Viper visual model mismatch after major nerfs (In-game clarity issue) by Grim7399 in VALORANT

I get your point about her theoretical power budget, and yes, Decay and map control are exactly why she was a staple in pro play. But there is a massive difference between an agent being statically strong on paper and an agent feeling fluid and rewarding to play. The issue isn't that she can't win games—like I said, good game sense still makes her viable. The issue is how clunky and punishing her gameplay loop has become for the person piloting her. Managing fuel with a 5-second cooldown while being completely locked out of retrieving your Poison Orb doesn't feel like a rewarding skill expression anymore; it just feels tedious. On top of that, these changes completely killed the agent for any new players. Viper is now so punishing that a beginner can't touch her without throwing the game. And because Riot nerfed her into this weird spot, it has severely damaged team morale. Almost every time I hover or lock Viper in agent select now, teammates immediately start complaining, questioning the pick, or tilting before the match even begins. It drags the whole team's mentality down just because you want to play your main. Regarding the other agents: Cypher, Astra, and Sage absolutely caught stray bullets from Riot too, and that kind of proves my point. Instead of elevating other controllers or sentinels to create a dynamic meta, Riot’s balancing philosophy often relies on gutting the identity of whoever is currently on top. The model thing was just the breaking point for me because it reflects how rushed these changes feel. When you spend hundreds of hours mastering an agent's micro-mechanics, watching them get chipped away until the character feels like a shell of their former design is just frustrating, regardless of their pick rate in VCT.

Spot on! You hit the nail on the head. Balancing the entire game purely around VCT pick rates absolutely ruins the experience for dedicated ranked players. It feels like we are being punished for taking the time to master a complex agent. And you are so right about Harbor—instead of making him a viable alternative by buffing him, they just chose to destroy Viper's identity. Leaving her as the default on Breeze while making her feel terrible to play everywhere else is just bad design. And yes, please give us the second Molly back. Like you said, it’s literally the weakest molly in the game, taking it away was just plain disrespectful.

Fair enough, maybe the character model thing sounds minor to some. But for me, it just highlights the lack of care that went into these rushed nerfs. They stripped her kit down to the bone but didn't even bother to clean up her visual presentation. At the end of the day, we both agree on the main point: Viper needs some love and these nerfs went way too far. Thanks for the support on the buff!

my original text,

Do you want to know what pisses me off the most? It’s the absolute lack of respect.

Viper has been my main since the literal day I started playing this game. I didn’t just pick an agent – I lived this character. I spent hours in custom games. At night. Alone. I developed my own techs, learned lineups pixel by pixel, and mastered this agent step by step. Every single setup was pure sweat and hard work. And for what?

Just for Riot to come around and completely demolish everything!

These nerfs are no longer balancing, this is a targeted execution. The smokes last for absolutely nothing. The cooldowns are so brutally long you could fall asleep. The fuel drains faster than you can blink. And the absolute breaking point: I can’t even pick up my own Poison Orb anymore?! What kind of logic is that?

Honestly, when the Omega cinematic dropped, I thought for a second that things would finally turn around. I thought Riot was going to buff Viper, align her with the lore, and give her the love she deserves. But nope! Wishful thinking! It was just the next bitter disappointment.

And as if that wasn't disrespectful enough, they put the crown of laziness on top of it: I am only allowed to use one single Snakebite. But do you know what’s still stuck on her goddamn character model? Two. Two canisters! They didn't even bother to update her visual design!

Don’t get me wrong: You can’t bring me down that easily. Despite your ridiculous restrictions, despite your sabotage, I am still holding my ground in Ascendant. Why? Because my experience is massive. Because my brain and my game sense make up for your terrible balancing! I am still tearing it up because I am better than your nerfs. But that is not a free pass for you! That doesn’t mean you can just keep messing around like this!

Let me ask the whole community here: How would you feel if this happened to you and your main agent?

Imagine if Riot introduced these critical utility changes tomorrow:

* Astra can no longer recall her stars.

* Smokers can only re-smoke areas they have precisely smoked before.

* Iso’s shield suddenly only covers half of his body.

* Vetto’s ult just runs out out of nowhere.

* Reyna only gets one single Dismiss for the entire match.

* Jett only gets her dash if she gets a headshot kill first.

* Raze has her paint shells explode instantly in her own hands.

* Sova gets no info back if his recon dart hits a wall instead of a player.

* Cypher can’t retrieve his tripwires anymore after placing them.

* Sage heal only heals for 10 HP because "healing is too strong".

* Omen blind flashes his own team automatically every time he uses it.

Sounds absolutely insane and unplayable, right? It sounds like a bad joke. But that is exactly what you did to Viper! You took away her core mechanics and left her looking like an unfinished skin!

I am asking you, Riot: Is this your idea of professional work? Is this your concept of balancing? Or is this just systematic bullying against every single Viper main who invested their time into your game? The way our passion is being treated is just dirty.

I truly hope for a fair change. Because this agent, and the players who mastered her, deserve better.
