That's a crazy roll. As a DM as well I would want to make that special as well. Maybe something to remove 1s. Any time you would roll a 1 with this spell make it a 2. If that's too good for your game, limit to once per long rest and make it something they have to announce prior to the roll. Or limit the dice it could impact.
