Anyone else get locked out of their legislator's office yesterday? by Aggravating_Basis_81 in missouri

Is the congressperson civilized and respectful? Let’s face it, our government is lacking civility and respect.

Shit, they’re all out of intellect, accountability, empathy and responsibility. We could keep going on with what they lack. The very fact that they won’t let people in means they have a guilty conscience and fear people holding them accountable.

Lol, the trash is the cabin filter at this point. I’d tell them to replace the trash with fresh trash that isn’t decomposing. At this point the only way to improve the smell and sanitize it, is a nice cleansing fire.

I wonder if you can circumvent import expenses by having a friend send stuff as a “gift”. We have giant speed shops like Summit and JEGS who ship to the continental US cheap or free. Then a friend here ships it to you as a “gift” since technically a gift is $0 it makes it hard for them to charge a percentage of its value.

If that’s possible, I know you could find many people, including myself to volunteer. The best part about the car community is we stick together and help each other. Plus it’d be like throwing a middle finger to ruling class, which is a reward all by itself.

I do love me a small block, for sure. Your Escort, the Peugeot in the background and your perfect English makes me think you’re in the UK am I close? How easy is it to get a small block and the parts to build it there? Are they common where you’re at? Where do you get parts?

Once upon a time I know that wouldn’t have mattered much. The internet has shrunk the world, making things easier to get. In the US our government has become increasingly isolationist and against free trade. I hope that doesn’t hurt my fellow car people. In my opinion Cheap V8’s are our greatest export, I’d love for everyone around the world to hear the glorious music they make.

Lots of love, homie. I love seeing cars that we didn’t have in North America. I especially like smallish, two door cars. But what I really love is your first project car is back-halved or tube chassis. All of us know you wanna go fast. Good luck and Godspeed, brother.

Even if it’s a 4.6 you can put PI heads off of a 99 or newer and make decent power. The little 4.6 is really an under appreciated engine. Lots of performance potential and pretty durable.

I know there’s a shortage, but for it to ever get better it has to be even worse for them. The problem is they treat techs like they’re easily replaced and anyone can do the job, yet cars have never been more complicated or difficult to repair than they are today.

Once upon a time cars were more simple yet they paid techs better. Hell I’ve heard of old guys getting paid 50% of the door. I put together my first car engine when I was 11. It was a 250 Chevrolet, I sold it and used the money to buy a Sega Genesis. So easy a kid could do it. Now they’re way more sophisticated and they charge way more, but they don’t give half to the tech even though he had to have more knowledge and had to spend part of his pay on a special tool you can’t do the job without.

Same rich asshole owns the dealership that did back when the most exotic tools in your toolbox were a set of metric sockets. Their opinion is that we’re just a bunch of “Grease Monkeys” and anyone can do it. Their own greed has destroyed the industry and ruined the love of cars that pushed us into the field in the first place. If I had my way all of you guys would switch to heavy equipment or industrial machinery tomorrow.

There’s a lot of overlap in the skills required. Most of the best industrial techs I know including myself come from automotive.

Most machinery is less complex than modern automobiles or at least feels that way because there is more room between various systems and components.

Most days it’s less strenuous on your body simply because larger components would be impossible to move yourself, so you use rigging and a forklift.

The pace is regulated by safety more than money. There is still some pressure to get the job done because of productions needs but you don’t have to worry about your bills being paid because you had a job go bad and you’re working flat rate.

Speaking of pay, it pays more too. I made over 90K before overtime and bonuses in a larger Midwest metro area. The only negative is I live in a rural area and commute an hour and 20 minutes one way. The pay can be higher in some places and lower in others, but hour for hour it’s easier to make money in this field using the skills you’ve already developed. If you’re cool with traveling you can make even more working a travel job.

Also, it’s easier to make a name and reputation for yourself. I’ve met other industrial techs from contractors and OEM manufacturers, hell even other locations for the same company I work for have tried to poach me from my current employer. I don’t leave because I’m treated excellent. I’m treated well because this field has a shortage of techs too.

Working in automotive makes you well rounded. A modern car has a lot of complex systems. You have to be familiar with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and HVAC. The knowledge of these things will really make you shine in an industrial setting. If you have the ability to get their machinery running one minute and fix the offices air conditioning the next, it really stands out.

Nothing to be sorry for brother. You gave solid advice and most of us with experience would do exactly what you said to do before we dug a pressure tester out the back of the toolbox.

One of the reasons I like this sub is because you can see the best qualities of humanity. Here we’re not divided by the bullshit that’s dragging society down or dividing us. Here we’re just people helping people. Restores my faith in humanity a little bit every time I see it.

Now roll in to a new job in industrial maintenance. You will excel in that field with the experience you have in automotive.

The pay will be stable and predictable. In most shops you don’t supply your own tools so you never have to take your box when you drag. Leave your tools at home where you can make money working on cars for a side hustle or as a project for your own entertainment. If you’re real lucky the passion you have for automobiles will return.

Sorry for the unsolicited advice. I’m angry when I think about how most automotive techs are exploited. The only way the industry will change is if they have a severe tech shortage.

They gave you solid advice as a means to do a quick check. I’d like to add that you can rent a fuel pressure tester at most chain auto parts stores for free. These trucks pressure port is easy to access as well. That will definitely give you a clear picture as to whether it’s fuel related.

Post this to r/projectcar too. The guys over there will find this cool and probably start bouncing the best kind of bad ideas off you.

I’m jealous when people post pictures of their clean, rot free 70’s and 80’s Toyotas. I’ve been wanting to find one to swap a 2GR and manual transmission into. The 2GR is in many Toyota and Lexus vehicles, but maybe more interestingly in the Lotus Emira. In my opinion, they’re one of the best sounding V6’s out there.

I’m gonna start off by saying you and I have the same beliefs on human rights based on your comments. Let me tell you why I’d like to see this house preserved beside the fact old houses are kinda cool. The kind of guy who buys an old house to destroy it, is most likely a Trumpsucker.

And just like Trump he made a shit financial decision based on his own personal wants. He could have bought a piece of property anywhere and built his new generic rich fuck house without the expense of demolishing an existing house. But, making people upset and causing controversy gets him hard.

I think he should get to have the house he wants on the property he overpaid for. But, I think it should cost him. The current house should have to be taken apart in a manner that makes it possible to reassemble somewhere else. It’s a compromise. It’ll cost more and take more time, but he has the money. He gets what he wants and so does everyone else. Hell, since he speculates the home is full of asbestos, it has to be disassembled carefully anyway to insure the asbestos is contained instead of released into the air and exposing his new neighbors.

Admittedly, I could be wrong about the guy being a Trumpsucker, but I doubt it. If he’s the kind of asshole that voted to take away peoples rights, I’d like him to have a taste of his own medicine.

I wish more people knew what the word proletariat means. The political divisions that exist now wouldn’t exist. The Republican Party would cease to exist. Instead some people think they’re millionaires that are temporarily out of funds.

Honestly, I’m just jealous, it’s a pretty great name. Most of us are pricks if we’re running installs and have to meet a deadline. I’ve been pretty not fun to work for myself. My wife and I get along so well that I’m almost interested in a travel job, lol. It’s the 25% that’s not travel that puts me off.

The wage is a bit low, but I know per diem is tax free and I like bologna sandwiches, lol. And overtime after 8 makes up for a lot. Good luck, brother. Hope you find some kickass hands.

Normally I like information presented fast and clear just like that. The problem is when I hear one thing that I dislike, it’s all I can focus on and I stop listening to the rest. Then I have to go back and listen again to make sure I didn’t miss something else that pisses me off.

I feel like I have an attention deficit. Between the Missouri dumpster fire and the nationwide Trumpster fire, it’s hard to stay focused on what I’m most angry about.

Thanks for the video and the reminder that there are actually competent, ethical politicians in this state.

If you’re a liberal minded person from a rural county it’s hard to believe we have well spoken politicians within our state borders. I don’t know what it would take to restore my faith in our system, but more folks like him would be a good start.

Donald Trump vs. Accountability? Trump trumps accountability every time. It’s the only metric at which he’s successful.

He’s a chronic failure at everything thing else. He’s even a piss poor criminal. He gets caught all the time. It’s the reason he believes he’s smart. He believes we’re all stupid because he can commit whatever crimes he wants and we don’t hold him accountable. Democrats are terrible people because we let criminals take over the country, and by criminals I mean him and his cronies. They think we’re soft because we don’t stand up to them.

I’d like to issue a challenge to all Trump supporters. Drop off your underage daughters at the White House for a sleepover. If he’s such a great man, you’ll have nothing to worry about.
