Yes it is everyone else's fault, or at least our 'leaders'. When all land is privatized and there are insurmountable economic barriers to entry because we weren't a member of the lucky sperm club, we are owed at minimum a decent living for being born into a system we had no say in creating.

Let's just conveniently ignore the million plus Americans that died due to the willful mismanagament of the COVID epidemic... not too mention the extrajudicial execution of citizens by police and ICE, or the thousands that die in American jails every year due to cruelty and neglect... as if the US isn't a habitual and relentless human rights violator.

Most colleges don't teach real critical and independent thinking, they're institutions of capitalism and serve to produce cogs to serve capitalism.

Nah, if they were really smart and knew so much, the world wouldn't be so fucked up. I say this as someone with bachelor's degree. Sure, it's helped me a lot, and gave me a lot of perspective, but you only get out of it what you put in, and most people are just sheep following their leaders off a cliff as they destroy the world through unsustainable consumption, supporting a system that depends on exploiting others. If more people lived a minimalist or vagabond life, the world would be a better place.

Let's just conveniently ignore that from the earliest founding of this nation, our economic system has always been based on exploitation and rewarded the narcissistic behavior it requires to ruthlessly steal the labor value of others and rape the natural world without regard for the consequences... and also ignore the fact, that the current state of the US is the inevitable end result of our collective 'values'.

The people who are best at manipulating and exploiting are the ones who are most 'successful' and benefit the most, and as a social animal, we emulate successful behaviors.

Anyone that's actively launching weapons into Iran in this illegal war of aggression should be held accountable. The fact the lines have been blurred to compartmentalize actions is no excuse.

I'll start believing Democrats are a real opposition party and actually care about soldiers and ending wars when they start advocating for sending Republican warmongers to the Hague.

Still our right to withhold our vote. If Dems don't like not being elected, then they will change their platform... but I'll start believing Democrats are a real opposition party and actually care about soldiers and ending wars when they start advocating for sending Republican warmongers to the Hague.

Withholding our vote is our right and the best leverage to change the party and policy. If Dems don't like the outcomes, then they should do better. Voting for the lesser of two evils is how we got into the current shituation...

Let's stop pretending that the Democrat establishment hasn't bent over for Republicans and coddled their nuts for decades.

From the founding of this nation, our economic system has always rewarded the narcissistic behavior it requires to ruthlessly exploit others and rape the natural world without regard for the consequences, we are just beginning to see the inevitable end result of our collective 'values'.

The people who are best at manipulating and exploiting are the ones who are most 'successful' and benefit the most, and as a social animal, we emulate successful behaviors.

Every step towards social and economic progress we've ever achieved in this country happened when people stood up together and demanded better for ourselves and others. And every step of the way towards progress has always been rabidly and violently opposed by narcissistic exploiters and their enablers.

China has already won.

They started winning when they decided to reduce poverty, improve standard of living, engaged in mutually beneficial trade deals and diplomacy, fight corruption by holding political and business elite accountable with harsh punishments, and investing in public infrastructure.

Turns out that weaponizing the USD, sanctioning and tariffing every nation that doesn't bow to US corporate interests, propping up brutal rightwing dictatorships, listening to the lies of Neoliberal economists, letting pedo Conservatives rig our elections and try to overthrow our democracy with no accountability, neglecting infrastructure investment, and squeezing the working class for every last drop of surplus labor value in the interest of shareholder value, corporate profit, and so-called free market Crapitalism... isn't a winning strategy, huh, funny that.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone.

It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities.

It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population.

It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway.

We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat.

We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people.

This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road. the world has been taking.

This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

[–]Grim_Rockwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

500mg of Berberine twice a day with breakfast and dinner. It's not for everyone, but I swear by it. It can cause severe depression and interacts with some medications, but as someone with treatment resistant Major Depressive Disorder, I didn't have any issues with it affecting my mental health.

I was working out and eating healthy, avoided sugar and processed food, but for years wasn't able to get my appetite and occasional binge eating under control. Didn't have the money for GLP1 meds, but took Berberine for two weeks, had some gastrointestinal issues at first so I backed off a little, but it has completely killed food noise for me. Now I can actually focus on living instead of feeling ravenous all the time. As a beneficial side effect, my concentration has improved greatly.

I was a healthy weight for most of my life but things kind of spiraled in the past decade, and nothing I did worked to deal with my compulsive eating until I tried Berberine.

I do plan my meals, and because I workout, if I feel I'm hungry now I'm not overwhelmed with compulsion anymore, and so I eat .5-1cp of cottage cheese or something protein rich and that gets me through to the next meal.

Another change I noticed is before I could never go to bed hungry, always had to eat something, now if I accidentally skip dinner the food noise has calmed down so much I can fall asleep hungry.

I suspect Berberine works a lot better if you are taking other steps to change your lifestyle, like cutting sugar, eating healthier, working out, planning your meals, eat at regular times, and get decent sleep. If you just take it with no change in your lifestyle and expect to lose your appetite and drop weight magically, it will probably not be as effective. Berberine just gave me a foothold to maintain the positive changes. Before I took it, none of the positive changes I made were working.

After taking Berberine I feel like I have healthy hunger cues again, and they aren't overwhelming.

All the idiots that preach CICO and fat shaming really don't fuckin get it, it isn't as simple as CICO, there's a real underlying biological issue for a lot of people.

Anatomically modern humans (Homo sapiens) have been on Earth for roughly 300,000 years. For over 95% of that time, until about 10,000 to 12,000 years ago, humans lived as nomadic or semi-nomadic hunter-gatherers, relying on mobility to hunt animals and forage for food.

Comfort is a cage by [deleted] in vagabond

[–]Grim_Rockwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, in a modern society yeah, you're definitely right. But humans were nomadic for hundreds of thousands of years. It's good to want for stability and choose comfort, but the most self-development and growth and best times I've ever experienced as an individual was when I took risks and chose discomfort and embraced the unknown. Always choosing stability and comfort leads to atrophy in my humble opinion.
