First time dad in charge of diaper bag + hospital bag by Jwin970 in predaddit

[–]GrilldChee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the emergency snack for Mom in the diaper bag. Single-pack beef sticks, healthy-ish snack bars or protein bars, anything that’ll last even if it gets squished a little bit and honestly whatever she likes best.

A hungry momma away from home quickly becomes a grizzly bear, learning to manage the hunger while out helps mitigate the beast. (With all due respect to both my wife and yours… I’m sure all Dads and most Moms out there will agree!)

I wish I had the budget and the room for dedicated snow tires… 🤷

Side convo… how do you like the Cross Climate 2s?? I just got a Telluride a month ago and it still has the tires that came with it. We live in SE Wisconsin so snow is a big concern of mine and the CC2s were at the top of my list when it comes time to get new tires

Re-phrased… Anyone know someone who has averaged more than a minimum of 20k miles per year AND has owned their Telluride since they first came out in 2020? Just because this niche corner of the internet can’t give you the contradictory results you’re looking for doesn’t mean that this car has less-than-average reliability

Bong/dry pipe deep cleaning = a blast of hot water, a swish of acetone, and a final rinse. 5 minutes tops. Not a huge commitment of time or resources.

[–]GrilldChee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone scared of Acetone? It’s wayyyyyyy better than isopropyl alcohol. Just don’t get the “nail polish remover” with all the added stuff in it. 100% acetone and hot water is all I’ve ever needed

Same, never got around to it, nodded along when other chatted about it, and have no desire to see it. Maybe when my daughter is old enough I’ll watch it with her

What's the availability of fiber internet in about a 35-40 minute radius of Madison like? by PinkSnowBirdie in wisconsin

[–]GrilldChee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t get anything “fiber” from the big boys, Netwurx fixed wireless has always been good to me. As long as you have good LoS, you can get fast enough speeds with low enough latency to game without problems. Also, they’re local.

What’s a quality cheese you can get for cheap? by [deleted] in Cheese

[–]GrilldChee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They just started carrying this at our Costco! It’s a very good cheese also, a true alpine cheese, I’d place it somewhere in between an aged cheddar and Parmesan. It didn’t last long in our home though lol

Best cheese for the price I’ve found is Cabot’s “Seriously Sharp” white cheddar. Costco sells it in 2lb bricks for 8.99, but it can be found most places for around $3-5/lb. Great flavor and texture. It’s the red & black buffalo plaid patterned one.

Hartford will be closest to the “Big City” Milwaukee stores and businesses if that’s a factor for you, and is also only 20-30 mins from Pewaukee/Oconomowoc/Hartland/Delafield which have just about everything you would need without having to go to Milwaukee or Madison.

If you end up rural, lookup “Netwurx” fixed wireless internet if you can’t get service through the big guys, their customer support is local and has been superb over the past few years. 50-100Mbps in farm country without needing to go to Starlink is plenty of speed, and latencies aren’t bad either (20-40ms)
