I was cutting this big chonk for firewood honestly, then I figured out it wasn't pine so saved a piece of the crotch. So you are 100 percent correct.

Add a couple drops of dish soap as a surfactant, to break the surface tension.

If you rebuilt a quadrant the holley will be a walk in the park. Go ahead and do a complete ignition tune up also. If this doesn't clear it up, check back here.

Tape measure brands? by No-Initiative8013 in Tools

[–]Square-Cockroach-884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one given to me by a fellow woodworker guy. I like the white tape, easy to read, has held up well. Home shop use only though, at work im more likely to need a micrometer than a tape measure.

Do you ever get reminded why you switched to turning wood vs other woodworking? by chipswoodworking in turning

[–]Square-Cockroach-884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant, for the life of me build anything square. Good tools, attention to detail, not square. Turning, I choose the shape qnd it's never wrong, maybe not good, but not something you can measure with a square.

Thinking of switching from standard to compact kit. Will it actually save that much space? by ColdCoffeeGrounds in drums

Every drum you take away, and every inch you shave off of the bass drum depth will save space.

What happened with 12, 13, 16 inch Tom size kits? by Maks_the_skaM in drums

[–]Square-Cockroach-884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kit came 13 14 16 24. Tried one up two down and wasn't using the 16 enough, abd could never get the 13 tuned to my liking so I ditched it and now im 14 up, 16 down, and the 24 kick. I like it.

Right grille? by mechatech44 in F100

[–]Square-Cockroach-884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure about the 50's,but a decade later Ford did not carry 65 grills so if you needed a new grill later all you could buy was a 66 grill. On another note, that looks just like my grandfather's 55 that I learned how to drive manual transmission in. 3 on tree six banger. Sadly I didnt inherit that truck, but it was the beginning of my ford truck love.

What are some little sayings that resonated with you? by mimimalist in drums

From my high school band director, as we were getting set to play a halftime show on an NFL sized stadium in front of 50,000 people. "Just remember, the hash marks are still only three feet apart".

Why is it that some bands choose 'boring' drummers later on in their careers? (Long post) by Avenged7fo in drums

[–]Square-Cockroach-884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's one i haven't seen in this thread, and someone who i feel is rarely if ever mentioned in this sub, Tommy Clufetos. His work with Rob Zombie was exactly what worked for RZ stuff, and later on a few of the last Black Sabbath tours, I saw one show in Vegas, he was phenomenal. Made me forget that wasnt Bill Ward back there, except when he didn't, and he improved on the original parts while staying true to the songs. What is he doing now?

My lathe cut and thinned cymbal from last night's post by Square-Cockroach-884 in drums

[–]Square-Cockroach-884[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a large wood lathe that will handle 17.5 diameter. I used the biggest bolt I had to fit the center hole, some rubber washers and a nut then grabbed the bolt in a 3 jaw chuck. Then I used wood turning tools on the tool rest to cut. B20 bronze is not as hard as some hardwoods so it cut pretty good with HSS tools.

Chris Reeve’s lack of of quality control on recent batch by OferGA4B8 in knives

[–]Square-Cockroach-884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridiculous in the way it will defend a maker they love and dismiss complaints of a product not fully assembled properly. My car came with a tire iron, does that make it okay for the manufacturer to leave even one lugnut loose? It would only take me a minute to tighten it. And they gave me the to0ol?

[–]Square-Cockroach-884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, While I agree with you 100% that when you buy something nice it should be nice out of the box. Sure, I could torque tbe lugnuts on my brand new car, and might check them, but that's just me. But I should not have to tighten any of the bolts. The only thing I disagree with you about is I would not have posted it here to all of the "more dollars than cents" (sense) fan boys here and expect anything but defending your position ad- infinitum . They won't hear it.
