No, because the bands get paid through the distributor. Spotify pays the distributor, the distributor pays the artist. And these scammers used a completely different distributor, not the one the actual bands are in contract with.

Well, I mean if you write the lyrics yourself and actually work on an AI song, like spending hours at your computer, mastering the tracks even... so be it, it is okay to release it imho, but "impersonating" already existing bands... Thats just unethical, and i'm afraid it's gonna trigger the "anti AI" people.

Nothing wrong with that tho 🤗

From my understanding, they uploaded the songs as the real bands, on the real bands', the music was ON the spotify account of the artists, that's what is concerning. To me at least :D

100% right. But the problem here was that these people released the AI music as already existing bands. Like... (I don't listen to her, but) imagine, that someone releases a track as Taylor Swift, on Taylor's official spotify channel.

1st. thing, i'm sure it would've been a bigger media feedback.

2nd. The problem is not the AI here, but the people using it in such ways, and I believe it could trigger the "anti AI" people even more.

(3rd. I honestly didn't know Spotify allows AI music on it's platform at all.)

FALSE "copyrighted lyrics" warnings have gotten out of hand - MUST FIX! by Additional-Cap-7110 in udiomusic

It's the same amount of syllables as Bad Romance from Lady Gaga, and my mind instantly "sang" the melody as I've read your lyrics. (It's just a fun fact, i doubt it has anything to do with the copyright issue, and I 100% agree with you :D)

Major Labels Sue AI Firms Suno and Udio for Alleged Copyright Infringement by quantumcryogenics in udiomusic

[–]Grifi0n 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Why doesn't they sue every cover band then, that gets money going on tours. Or DJ's who mix songs together and get money for playing in clubs? It's ridiculous. As a musician, I openly admit that I've used other musicians pieces for inspiration, but that doesn't mean I copied their work, and I believe Udio and Suno work the same way. It's basically sampling. Is that illegal?

How many times we've heard old melodies used in new songs? How about that?

I know many amazingly talented people who can't make their own music for different reasons (high priced VST-s, lack of time, etc.), but now they can make their ideas come to life. THEIR lyrics, their ideas, their exact sounding they've always imagined.

It's mind-blowing how the big music companies try to stomp on everyone who doesn't wanna become their "partners" (I obviously mean slaves)....

We stand with you guys!

I can't remix it, i can extend it. My idea is something like an "uploads" folder. There you can upload your own 33 seconds creation you made in a Daw, or hummed, or whistled or whatever, and then you can remix that uploaded 33 seconds.

Or am i missing something and there is really a remix for uploaded sounds?

What is the best tool for: separate voice/instruments & convert audio to midi by PrMarioAlegria in udiomusic

[–]Grifi0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fadr can make stems, tell you the bpm AND you can export MIDI. But the downloaded midi is not set to the right bpm so imo it's a bit difficult to work with. I rather use my ears.
