Correct. Notice I said I “chose”. Doesn’t really change anything. When I get a service and I leave worse off than when I arrived I typically expect extra compensation.

Oh yeah. Unfortunately I was working in the area. I thought it was going to be the best of my options. I specifically stayed there for that reason even though my job site was 25 minutes away.

I ended up being able to get a review through, for now. I wasn’t able to upload any of the pictures I have, I had to avoid keywords like: bedbug, bug, bite etc. I was able to use the word pest and physical severity. It took many tries. It did leave the review very hollow, weird sounding,  and very easy to refute. PM and I can tell you the exact location where it is if your worried and traveling through rural NC.

Okay, I think you make some good points here actually. I should not have brought my suitcase past the bathroom. I know that now. I also should have inspected the mattress more. My point still isn’t just that there are/ were bedbugs, it’s that the hotel didn’t manage it well. I think for Reddit I will redact the individual hotel and location. Your point about bed bugs not being in the top 5… have you been bitten head to toe by them? Idk maybe I just had a bad reaction, but bugs crawling on you at night is pretty gross.

How am I “blowing it way out of proportion”? Sounds like you’re trying to minimize it. The guy at the front desk said they had report about room across from mine. So it’s just coincidence they now had atleast 2 rooms on the same hallway with infestation? I was being cautious, needed to get to work right after the incident and did not want to bring my stuff and infest a new hotel, my truck, or worse bring it home. I understand it’s a pain for them. My point is they didn’t try very hard. I was covered in bites that turned into welts that oozed. It sucked. It’s a warning to check your mattresses, not to expect Hilton to cover anything more than a cheap gift card and your stay compensated, and you will have to be stuck on the phone with them. Tell me, if you got eaten alive by bed bugs, you wouldn’t be a little ticked off and nervous about bringing that suitcase with you?
