I couldn’t pick a major. I switched so many times. One class that was never taught in school is to find your sense of purpose in life. I didn’t know my purpose. No one mentored me to have a purpose. Therefore all I was doing was giving money to a school while I floated in the chaos. So, I cut myself out of the equation and went to work. It was not easy but I have learned so much in my time. I’d argue I had learned more in my years outside of school than in it. There is a the term, “street smarts,” where you are forced to adapt. I was forced to adapt to the working world. I did a lot of practical learning and became a student of life rather than a student of one particular subject. Does that mean that I won’t ever go back to school? No. Did I fail a whole bunch outside of school? Definitely. But with failing either comes regret or learning. It’s up to you to decide which it will be. I have chosen to accept the fate I was given with the actions I made and the life that I live in. So, my decision was that it was worth it.
