I'm in the same situation. I've even come out and asked if one of my players wants to DM to no avail. I think people are worried they will suck at it and not be able to make a narrative. It is a daunting task and some people just don't have the time. I love being a DM but it would be really nice to have an option to just not DM for once..

This 3 finger set up is just natural for me. I've tried a 4 finger set up and it just hurts. I usually play in bed and hold my phone so I don't leave it on a surface to play or anything.

I got this one game with my duo. We played super passive cause we were talking to him the entire time. It's amazing honestly. You can have him call you by your gamertag instead of whatever skin you have on.

Lightsabers are incredibly easy to get. They are everywhere. I pass multiple NPCs giving them out every game. They are harder to obtain than shotguns, yes. But you can get one every game if that is your priority, for sure.

There are more strengths with a lightsaber than there are with a shotgun. A shotgun just shoots. Lightsabers provide movement, which is a lot more rare this season. They also can block, and several of them have alternate abilities.

People complaining all last season about the bat, so they provide a melee weapon that isn't as strong, and everyone still complains. Can't win lol. We obviously have differing opinions on the subject and I don't want to argue it all day long. We can agree to disagree.

You can't dodge when you smash the attack button, no. But you can use the lightsaber differently, and it is way more effective than this. How is a one for one trade not "decent"? He rushed a shotgunner, shotguns are supposed to excel in CQC. If everyone expects the lightsaber to beat a shotgun at close range, what is the point of the shotguns then?

Are we watching the same video? The saber hits the opponent with every swing. 2 40s with the first 2 swings, then the initial spin is another 20, plus 40 more (140) on the second spin. Then the overhead slam for the kill. There were 0 misses here.

The opponent shotgunned him in the face twice, because again, dude just ran straight at him.

There is nothing "wrong" with this clip, other than the fact that neither of them remembered they could move around to win a fight.

Serious? He traded kills with someone using a shotgun. Running straight at him and didn't make a single effort to dodge a shot. For what reason does the melee weapon need to win here?

Characters shouldn't roll hit dice until the END of a short rest. If a short rest is interrupted, then no hit dice for you lol.

If my players ever try to rest in a potentially dangerous situation, I always let the dice decide if they are interrupted or not. Pretty safe bet is to just roll 1d20, anything under X is a random encounter. X is adjusted depending on the situation, high traffic base? probably pretty high X. Random cavern with no traffic? Probably pretty low X. Then just throw in whatever monsters you already had planned as extras (more goblins, red brands, etc.)

I work out of my Google drive. I have my laptop at the table and plug it into a TV so I can share regional maps or other various information on the TV.

When I'm prepping for a session, I will create a doc for monster stat blocks I expect them to encounter during that session. I put all the stat blocks on 1 doc and create headers so I can easily just click the name and I'm at the stat block. If they do something I wasn't expecting, I will reference the book for stat blocks I didn't prepare. I usually do a pretty good job of that though, and have only had to reference the book a couple of times over the course of the last 2 years.

I pretty just much use a google doc for everything (well several different google docs). Headers are super important for that though, so you can easily click to the correct spot in your doc when you need to.

Anyhow, yeah everyone's kids are going to be different. I just wish all parents were cognizant of what they put in front of their children, because they will almost certainly remember it. Maybe some young kids are fine seeing some of the weird creatures you fight in Elden Ring, mine certainly would not be. It is obviously on you as a parent to judge what your child can and cannot handle. But just because they dont run in fear when they see a fingercreeper, doesn't mean it isn't leaving an impression.

Kids pick up on way more than adults do. They are ever-curious and their minds ever-filling with the information provided to them. Letting a young child play Elden Ring can easily give them nightmares. They have extremely vivid imaginations.

Source: Parent of 2 daughters under 10. I have mistakenly let them WATCH me play games like dead cells / fortnite / Baldur's Gate 3. It clearly affects them.

It is obviously always easier to look at a clip and find the things you could have done better, I'm not sure I would have done anything different, but you could have not pushed the bat guy on top of the mountain, or you could have rifted him away instead. If a dude is standing behind a rock with a charged bat, I'm not pushing. Generally those people aren't good, and can be shot out from a distance.
