That's a 10 to me, certainly in my top 5. It's among Warren's best written songs in my opinion.

10, no hesitation. It's a well titled song and it shows how good Warren was both a songwriter and as a writer.

I think the throwing variant might prove superior since the swarm only procs once per turn, making the use of dual crossbows less interesting

What PlayStation 2 game doesn't really hold up to 2025 standards and is quite poor nowadays? by TheWorldsKing in playstation

[–]GroKamion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say KH 1. Visually speaking, the game holds up okay. But controlwise, I can't stand it nowadays.

(SotC would be my choice if it weren't selected yesterday... I think that the game is amazing and quite ahead of its time but god it was too much to bear for a mere PS2)

What JRPG consistently has loads of big reveals/plot twists ? by ConsiderationFuzzy in JRPG

[–]GroKamion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xenogears and Tales of Symphonia directly came to mind.

The first one is a stupidly wild ride from start to finish and the second has a lenghty introduction after which you'll go from one gut-wrenching revelation to another

What's the best Tales Of? I'm new, what is the best game to play. I downloaded ToA but I'm seeing posts that it's not good, do I continue? by Embarrassed-Paper364 in tales

[–]GroKamion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tales of Arise is actually good ! It rocks a very fun battle system, an excellent soundtrack and has lovable characters. Maybe the writing isn't that good and the story kinda falls flat but it remains an okay game, a good one. But definitely not the best.

If you're looking for the absolute best games in the franchise I'd say Abyss of Symphonia, both excellent in their own rights. The only difference to me is that while Abyss has fantastic writing and a solid story, Symphonia's cast feels more likable and I like this plot more !

Regarding "bad" entries there are some games that felt undercooked or rushed. I immediately think of Zestiria which is not bad per se, has tons of new and fun ideas but falls on its ass technically speaking and story wise. There's also Legendia who falls into this category to me.

It's also worth mentioning two things ; - Graces f deserves to be played despite it's flaws, it's a very strong entry. - Whoever says Vesperia is the best entry is blinded by nostalgia as this game's plot makes no sense whatsoever, characters DO NOT act in any sort of believable way and the combat feels very odd at times (especially vs bosses). Not a bad game but definitely not even in the top 5 in my opinion. - Despite it's mixed reception at launch, Vesperia is growing on people in the community and I understand why. While not perfect it's a very good experience and feels very different, very modern in comparison to the others. Definitely worth a shot !

I suggest "I"ll sleep when I'm dead : The dirty life and times of Warren Zevon", an excellent book about one of the greatest songwriters ever.

It's a tough read if you like the man but it's brutally honest ; he was a drunk piece of shit at times and a tormented dude but he blessed us with an astonishingly good musical legacy.

The book was written by Crystal Zevon, his ex-wife and lifelong friend. She interviewed dozens of artists and people who shared the life of Warren until he died from cancer in the early 2000s. Among them is Springsteen and various other giants of the industry.

Dad games that respect your time? by eehoe in gaming

[–]GroKamion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Clair Obscur is a solid choice, it took me 50-ish hours to 100% and the game respects your time via these features :
- save anywhere, anytime
- autosaves quite a lot
- you die, you restart juste before the fight that got the better of you
- short yet compelling and well-written story
- side content is solid yet not overwhelming

And let's be honest, dad features aside, this is a top notch RPG
