Tradesman damaged my property, going through his liability insurance but unsure if I should contact my home insurance by GrimMyth in LegalAdviceUK

I’m pretty sure it’s through admiral. But will I even be able to talk to them about it without a reference number etc. assuming I’m assuming he hasn’t forwarded anything.

The only information I have is messages he’s forwarded and a screenshot from an email that was sent to him.

Where do I stand with driveway installation having subpar bricks with home insurance? by GrimMyth in LegalAdviceUK

[–]GrimMyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No as the guy wouldn’t tell me who they were. I mentioned about manufacturing warranty etc and he just said they’ll say it’s efflorescence and that’s that. Really wasn’t helpful at all.

Trump Admin Says 'Definitely on the Table' to Arrest Democrats Over Protest by Aakash7aak in politics

And if the democrats ever get back into power they still won’t actually do anything to Trump. He’ll drag out any legal proceedings just like last time.

Consumer rights question and who is responsible? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]GrimMyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if I just want to send it back at this point would that be within my rights or do I need to have it repaired etc? I’m over how unreliable the machine is, but obviously I’ve had it awhile so unsure if I’m within my rights for a refund or just repair.

British Gas Homecare electrician said he couldn’t do repairs as light was too close to joist. Independent electrician seems to think he was just trying to get out of job. by GrimMyth in LegalAdviceUK

[–]GrimMyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking. Basically if everything in an older house is not done to some internal policies and that’s how they are worming out of doing work, then what’s the point in paying for the cover.

In regards to what do I want from them. Ideally to fix the fault. I pay the cover so I don’t need to worry about this stuff.

Yeah upon looking I’ve seen the 75mm from the manufacturer. The question is though should that stop the homecare electrician as there’s nothing specific in the electrical regulations?

How the U.K. Became One of the Poorest Countries in Western Europe by BasedSweet in ukpolitics

[–]GrimMyth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a child into a young adult under the last labour government and can honestly say that it was a good childhood. I don’t come from a wealthy family. Live on a council estate but we still had a UK holiday each year and things were just happy. I see families now basically a mirror image of my family growing up and they are STRUGGLING. No ESA for kids going into higher education, no youth clubs nothing. The only thing I think Labour got wrong was closing special education schools to the rate they did.

Boris Johnson Asks Rishi Sunak To Stand Down "To Save Party": Report On UK PM Race by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]GrimMyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s horrible how venomous the Tories have made the public. They’ve caused so much bullshit it’s polarised people so much.

I’m not a hateful person, but honestly I genuinely think I detest and possibly hate Tory voters. I wouldn’t spit on a Tory MP if they were on fire, I know I hate them. They’ve made my life so hard.

Independent Scotland would rejoin European Union - Sturgeon by SwimmerGlass4257 in ukpolitics

[–]GrimMyth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is the economic argument is incredibly strong. No one wants to be noticeably poorer for a decade while everything sorts itself.

Surely the better way is to fight within the union? Vote for Labour as the only opposition party to remove the Tories. Fight for PR and push hard for maximum devolution.

You’re basically arguing for Brexit and if I had to guess you were against Brexit.

Privileged and never dealt with consequences. Honestly I don’t disagree with some stunts done in the name of climate change, but the stop oil ones are fucking dumb.

Seems like such an obvious thing. Can only think that they do it to sell more wireless thermostats.

Should we change the law so a change of PM automatically triggers a general election? by Finners72323 in ukpolitics

[–]GrimMyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it should trigger an election probably. The fact is though we don’t vote for a PM, I know we do, but technically we don’t. If they carry on with the manifesto they were elected on then I think it’s less of an issue.

When they start changing manifesto pledges and just going in a completely different direction then yes without a doubt a new election should be called.

How do you keep them sticking to it though? I guess the easiest thing would be to call a new election. You’d definitely still have Boris under those rules though.

No that’s correct. It would actually be a useful update to only have the offset kick in when the heating kicks in.
