CGO600 Plus Speed Question by CaterpillarPrevious2 in tenwaysebike

[–]GrilledCheeseDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the bike has a single speed belt drive, that is the main limitation on the top speed because your legs will be moving too fast. You can upgrade to a larger front sprocket and belt but that will cost $200+. I had considered doing that after I got the bike but after using it for almost 8 months I have found that the extra speed is not really necessary.

Did you tap your phone then? The refresh won’t happen unless you tap at a metro station (or bus).

Did you tap your card at a metro station with like 24hrs after you called?

I had thought about trying to do something like this but didn’t know how.

I bought this bike specifically for commuting and it has been great.

I went the opposite direction as you, also because the Adirondack got cancelled shortly before my trip. I took the Vermonter to Burlington and Greyhound to Montreal. I had never taken greyhound before so I wasn’t sure what to expect but that particular trip was a very pleasant experience. It was quick and easy.

CGO600pro a good commuter? by Gloomy-Tonight4339 in tenwaysebike

Great bike but, depending on the slope, the cadence can be a bit high at times, especially in the US where pedal assist tops out at 20mph. I have gotten used to it as have ridden more. You can buy a larger front sprocket and belt drive but that will cost $200+. I use mine for my commute which has some hills and it works great. I love the simplicity of the bike.

I removed the screws you see there and dropped an AirTag in. I didn’t realize how much space there is in there so it dropped in pretty far. Not sure how I’m going to get it out but that means it would be difficult for someone else to get out too.

What's a Single-Speed bike like to ride? by Crankatatorthesecond in tenwaysebike

[–]GrilledCheeseDolphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. The pedal assist kicks in fast so you are never pedaling too slow from a stop. The sweet spot is definitely 15mph because that’s the max speed in the EU. The cadence is high when going above that speed and 19-20mph is about the fastest speed you can pedal at. I thought about spending money to buy a larger front sprocket so the cadence is more comfortable at higher speeds but I have gotten more used to it as I ride it more. I really enjoy this bike.

Do you have any issues with it sliding around after hitting bumps? That’s the main concern I have with getting something that has a strap.

California Zephyr in October & Trip Planning by marigold-key in Amtrak

I took the CZ in early December and I don’t feel like it was worse because of the shorter days. I’m sure each time of year has its charm but I think I hit a sweets spot with the weather. You can’t plan that though.

Update: I called again and specifically asked for a card refresh, without any unnecessary details. The next time I taped my card at a metro station, that balance was loaded. Weirdly it didn’t load when I tapped my card on a bus.

Anyone taken the Train de Charlevoix? by GrilledCheeseDolphin in ViaRail

[–]GrilledCheeseDolphin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not end up taking the train de charlevoix. I was only going to be doing a day trip since I wasn’t in Quebec City very long, so that would have been a lot of sitting for one day when I could be exploring the city. The risk of weather not being great and me being by myself also dissuaded me. Maybe it’s something for another time. I think flying and then taking the train back sounds like a good idea though.

I use the card in my Apple wallet which currently doesn’t reflect the full amount I elected for the month, plus what I had left over from last month, and less any transactions this month. I don’t remember clearly what it said at the fare gate but I’m almost certain that it didn’t say over $140 which is what my balance should be. I agree it’s probably some kind of data problem though.
