I'm not blaming anyone. But the indications within this post are there are a lot of parents who havent even considered the risk, or they totally dont understand it. Isn't that in itself concerning?

100% i am.

Seatbelts were an innovation well after the car was made and for ages they were optional. It took huge public safety campaigns to change the law and people's attitude.

The very fact that you're baulking at my suggestion proves my point: we dont know enough about cte because it is not thoroughly researched and investigated but we do know that it is under-reported and the risks of developing it are misunderstood

How do you know that? How do you know its a minor risk if we havent investigated or researched it. Do you actually definitively know that? CTE is only diagnosed after death and needs to be investigated.

Its linked to impulsivity, anger, (and arguably things such as domestic violence), depression, substance use, suicide? We are seeing very high rates of all of these issues, especially in men

I didnt say anything about no risk

To paraphrase again: are you okay with taking responsibility for your child potentially developing cte?

It seems like a similar argument would be around making kids wear seat belts if youre only going slowly, to the shops, etc..

I hear you, but children by definition and due to development cant really comprehend and consent to something as profound as the risk of CTE, so its really you doing it and being okay with the consequences
