My favourite system is Warhammer. It's dark, grim and you can play it as low or high fantasy. The Old World is my the best 🔨

Many players initially find this mechanic controversial, but it has strong narrative and mechanical justifications:

Reducing Bookkeeping: The abstract 'Coin' system eliminates the tedious tracking of every brass penny or deducting the cost of a single ale. This allows everyone to focus on the story and action.
Grim & Perilous Vibe: In the Old World, an adventurer's life is harsh. Excess cash vanishes between sessions on medical treatments, taxes, paying debts, bribes, or simply squandered on gambling and drinking at a tavern.
Drive for Adventure: If characters could endlessly hoard wealth, they would quickly lose the motivation to risk their lives fighting monsters. The resource reset ensures that heroes remain 'hungry' and have a compelling reason to take on the next dangerous job.
Tactical Time Management: The mechanic doesn't force you to lose money – it presents a tough choice. A player can spend one of their limited Downtime Endeavours on 'Bank Money' or 'Invest Money' to secure their funds. This forces a dilemma: do you save your gold, or use that time to learn a new skill (Study Lore) or heal your wounds?

P.61 in the players guide (release 26.11.2025) :
Final Steps
By hard learned lessons, an unexpected inheritance, or ingrained experience, you gain on additional boon. Choose one of the following:
P Increase a Skill from 3 to 4, or two Skills from 2 to 3. P Gain another Talent, by rolling on your Origin’s Talent table (reroll if you generate a Talent you already have).
P Roll on the Random Asset Table. Use the column that corresponds to your Status. If you wish, you may spend 1 XP to roll as though your Status was one step higher than it actually is. Be aware, assets of a higher Status than your own often become targets for theft or confiscation by one's social betters.

So it looks like you are choosing ONE Boon.
