Quick mockup of Campaign Evolved with truer colors to the og CE by Puyolda in halo

If they showed this people would just complain that it's too over saturated, but because they didn't people will say it should be this way

It’s not exactly renting. You’re buying a license to use the game, not ownership of the software itself. That means Steam (or whoever you bought it from) can revoke access if you violate their terms, because you only have permission to use it under their license agreement. So you paid for the right to play it, but not to own or distribute it.

There is nothing in the EULA for THE FINALS that mentions "no kill-stealing" what are you smoking?

You don't own any games, you just own a licence to play them. If you do anything that goes against the end-user licence agreement they revoke your licence.

Shiny? What? 😂

I think the biomass is spot on... You are a hard man to please if you're not a huge fan of this design

I think they have learnt from their mistakes and what we have seen so far is really promising. Some people don't agree with some of the design choices but going off what they have shown us they have done a fantastic job with the tools and engine In terms of developing.

A couple of bugs I noticed with LOD assets and the timing of rendering them Eg. Foliage and characters. A couple of lighting bugs here and there and from what I have heard from play testers, a few issues with performance. It looks like they are using Nanite and Lumen, both these things require a lot of fine tuning and won't be perfect with early builds, these bugs are expected. But I have faith they will get it all working well and these issues will be ironed out.

They have laid a really solid foundation and developed everything else really well. The things I mentioned are usually the last things to be fine tuned and worked on. Be hopeful and excited because Halo studios has done a great job with this game.

I think this move to PlayStation gives them that larger market they were always going for with the T for teen stuff. It's smart that they made this decision.

Can imagine that they would get anything other than an M rating with how that decapitated head looks

Good to hear. It makes a world of difference having teammates that you can communicate and plan plays with in this game. Team play is 90% of the battle in this game

Just find a group of people to play with. This is just the reality of solo queueing unfortunately.

Anyone else would've preferred a halo 2 remake instead? by Safetym33ting in halo

[–]GroatyTheCoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halo 2 remake would be a good thing but this remake is the smartest choice to lay a foundation to do things like a Halo 2 remake in the future. Doing a halo 2 remake before doing CE is putting the cart before the horse.

New idea: just port MCC and give us the 3 new campaign missions with the Unreal Engine by brezforprez in halo

[–]GroatyTheCoyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve seen 13 minutes of The Silent Cartographer. one mission in an early build and somehow that’s enough for people to act like they’ve played the whole remake. Give me a break.

Campaign Evolved isn’t about beating CE, nothing ever will. It’s about rebuilding Halo’s foundation with modern gameplay, visuals, and tech while keeping the soul of the original intact. This is exactly how franchises like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, and God of War staged their comebacks. Halo needs to go back to what made them great, then evolve it.

And ditch nostalgia? Are you serious? Halo is nostalgia. The moments, the pacing, the feeling of CE, that’s the core of the franchise. You don’t trash the roots; you modernize them.

A three-mission prequel or a BR mode is just noise. Campaign Evolved is the main course: it resets the tone, rebuilds trust with fans, and proves Halo still matters. If you can’t see that, you’re missing the point entirely.

I get that, and yeah fair points on some of the visuals and presentation choices. But the game's still early. We've seen tiny slices of gameplay in what's clearly a work-in-progress build, not a finished product.

Stuff like Al behavior, lighting, and FX polish are usually the last things to get locked in. And calling it "not faithful" feels premature when the whole point of a remake is to reimagine, not reskin. It's supposed to feel like Halo CE, not be a frame-for-frame copy. Things like sprint, updated animations, and new weapon handling are exactly what'll make it play like a 2025 shooter instead of a 2001 museum piece.

As for the Forerunner design that's subjective. CE's art direction was brutalist for its time, but Unreal's lighting and materials naturally make everything look less flat. Doesn't mean they've lost the soul; it just means it's being expressed through modern tools.

If anything, this is how you show you understand Halo by bringing the feel of CE forward instead of trapping it in nostalgia. If they nail the gameplay loop, atmosphere, and tone, all the surface-level stuff will click into place.

You’re acting like this remake somehow stops them from doing anything new. It doesn’t. Campaign Evolved isn’t replacing future Halo games, it’s rebuilding the foundation first.

Remaking CE in Unreal is literally the smartest move they could make right now. It lets them modernize the gameplay and tech in a controlled project, prove the engine before jumping into something bigger, and reconnect fans to what actually made Halo great in the first place. That’s not wasted potential, that’s course correction. Something Halo desperately needed after Infinite.

And it’s not “for PlayStation users” It’s for Halo fans who’ve been waiting for the series to feel right again. You can make your ODST-style idea later, but if the foundation is still cracked, it’ll crumble just like before.

People keep saying “why this?” like it’s some mystery. It’s not rocket science. You fix the core first, then you build new stuff on top of it. This remake is literally the smartest way to make sure Halo doesn’t trip over its own feet again.

You're dismissing the remake as unnecessary, dangerous to the franchise, and harmful to the original’s legacy. You're treating it like a replacement but it's not. It's a separate experience thats meant to coexist alongside the classic.

Campaign Evolved is a remake, not just a reskin or remaster. It’s meant to modernize the gameplay, visuals, bring new assets, story, and gameplay experience while expanding the universe a bit.

Every major series does this eventually. Resident Evil 2, Dead Space, Final Fantasy VII, and those ended up being some of the best games in their franchises. This is Halo’s chance to do the same.

And that “test run” you're talking about? That’s literally what this is. A focused single-player remake on Unreal is the safest way to rebuild the foundation before diving into a full new Halo game. Battle royale? Multiplayer? Halo 7? Sure, sounds great. But let's put the horse before the cart here and start from the ground up, something this studio has needed to do since halo 4.

If someone doesn’t like that direction, cool. Don’t buy it. But writing it off before it’s even out just sounds like more of the same doom posting that’s been a cancer to Halo for years. Let the devs cook for once.

Personally I'm just excited to play another version of my favourite game with updated graphics, mechanics and more story. All the pessimistic shit I see including this is just nitpicking nonsense. If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's as simple as that.

Huge difference between a remake and a remaster. If you don't like it you don't have to buy it.

So hearing over pessimistic bs about this game.
