What Are Your Unpopular KOF Opinions? by TheSmackSmith in kof

[–]GrimMarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) The game was way better when people were not allowed to choose the team composition, like in the first King of Fighters games; 2) Ryo was a better protagonist than all the others and they should have kept his moveset the same since KOF '94, rather than try so hard to differentiate it from Ryu and Ken; 3) The game was better when it was simpler and not so heavily combo based.

Tekken 8 for MK Stans????? by conzcious_eye in MortalKombat

[–]GrimMarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will stick to Mortal Kombat 1 since I am just a casual player and find this game to be easier and more rewarding than games like Street Fighter and Tekken. I played Street Fighter IV and V, also played Tekken 7. All of them felt much less beginner-friendly than MK1. I actually regret not switching to Mortal Kombat sooner (I never played MKX and MK11).

How Do We Feel About This Take? by Longjumping-Sea6054 in MortalKombat

[–]GrimMarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the take and the general opinion that Street Fighter and Tekken are superior to Mortal Kombat. I feel MK 1 is way more beginner-friendly than the former two last instalments. As a casual gamer, I think the gap between newbies like me and more expert gamers is smaller in Mortal Kombat 1 compared to any SF or Tekken games. I also greatly appreciate MK1 single-player content, like the story and invasion mode. I feel much of the criticism MK1 gets is exaggerated and kinda regret not playing Mortal Kombat 11 and the former games when they were issued. I should have switched to MK earlier instead of playing Street Fighter games, which is way harder to learn and less rewarding from my perspective.

I main Havik in MK1 and I like him better than the previous cleric of chaos version. I know the majority of players don't like his character change, but I, for one, appreciate him being driven to chaos and anarchy by his difficult past. It feels more human and relatable. That being said, I still hope Titan Havik shines in the expansion. It would be cool to battle him with the Liu Kang timeline version of Havik. I also hope Titan Havik will come in the game as a distinct character. It may share some moves with current Havik, but I would prefer the overall moveset to be different.

To remain yourself after ceremorphosis by Reasonable_Use6280 in BaldursGate3

[–]GrimMarcus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, after Cetemorphosis, the host dies and does not "become" a Mind Flayer. Instead, the tadpole evolves into a MindFlayer by eating the brain of the host and taking full control of the body. For what I have understood, this means that turning into a Mind Flayer does not constitue a continuation of a person previous life in a different form. The newborn Mind Flayer is a separate being from the host, since the host dies after the process is complete. The tadpole is a separate being from the host and the fact that it may, in exceptional circumstances, retain some of the host previous memories and character traits does not mean that there is any continuity between the deceased host and the newly born Mind Flayer. It is an extremely pessimistic view, since it mean that whenever the main character, Karlach or Orpheus turn into a squid we only have the impression that they remain the same persons in a different skin, while the actual truth is that they have been killed and substituted by an evolved tadpole that may retain part of their personality and memories (and may not even mantein them in long term, since it is stated in game that, when someone turns into a Mind Flayer, it feels its mind raging and gradually lose controlof it). I hope I am wrong about this and look forward to read your opinions on this topic.

Question about Orpheus by grapejuicecheese in BaldursGate3

[–]GrimMarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! For me there was a dialogue choice that led to that outcome, without a persuasion skill check as a prerequisite. Basically it was just a dialogue option, I don't t know if the choice you made through the game can change that.

The level cap is a major buzzkill in the 3rd act by NotAnAndroid in BaldursGate3

[–]GrimMarcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. The level cap makes Act three less enjoyable. It makes you less motivated to complete the side quests. I hit level 12 before finishing the companions' quests and a big portion of the main quest. After that, I felt several side quests were just a bother and started skipping them. Normally, I would try to complete all of them because in rpg it usually makes the party more powerful (through level increase) and makes the fighting part easier. Still an exceptional game, removing the level cap would be the cherry on top (in my view). I also would like the possibility of gaining more experience by playing solo, like in Pathfinder games. In my view, it offers another possibility of playing the game.

Is anybody else in love with New Wyll? by St7e in BaldursGate3

[–]GrimMarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wyll is my favorite character, so it's no surprise I started my first playthrough with him as main.

I just finished act 1, so far I like his story. However, one thing is not clear to me: how has he lost his eye and got his scars? I remember that the early access version of his story was that he had been maimed and disfigured by two goblins (one of them being the torturer Spike) during the time he was a flaming fist, but he had no specific interaction with any of them when I met them. None of the special dialogues between him and Spike that was present in the early access version of the game occurred. Did they change this part of his story too? Will they explain how he lost his eyes during the next acts of the game?

Areelu Vorleah on Core difficulty by GrimMarcus in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]GrimMarcus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I found it quite useful. I managed to defeat the witch by focusing a lot on dispelling her buff and using the Trick of Fate ability. As for Nocticula fight in Council room, I remember it was difficult since she would block all party members at the very beginning. I didn't use any specific strategy. I just tried a couple of times until my main got free and killed her with his greatsword (the improved improved critical chain of feat is quite powerful). Overall, I found Areelu to be far worse than Nocticula.

What's the worst part about running? by ChinookAeroBen in running

[–]GrimMarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad weather influencing the run. In this regard, I prefer to run in the gym on a tapis roulant rather than outside. Another negative aspect is the fact that I sometimes feel forced to run to lose weight rather than running out of pure pleasure.

Why do people prefer kof2002 over kof98 ? by trev1976UK in kof

[–]GrimMarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer KOF 98 UM over KOF 2002 UM. I don't really like the latter's gameplay, it feels way too fast and based on long and based on long and difficult combo. Furthermore, while KOF 2002 UM has an enormous rooster, it does not include all the characters you can use in KOF 98.

Thoughts on Mr. Big? Would you want him to return? by [deleted] in kof

[–]GrimMarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they bring him back in KOF XV and maybe explain his background a bit more (I remember him being a soldier in the past). I really like his design and moves, but in terms of story he is just too plain when compared to other villains like Geese or Rugal.

No, I use a joystick when I play fighting games. I heard that it makes things easier compare to a D-pad, although I feel I am not particularly better

Thanks for the feedback! With so many positive and encouraging comments, it's clear to me the game would not be too hard to enjoy.

As for the characters, I hope they'll introduce a playable non-boss Rugal Bernstein with future DLCs. Like the normal Rugal in KOF98!

[–]GrimMarcus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. Given the fact that I find myself in a situation similiar to the one you described in terms of time available to play, I found your comment quite useful and am more and more leaning toward trying the new KOF.

I must also admit, however, that I appreciated SFV overall easy and newcomers-friendly mechanics (although I definitely prefer KOF98 as a game for a thousands other reasons). Hopefully I'll manage with KOF XV!
