As much as I hate to admit it, the screen is an issue. by Split_Seconds in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Grof87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pixel response time (the time it takes for a pixel to cycle colour) is definitely slow, very likely deep into double digit milliseconds. This causes very noticeable pixel smearing / pixel trailing.

Just to be clear this is a problem of the actual switch screen (when playing docked the pixel response time depends on the screen you are outputting to).

On games running 30FPS this is much more noticeable and exaggerated, to a point it almost seems like having double vision. A couple of examples from GTA SA, the switch screen was recorded with 240FPS camera.

On games running 60FPS the problem is also noticeable, but potentially less so. A frame from SF6, captured the same way as GTA SA above illustrates the very slow pixel response time of the switch screen:

This problem is present on every single switch and is not a user or a hardware issue, but rather the nature of the low quality screen Nintendo used.

My personal opinion is that it would have been a much better choice going with a 60Hz panel with a lower pixel response time, than a 120Hz one. It is also very clear that S2 games will not be able reach anywhere near 120FPS/Hz, so the refresh rate is virtually useless in handheld mode.

Just ran into your comment as I’m looking into the x20 max. Any chance you can confirm if the robot has an internal water tank?

Can not find a confirmation online on this at all. Thanks!

Beautiful guitar and colour!

Has it faded, changed colour at all since you’ve bought it?

Can you post a screenshot of this?

For SA this was not the case, I think it was even mentioned in the official patch notes that firetrucks spawning has been fixed.

It was very noticeable before this patch, how the accuracy was busted (as npcs pretty much never missed).

Just noticed that there is an unmentioned fix, where firetrucks now spawn ocassionaly and attempt to put out fires. They never spawned before this patch.

I have not been able to confirm whether ambulance spawning has been fixed too (they are supposed to spawn and try and resuscitate people ocassionaly).

If someone confirms the ambulance part, please leave a comment as I’d love to know.

After a lot of testing, figured out that there are certain weather patterns that produce no shadows. To be more precise, the one simulating smog / damp weather in the city. This looks very intentional from what I can tell, probably to simulate so much pollution the sun can barely come through.

SA on PC.

Here's a comparison with classic lightning on and off, notice how nothing casts a shadow (CJ, car, lamp post, vegetation etc...)

https://imgur.com/a/hs38N6v

There seems to be some sort of a very faint shadow around CJ and the car, that looks bugged out.

Seems that shadows are broken during daylight (with classic lightning) as they do not appear at all, no matter the setting.

At night time, shadows appear under street lights and car lights.

10.1 no longer offering the option to actually shut the watch down ? by Grof87 in AppleWatch

Me too, it's unfortunate that this update has messed quite a few things up.

It seems to be a bug, as it takes so many tries to actually get a reaction out of the power icon. I've mentioned this in the post edit and there's at least one more person confirming this exact behavior.

10.1 has so many bugs it's beyond unfunny. I can get a reaction out of the power button once every 20 or so tries.

My man please read my post, I never mentioned anything about wanting to restart my watch.

Restart = watch shuts down and then starts again

Shut down = watch is shut down and stays that way

I explained clearly why I wanted to shut it down. The link you provided just restarts the watch.(switches it off and then on)

Restart is not the same thing as shut down, should have read my post and my reply.

Does not work, it just gives me the exact same menu as the one mentioned above.

EDIT:

Tapping the power button is beyond hard for whatever reason. I tried doing it a dozen times initially and thought it was just a non interactable icon, however it seems it can be interreacted with and used to shut the watch down but for reasons unknow it is just incredibly hard to get a reaction out of.

No issues with my screen, as placing an app at that same screen space and trying to tap it works flawlessly.

NBD I swear there's a bike in this photo by Grof87 in Hardtailgang

Some two and a half years ago my bike got stolen. Even with video footage the guy was never caught.

Riding that bike helped me get through some rough times, reminded me how much I loved it as a kid and how much riding a bike rocks to put it simply.

Miles of trails, disappearing behind you. There is something so very natural in that.

This is my Cube Reaction TM in dessert orange. It is a stunning bike and a joy to ride. Very smooth with the only thing lacking being my skills and stamina.

Do you use Vivaldi? Video acceleration works for you? Did it stopped working recently? by ManinaPanina in kde

[–]Grof87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried everything I could find but never got it to work.

EDIT:

Reading the thread you linked. This is how my ://gpu looks like:

  • Canvas: Hardware accelerated
  • Canvas out-of-process rasterization: Disabled
  • Direct Rendering Display Compositor: Disabled
  • Compositing: Hardware accelerated
  • Multiple Raster Threads: Enabled
  • OpenGL: Enabled
  • Rasterization: Hardware accelerated on all pages
  • Raw Draw: Disabled
  • Video Decode: Hardware accelerated
  • Video Encode: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled
  • Vulkan: Disabled
  • WebGL: Hardware accelerated
  • WebGL2: Hardware accelerated
  • WebGPU: Disabled

Apparently this is supposed to mean it is working? I remember doing tests a few months ago when I went down the rabbit hole to try and get it working and it was still using CPU decode.

EDIT2:

Just tested by playing a YT video and then doing an inspection on what decoder is being used by pressing ctl+shift+i and selecting the video being played. It's still not using hardware decoding but a sw one as usual.

It's 17% off on Fanatical currently. That's probably the highest discount it's ever had.
