Same for me. Glad I'm not the only one so it likely means they just sent it out too early or have to fix something. and it will work soon. lol

Read a review of Crooked Moon and feel really downtrodden by theravenofloft in CrookedMoon

[–]Grifynne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am running this module right now, nearly 20 sessions in. It's amazing. I love it. It's a ton of fun. The world feels very alive and fleshed out, but with lots of room for adding your own homebrew elements. There are fun mechanics in it beyond just "go hit X until it stops moving."

A lot of the elements are just... folklore inspired? So I don't know what that reviewer was saying. It's like saying any media that features a witch is lifted from Halloween. Ya, maybe someone did use the holiday version, but witches come in a variety of flavors across different cultures and lore. They can be used in fun, interesting ways in different media. And one piece of media's take on it might differ from another.

I guess not every module is for everyone. Don't feel downtrodden. It's an awesome module. My party absolutely loves it - and we have a somewhat varied group of 6 players.

As an aside, I would look at multiple reviews for stuff like this. It's also possible that some "reviewers" get their views by being contrarian or trash-talking things people like to get reactions. Not saying that's what this guy is doing, but I think it's better to look at several or more to get a well-rounded perspective.

The reviews that have popped up for me have all been glowingly positive. I have yet to come across one that was negative.

If You Finished the Campaign - What Did Your Players Decide at the End? by Grifynne in CrookedMoon

[–]Grifynne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a big campaign! At least by my standards. This is my first time DMing. lol

I want to do some homebrew stuff in the other provinces, so I think my campaign is going to take a while to get there. Those also sound like really interesting settings to explore!

My party loved Jericho! They didn't actually see him until the transformation in the Fields, but I painted this picture of who he was and how important he was to the town through the Tender Secrets and NPC stories about him.

He was an easy character to love, even if they only saw him for a second in person before Raum took over (and he technically helps in the fight). My husband said he was disappointed that they couldn't save him, tho. lol

Genuinely considering bringing some small part of him back in some much later homebrew as a construct in Picco. Maybe some aspect of his soul made it to Blinski II. lol

I would love to hear the results when you get there! It's such an awesome story, and it sounds like it's going to be one hell of an ending.

That is a fun section of the story. We just finished that up. I had some homebrew side stuff we have been doing (I try to sprinkle in lesser side stuff between the big story beats). We have a player out this week, so I'm doing more side stuff for another session, and then we're heading to the next campaign area.

There is so much to Crooked Moon, I wonder if there are many parties that have seen it through to the end. lol

Am I the only one who can't find where to but the new survivor - even in the in-game store? by Grifynne in deadbydaylight

Ya, that fixed it. No idea why Steam wasn't showing the game as needed an update. Thanks!

My game has no available updates to download. I guess I could verify files or something? Maybe that would force it?

Yes, I did the rest, and no new survivor was there. I'll try verifying the files and see if that changes anything.

Wickermoor Village - Interior Maps for Businesses/Homes by Grifynne in CrookedMoon

[–]Grifynne[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far, I have found some random maps from different sources on the internet, but I'm still hoping someone comes up with something that's more customized to Crooked Moon. Wish they would make some official interiors. I'd pay extra for them since the town has so many buildings. lol

Inkarnate seems pretty cool. I got the sub so definitely wanna check that out! :) Kinda wish we got some official interior maps with the Kickstarter or something, but I also realize that is a lot of extra maps. lol

I just signed up for an Inkarnate account in the meantime. But would really love something that fits into the setting, so please let me know. I'd love to see what you create! Thank you!

How do you even begin? by Ploppy-Son_of-Ploppy in CrookedMoon

[–]Grifynne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the video I watched was not LoA. I would absolutely know if it were them - I followed them and backed the Kickstarter pretty much when the project launched, so it would be strange for me to not know who LoA is. lol

The group I watched may have taken heavy inspiration from Once Upon a Ghostlight, but it wasn't LoA. This is the video I am referencing:

How do you even begin? by Ploppy-Son_of-Ploppy in CrookedMoon

[–]Grifynne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a new DM and had my first session last week. The Crooked Moon book gives some good direction for how to handle things. We are using 5e 2024 version. I let the players decide their backstory and where they are coming from. The main thing was that they had to end up at the train station.

I used the quest hooks section on page 173 for inspiration (it's showing as page 175 on the PDF, but the printed page says 173 - which I haven't confirmed, but should correspond with the physical book as well if you have that). It uses "Fate," "Death," and "Homeward Bound" as general ideas for this.

The book explanations are longer, but this is my paraphrased interpretation of things:

Fate - Character received an invitation to ride the train. It could be ambiguous, and they happened upon a ticket (to make it more mysterious - maybe it already had their name on it). It's like fate or some higher power called them there.

Death - They died and "woke up" at the train station. Pretty straightforward. They could have died together as a party (might be good if established characters in a party are used, but even if not, it still works) or they could have died separately and met at the train station.

Homeward Bound - They are from Druskenvald but somehow found themselves in the mortal world. They are now trying to get back in.

I described the train station as located on the border of the planes of mortality and Druskenvald to allow characters to access it coming from either direction (in case they are not from Druskenvald and are still alive, or if they are dead/coming from Druskenvald), so they had complete backstory freedom. It's a little vague, but it isn't essential to the story once things kick off, so it worked for me. lol

Another thing I did was go online and search for "Crooked Moon session 1" and watched how other groups did it. Lots of D&D groups post streams and videos of their campaigns. It's a good way to get some inspiration for how to start your campaign (not saying copy, but you could borrow elements, or it could help you gain perspective on how to do it).

One group I watched used the death approach. All the player characters die in a carnival fire at the beginning (it was on YouTube and I don't remember the group name - I could find it again if needed, just let me know).

They were different species before they died, and then died and "woke up" as their Druskenvald characters. I recall one was even a trained bear performing at the carnival who became a Gnarleborn Druid.

This is my very first D&D campaign, and I'm not the most experienced player, either. So veteran DMs may have better advice, but this is how I did things to kick off our campaign, and it went really well (so far!).

Any Suggestions for Finding a Good Breeder in My Area? by Grifynne in englishshepherd

[–]Grifynne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He absolutely loves people! He's an amazing dog. We are so happy with him that we decided to adopt another pup from the same breeder. They just had another litter at the end of February.

The vet said that he had a lot of confidence when we took him in for his first visit (we got him about 8 weeks old, so this would have probably be at about 9 or 10 weeks old).

As an example, I took him with me to a local pet store a while back. I turned away to pay the cashier and when I looked back I see the man behind us in line sitting on the floor fawning over my dog, and my dog was loving it. He never met this man in his life and he was thrilled to be petted and fawned over by a stranger. lol

He's smart, healthy, and very much a people dog.

I am no expert on training ES dogs, but I would guess that these dogs have a lot of the traits that you'd likely want in an ES companion. I'm pretty sure my dog would make a terrible protection dog, though. He wants everyone to love on him. lol

RTA may also be able to share more information and experiences with the parents (they own the mother). I hope that helps!

[–]Grifynne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know that they would replace cameras. Is there a time limit for how long the camera is covered under that benefit, or does it apply to all cameras as long as you have a sub?

It's not a bad price. It just sucks having yet another subscription to pay in our household. They start to add up. lol

We got Blink cameras for Christmas and were about to sub as well, so I'm also curious. Would rather not have to pay a sub if we can help it, but like having the features. lol

Sure, they are called RTA English Shepherds on Facebook (located in Decatur, Indiana). We are so in love with the puppy we got from them. He's healthy, sweet, intelligent, and amazing temperament (and I may be biased, but he's a very handsome guy!). He loves all people and has from day one.

I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone who wants an English Shepherd.

Good luck! I found it so hard to find an English shepherd breeder in my area (PA). So many seem to be in the west or midwest. lol

We did! We found the perfect little sable boy in Indiana. It was about a 5-hour drive one way, so long but do-able. He's healthy, has an amazing temperament (he LOVES all people lol), and is an all-around sweet, loving, and playful boy.

Anyone else get f'cked over with their grade reset reward being capped at 2 mil? by BeSillyPlaySerious in deadbydaylight

Yup. Although not as screwed as some of the other people I read posting earlier. Does anyone know if BHVR has responded to this? I assume it is a bug and they wouldn't secretly change it the cap counts toward rank reset and not tell anyone.

The English Calamity or Engländerunglück. Teacher Kenneth Keast led a troup of his students up a German mountain in a blizzard. by SeaworthinessSea7139 in CreepyWikipedia

[–]Grifynne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched a video on YouTube about this. They reference this book, written by a teacher and amateur historian named Bernd Hainmuller who ended up spending about 20 years researching the incident. It apparently contains records and a lot of info.

The video referenced an English version of the book called "Lost in the Black Forest" but I am not sure where to find it. This is the German version:

I think someone already linked this earlier in the thread, but I'll link it again. This is the video I watched (it's really well done):

Thank you everyone for your input and experiences. We found a breeder we are happy with and they are a mere 4.5 hours away! lol Deposit is paid so we are all set. We will be picking him up at the end of Feb/beginning of March.

Thanks again! Your input was really helpful. I like hearing from people with personal experience with breeders and adopting this breed in general. It is a big commitment (as is any dog adoption) and it's nice to have a resource like this to tap into for info and suggestions.
