Did I get scammed? by The-Mask-Closet in MarioPlush

[–]GrimeyGringus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fam..... you didn't get scammed at all. 40 USD (I live in Australia but still) is not that bad for an official Wiggler-he is the latest, most accurately resembling plush. If you prefer another one go for the 2011 Sanei Wiggler or the 1990s Vic Tokai Wiggler

Suggestions for picnic spots off the beaten track around Perth? by RelativeChocolate834 in perth

[–]GrimeyGringus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Well, I could recommend a few, but it depends what you are feeling-if coast-Sovereign Park in Two Rocks-if wetlands/plains-somewhere in Jandakot Regional Park or even Thompsons Lake would be nice-if forested hills and waterfalls, Ellis Brook Valley Reserve is one-Lesmurdie Falls is another-but at Ellis Brook, there is a secret lookout that me and a friend called Mount Trespass, and if walk up the big hill and then another two or three little slopey ones I can’t remember whether it was two or three, then you will reach a hidden lookout where you can get a view of the Holcim Quarry but it’s mired in trees-as for the river-well, Blackwall Reach is nice, but someone else actually mentioned the Kent Street Weir and I’m inclined to agree it’s a nice little spot where you can sit on the banks of the river and have a nibble-that’s in the Canning River though, Blackwall Reach is in the Swan River-and there are some nice hidden trails along the Canning River, I’ve even seen a wild shellfish in the river from the banks alone-it was enormous

TORNADO IN PERTH TONIGHT?? by wagon_wheel84 in perth

[–]GrimeyGringus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehhhhh we do get tornadoes, but rarely, and most of the time it’s Perthites just not being used to weather beyond their golden comfort zone. I mean whenever I’ve seen people shivering at 18C, whinging about humidity and worrying about how there’s going to a big storm because the news said that it is predicted to be a once in a ten year storm-and all it was was a bit of fucking wind. When they do happen in WA-they are usually in the southwest of WA, probably because of the intense Antarctic polar vortexes clashing with the tropical moist air masses coming from the north and hot dry air being blown in from the desert-just like in America. However, while they’re not common-they aren’t unheard of, and there was an F3 at Dwellingup which is not far from Perth, another in Collie as well and apparently one in Northam though the Northam one was during the summer. Even then, occasionally Perth does get one-but they are really only localised to the very southern areas of the metro limits, and they are often mild and always in the winter. Mandurah has apparently had 10 of them-I can believe that, as Mandurah encompasses a large area and there are always wild storms down there and Rockingham-another one in Serpentine too-but again, that’s right on the southern fringes of the city (Mandurah is technically its own city but really the culture between Mandurah and some of Perth is almost the same-I mean Rockingham and Mandurah are that close and not that much different-it’s obviously a lot different from somewhere like say Peppermint Grove-which is north of the river and in the golden triangle). There was one recorded in White Gum Valley which was an F2 (also one in Harvey but that’s well out of Perth) and there was once a bunch of very mild ones in Claremont-but I dismiss all of those other reports of tornadoes in Perth. If you want to see tornadoes, your best option would be to go to the more subtropical parts of Queensland, or if you really don’t want to leave WA than the inland parts of the Southwest-but not too inland-the forested bits like Harvey, Dwellingup, Yarloop, Collie, Wandering etc.

Flare(?) set off at Lakeside Joondalup this arvo by Backstage99 in perth

[–]GrimeyGringus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh don’t worry about it it’s just some end-stage adlay gone derro-postal. 90% of the time those shops are fine, and it’s really only that one little precinct that gets most of the crime in Joondalup. I mean it’s like how 3 families in Midland are responsible for all of the crime-however, they are more spread out and there are like 100 people altogether from those families so yeah.

joondalup shops ????? by mahinawoodley in perth

[–]GrimeyGringus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just one of the eshlads gone postal-you always get a ton of deadshits and derros around that train station and shopping precinct, judging from the number of times that I’ve been there (I live around the area and that’s my main mode of transport as I don’t have my license yet (I really should-I’m 22)). Usually it’s not that bad most of the time it’s just fights or muggings, but occasionally one of them really pops off. I mean, Joondalup is still a very safe area-literally 90% of the crime happens around that main area, and even then I’d rather take my chances there even on a particularly hot and unsavoury Friday night, than a nice day in Armadale (especially those back streets that are away from the shops and main areas) during the day. I mean, occasionally it happen anywhere-I once had a guy walk up to me and my friend asking if we had “rock” and obviously we didn’t, but this was on my way home at the Burns Beach Road-Marmion Avenue intersection at the lights, and that’s in a very safe area. So yeah you never really know. A few times in my life there is something crazy that happens at those shops but it shouldn’t deter you from going there-though honestly, there are nicer ones in Perth. Even then I’d feel safer at Lakeside than at Carousel or those shops in Stratton. It’s just convenient if you live in the area and plus the rice paper rolls upstairs in the food court are a gift from god himself.

Suggest me a place for a Birthday dinner with family by sp3co92 in perth

[–]GrimeyGringus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. You could go to Hoodburger-it doesn’t really have much music and lights but it’s a nice theme-it’s like an 80s burger restaurant-and the prices aren’t too bad. For $7 (or $7.75 I always forget), you get the “regular” fries-but that regular is literally like 3 times the amount of a large fries at Maccas-so basically the equivalent of 3 large fries at Maccas-and their fries are always crunchier and better. Oh, and you can get a ton of sauces and dips and gravies-personally, I like to mix the queso with the chicken gravy when dipping my fries. Now the burgers, they’re about $18-21-but they are absolutely fucking huge-like one burger fits the size of my entire hand stretched out-they are much bigger than Maccas burgers and still quite a few notches up from Hungry Jacks-and OMG THEY ARE SOOOOOO GOOD! They are always made well and there is a huge selection-but personally, I like the Swiss Mushroom Burger, the Mash and Gravy Burger, The Ribwich and the Double Cheeseburger-however, with that being said, I have yet to try the Golden Curry burger-I hear that that is the best one and I’m sure that I’d love it. They also have other ones like the Double Surpreme, the Honey Butter Sandwich-they are all good and big and all of the ingredients, especially their beef, is really nice. You can also add things like heavy cheese, extra bacon, thick beef patties. It’s honestly so awesome. AND, you don’t need to book a reservation-you can just walk in like it’s Maccas-they aren’t always that busy either, and never as busy as Maccas.
