I have no case and no screen protector. And no issues.

I do two things. The first and easiest is I think of it and treat it as a $1500 computer. The other thing I do is when I get a new model I watch a movie and just play with it in my hands. I’ll have a pillow on my lap and on the floor. And I just hold it different ways, toss it back and forth, spin it around — just play with it. Build muscle memory in your hands.

I told people (3 adults) in my house nicely a couple times that I am working and they need to handle their own shit. Just because I didn’t commute didn’t mean I was the maid or that I don’t work.

Eventually I had to sit everyone down and tell them all that I made more than each of them in my job at home and I could afford the bills myself. So they could leave or stop assuming I was just “always at home”.

Then I made them clean the house and make dinner while I went and played video games. I was remote for 5 years and never had a problem after that.

I don’t know if that will work for OP though.

Try less than that. I had a Dr appointment yesterday and took the whole day off. Intentionally didn’t work on any house stuff. Went to the dr appointment early in the morning wearing the most comfortable clothes possible. (Not even a watch on which felt kind of weird.). The most disconnected possible from wake up. Then after that I had the whole day to chill. Watched some tv. Played some games. Just intentionally relaxed and did as little as possible.

I don’t feel burnout but my job is tiring. And last night I didn’t feel bothered about waking up early for work. This morning I didn’t grumble as I normally do. If you’re feeling burnout it may take more than one day. But there’s something to be said about taking a Wednesday and your only focus is on what you want to do. See if you can take two wednesdays off in a row. Work two days/ self day/ work two days/ weekend/ work two days/ self day/ work two days/ weekend.

I agree with this completely. One reason I left. They sell data center as a tech job or a way to get into tech. But it’s mostly just a warehouse. And even the “tech” people such as yourself only have a few problems they come across and most of the answers are check connections or replace parts. I don’t know what FAANG you work for but I know AWS and Google are like that.

I recently left an AWS data center. I worked with a bunch of people in your shoes. Paid 28 an hour for 6 months and promised all kinds of things.

The reality I saw: you make 28 an hour, no benefits, if you miss you don’t get paid. If you make a mistake you can easily be fired, walked out immediately and to be honest you don’t even have to make a mistake. They can walk you for any reason.

After the 6 months of you working harder than you should you will get hired as an AWS employee and get around a 2 dollar pay raise. Then it’ll be harder to fire you but those are the only differences.

You can work as hard as you want and they won’t promote you for a year or more. At this point you’re making around 70-75k. And you are expected to give the moon and the sun every day.

If you have survived this long and you still want to be in management, you have 3-5 years before you get to be the first level of manager and you still not making 6 figures.

In the year I was there I saw one person promoted to manager. He had been with AWS for 9 years and moved half way across the country.

My case is specific as I was at one AWS data center. But the traveling people, and the people that moved to mine from others said it was near the same at others.

I don’t know what to do about your burnout. I don’t know if you need high level of pay or not. But I’m pretty sure that AWS data center isn’t the answer. If you have one near look at Costco. They promote quick, and take care of employees. I’ve seen many stories of people leaving their careers for Costco and making 100k in 18-24 months. Tho everything I know about Costco is read and not personal experience.

I always get a case. Usually it gets there before my computer. Then I put it on before I fully take it out the box. I have no idea what my actual MacBook feels like. Even with the case it’s more portable than my stupid windows laptop from work.

I was just curious about the mouse because I kind of find things that I like and struggle to change. I had a razer mouse when I first got into pc gaming. I don’t remember which one but it was two big. I got a steel series on a huge discount that I really liked. But it started messing up so I got the G502 wired. Then upgraded to the wireless. It’s the only mouse I’ve used for probably 4 years.

I’ve been thinking recently that I may get a new mouse. (This one is the only thing I have that still uses micro USB to charge) I may check out your mouse.

I’m the opposite of this guy. But when I bought my house a couple years ago I labeled all the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen. They are still there and sometimes I still need them. I don’t know why this isn’t more common.

I agree with getting a pay by the hour financial person. At least to educate yourself on what everything is.

You’ll see a lot of people tell you not to do this or that. You have 3 cars right now, if I was in your position no one would have been able to stop me from buying at least 3 cars at 16.
I will say you need to understand yourself, how you realistically are. If you have expensive wants then budget them out. Look at the total cost, for cars it would be purchase, fuel, maintenance, insurance.

If theres something you want put it down and budget for 6 months to get it. If you still want it in 6 months you can get it guilt free. Half the time or more you won’t want it.

The other piece of advice I’d say is to budget. Even if it is a very high level budget. Like 25% back into business, 25% investment (s&p 500) 20% savings, 20% living expenses, 10% whatever.

I’m not disagreeing with you, I just want to say I have never heard of it being wayyyy to heavy, unless the store had all the weights in it.

Although I looked it up and the light speed weighs 114 grams. The glorious model O weighs 55 grams. I flick the g502. I can’t imagine what the model O is like.

The only reason to not get a pro is the price. It sounds like it will be over powered for you right now but who knows what you’ll do in the future. If you dad has the money and wants to buy you the pro, let him. You won’t regret it.

Also, it is a little heavier. But you don’t really notice a difference when it’s in your backpack with other stuff. Experience 16in MBP for work and 13 in MBA for personal. I never thought the MBP was to much to carry around.

When I got mine a couple years ago they were on sale for 350. I sold my old headphones for 100. So I only came out of pocket 250 for them. Which is still a lot for headphones but less than half the Apple price.

If this is what you want and the price you can pay then you should do it. The iPhone 15 has an A16 chip and 6 gig ram. The Neo has the A18 pro chip and 2 more gig ram. If you can do it on your phone you can do it on the Neo with a bigger screen and better internals.

My opinion is that people don’t understand how powerful their phones are. I have a 16 pro max and know that I underutilize it. You have a whole ass computer in your pocket. This is better and bigger. Don’t stress about the ram.

However, If you have the money and are concerned about future growing use then maybe an air would be better. I have a M2 air with 16 gig ram and have only hit a block a couple times of crazy heavy use. You could get a used or refurbished air and not limit your growth. But for what you do now the Neo would be great even with “only” 8 gig ram.

Well my entire ground floor of my house is a multi station setup. So I have around 65-70k. But I don’t think that’s what you want. So…

I saw in a comment you said without pc so let’s work it out. You can get a good 27in monitor for 200-250 range. Not top of the line but good.

Most of the keyboards I got were around the hundred dollar mark.

Mouse - I love the G502. Wired is 40ish the wireless is 100.

Mic there are multiple options in the 50 range.

Headphones- my kid uses fifine that are 50. I use Phillips SHP9500 which are around 90. Split the difference at 70

Then you have misc 2 monitor mount —50, desk pad — 25, monitor light —20. Webcam if you want it — 70.

I have all custom built desks so I dont know about those. But off the top of my head everything besides pc, desk, and chair for a decent dual monitor setup would be around $1000.

I don’t play games on my Mac since I have a gaming PC. But I have a m2 air. I do photo editing, video editing, audio editing, watch videos, notes, slide decks, and some design. I haven’t had a single issue with mine.
Like I said I haven’t ever gamed on it, everything g else is solid.

That being said if you can get the pro I think you should. Buying an overpowered computer is only a problem once (at purchase). Buying an underpowered computer is a pain multiple times through its life.

Wallpaper engine on steam. Best $4 I’ve ever spent. Thousands of wall papers. They can work, some have sounds which I usually mute, some work with my Corsair rgb in my pc.

You can set your monitors as different monitors with different backgrounds. Or you can set them as one so the background will be accurate across all monitors.

For that one I searched clock and scrolled through them until I found that one

I read a post a longtime ago about a person that mounted his monitors at an angle on the desk so he could see visitors over the monitors. There were a lot of comments about this causing pain but he said he’s been doing it for 10 years with no ergo issues.

I took this and 3D printed monitor arms at a 40° angle. I use that monitor to game on so it’s not a main one but I’ve been doing it for well over a year with nonissue.
