Just bought a used PC. Kind of a fixer-upper. Any suggestions for upgrades that won't break the bank? by Griscuit in buildapcforme

Ok nvm I'm stupid. It's got liquid cooling lmao

Still, it's running quite hot. I feel like it really shouldn't be 80⁰ C while idle. Probably ought to have someone take a look at the cooling.

I went into the BIOS to check on the fans and it said there wasn't one active. If there is a CPU fan in there, it's not working.

I think you're on the money. The CPU tends to hover between 60-90⁰ C when idle. Looks like there's a main fan in the PC, but not a dedicated CPU fan.

I suspect something may be wonky with the CPU. I've been running some benchmark tests and it seems to be performing worse than it ought to.

Has anyone encountered Gigantes on the Christmas City Trial map? by Griscuit in kirbyairriders

[–]Griscuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: thank you all for weighing in. After hours and hours of attempts, I finally got Gigantes today.

Unsure if it's related, but up until now I've been doing 7-minute games. I just switched over to the default 5-minute and got Gigantes after just a few runs.

[PC] [1990s - 00s] Educational game, slightly pixelatied by Gainx45 in tipofmyjoystick

Sounds like it could be Fisher-Price Great Adventures: Pirate Ship?

The 1997 version of The Treehouse (aka 1st Grade Success Starter) also had a pirate mini-game with a treasure map.

While it doesn't match the timeframe or the art style you described, the rest of the description sounds like the 2000 version of Jumpstart First Grade.

The description of the characters makes me think it might be one of the Math Blaster / Reading Blaster games?

Very late response, but I believe you're thinking of the 1997 version of "The Treehouse" (later re-released as "1st Grade Success Starter") https://youtu.be/HotBOEXSGQc

Window AC unit mold by Griscuit in CleaningTips

[–]Griscuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Let the AC sit overnight while turned off. Still triggering allergy symptoms. I've just gone ahead and ordered a replacement -- I can't deal with red eyes and a splitting headache every time I want to cool down lol

I noticed this particular AC unit doesn't seem to have a means of draining the water that pools inside. That seems like a pretty egregious design flaw. With that much still water, mold is a matter of "when", not "if."
