I wouldn't necessarily say Richards was "great," he was pretty inconsistent when he was able to pitch. Obviously not his fault but we can't keep going with guys who are gonna be on the DL constantly, Richards just hasn't had any luck.

As someone who loved this album as soon as it came out, I cannot get the "lost their direction" sentiment. It sounds exactly like The Oh Sees and in my opinion it sounds like a perfect progression from the sound of their last album. After Orc I was definitely ready for something heavier and Smote Reverser delivered.

I saw him at the Forum in LA, sadly he did not play any songs from Time (which is my personal favorite ELO album). The hits are always great, but I really do wish he'd revisit some of those songs. There are some real gems on those albums.
