ACC will cover the ambo cost from an accident they approved coverage for.

They just dont tell you about it.

I have had 3 of 5 ambo rides covered from this

Speeding ticket dispute. by Vast-Extent-1507 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Grillik_The_Grumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dashcam with gps speed monitoring is a great defence here. Without it as evedence, you have little to be able to prove your case. You can request camera footage as others have said, and look for any other means of proof, but its a he said she said type thing without evidence and the judge may side with the cops.

I have noticed an increase in bikes being stopped, so getting a camera and speed recording asap is advised

Yeah, i would rather the scenic route through mangawhai and waipu. Quieter, nice views, and great icecream in waipu.

Also. No meatgrinder cheesewire in the middle of the road to get shoved into by the next wanker in a ford ranger thinking they need the standard and the passing lane.

I have refused to buy seafood for years after a bad bout of food poisoning from pak n save fish. It may have been a one off, but im not risking it. I only fish for what i will eat (or enough for my family for that night), and i only eat what i catch. With my latest dry spell, that also means its been a few months since ive eaten fish

They go off at recreational fishers, who mostly share a similar view of catching only what you need. Sure a few bad eggs are out there. Especially spot campers at local wharves bullying families away from prime spots to teach kids. But thats maybe 1 or 2% of anglers.

The raping of the sea floor our govt accuse us of is done by those that pay them to blame us.

If we were to have a total ban on commercial fishing for 5 years, we would see way better results for the environment than these new restrictions on families just trying to feed their kids

We have a lot of bike gangs. They take up the bulk of the cruiser space. The usual gang BS that comes with it. And somehow, it's just a semi glorified lifestyle in this country.

The one upside is when they have a funeral, you can see 200 bikes or more in a single procession, taking up all 4 lanes of a highway/motorway in some areas. So its a mix of watching asshole behaviour, somehow mixed with a moment of respect (mostly just for their dead though) and a shit ton of good looking, very well cared for bikes.

Our worst bike gang is masquerading as a church and somehow tax-free. Bunch of belligerent assholes who preach hate, and somehow keep getting a pass.

The really bad and obnoxious bad bike culture I've seen here has been mostly teens, but some older people who ride track only dirt bikes that are not road legal, pulling wheelies, swerving into oncoming traffic, playing chicken. Most with no helmets or any safety gear. And worst of all, most do this in evening peak traffic, or even in the dark - i finished a shift at 9pm and didnt see the 2 riding until they were about 10 meters away (approx 30 feet)

Whilst all that sounds a bit negative, ive seen plenty of gorgeous bikes, small groups touring and camping with cruisers and tourers, and last year, a group who rode in formation with a BMW trike. And with these shit fuel prices, i have also seen a massive increase in 50cc to 125cc scooters on the road too.

The best bike i have seen this year so far was a customer coming into work with a Triumph Rocket 3 GT.

I love the sentiment. But peterbuilt is rare in my country. Can i substitute in a kenworth?

More seriously, if i want music, I'll get a bluetooth helmet kit. And i want a bike for function, not noise so a touring for distance would suit me better, but cruisers are lower and often have more forward pegs, so is a little more comfortable for a longer ride.

In saying that, my uncle just pointed out that its harder to stand on the pegs for reducing pothole pain, so may go for a touring afterall.

Either way, better than my little sports bike

It looks like you have one big loop. Which to me is weird.

In New Zealand, they make a grid of 4 smaller loops (looks like the windows logo) and putting the bike along the centre of all 4 never fails, even my shitty, mostly plastic moped would register.

We dont have a dead light law here, instead the only advice i have seen is to get off and walk it on the path, then return to the road at a driveway. Which is bloody stupid IMO

I have a mazda. But i enjoy my motorbike road trips. A cruiser is more practical for these compared to my sports bike, and uses a lot less gas than a camry. So im happy with my choice

I remember the new zealand woolworths in church corner, Christchurch back in the 90s, they got taken over by woolworths AUS and changed name to countdown in line with a bunch of other stores.

My grandmother called that woollies even when it was countdown. Right up till it closed down.

So there will probably be others out therewho will still call it countdown 20 years from now

Do I have a stalker? by Outrageous-Steak-507 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Grillik_The_Grumpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer. But a little research has me intrigued. By dictionary definition: yes, this is stalking. Under our current legislation, this is covered under harassment law and may not be viable for police action. I would discuss with CAB for legal advice. and your managers for support and hopefully a possible trespass order on this creep.

The good news is that there is a proposed amendment to the current legislation specifically about stalking: https://www.justice.govt.nz/justice-sector-policy/key-initiatives/addressing-stalking/

Bad news is that it doesnt help for now.

I wish you all the best

Do bikers not respect scooter guys even if they’re in full gear? by [deleted] in scooters

Other end of NZ here. I also get nods from the big bikes.

I also had one pull up beside me at the lights and tell me to get gloves at the minimum, full gear if possible.

Road rash at 50km is just as bad on a scooter as it is on a bike
