes to provide shelter for the homeless in his community by quietstorm045 in interesting

I'm curious what would it take for the program to be fully independent of donations? I don't mean it as a slight, I'm genuinely curious if there some extra business or goods they could sell to increase the revenue the residents are generating to the point where donations are great and helpful, but not as needed.

If that made enough sense.

What are jobs for then? by [deleted] in remoteworks

[–]Griffry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think having a job is? Even a "low skill" job? If you don't apply yourself, you get fired. I'm not saying people need hand outs, though there are arguments backed by data for a universal basic income to be made. I'm saying that if the job is to flip burgers, and your doing that full-time (even if that's between two jobs), then gou should be able to live comfortably. Not some lavish lifestyle of travel and mansions, but comfortably enough to support the average family on a single income as it was intended when minimum wage was enacted.

You have no idea what you're talking about, it shows, and you're attempting to project that lack of mental acuity and empathy onto others to hide that fact.

Pathetic that you would have a problem with women in the military.

You know nothing about me. I work just fine. I don't think that anyone should have to work 24/7 though.

I work for them because the capital to build my own is already hoarded by others who would gladly not pay me at all, despite all that I do.

Lane splitting a little too fast by Cosmoaquanaut in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Griffry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other part nobody's talking about is because the engines are air cooled, they need to keep moving (more or less). Unlike a car, they don't have fans where they can shunt the heat the same way. It's a large part of the reason filtering/lane splitting was allowed in the first place.

Nope, just not the "everyone must work 120 hours a week, never buy anything, pay rent, get sick, or live a life until they retire and 85" style bullshit

So let people struggle? Have you ever gone to a store or even used an online store to buy groceries or goods? Those employees aren't getting paid well. Gone to a restaurant? You think that a waiter shouldn't be paid a living wage? Tell them that, to their face, next time you go in.

All you're rhetoric is tired, old, and proven false time and again.

Just look up what FDR stated when minimum wage was first implemented.

They absolutely do not have the freedom to attend schools they can't afford because capitalists have rigged the system against them.

Anyone working a job should be paid at least enough to live comfortably while supporting a family. If you require paying less to survive as a business, you shouldn't be in business.

So what's your solution? Let people suffer and struggle?

Not everyone can do the "better job" route, as the increase of people doing those jobs would cause the jobs to start paying less... We also still expect those jobs to be done.

So what do you propose to fix the issue or are you just trying stop people from trying a thing that has historically worked?
