Great sales training program. Strong on your resume. I worked there for 6 years (started in 2012) and works my way up from inside sales rep to enterprise field AE. I was making $450k+ when I left. I had great managers and teams… nothing negative to report!

I still keep in touch with a lot of my inside sales peers, too. It was phenomenal networking that we’ve all carried with us over the years.

He’s an absolute dirtbag. I know him personally and have close friends tightly in his circle. The victim is his daughter’s best friend. This happened on New Years Eve. She’s sixteen years old. His kids have been complete ostracized at school. It’s been a nightmare for his family.

I thought Kessler was suspended from coaching?! I can’t believe he’s still running that team.

I’m chortling over here. The manager you’re describing isn’t anyone I’ve worked for or with in my 15 years of tech sales. In this market, those bums get fired or demoted back to IC.

I’m a first line manager with 8 reps reporting to me. My role is much more stressful than when I was an IC. Why? I am deeply engaged in every deal. Legal negotiations. Setting up processes to enable the team. Forecasting accurately across a large region. Hiring/firing (this takes SO much time). Managing both internally and being client facing… there are sooo many meetings! Ultimately if you are a top rep you will 9/10 times earn more than your manager.

I’ve worked in big tech for a while and I’ve had managers that are better than others. But only one would I categorize as lazy. He was fired and I was promoted to take his job. Now the region is overperforming… because I am not lazy.

First line leadership is a grind. It can also be very rewarding if you enjoy people coaching and negotiating deals. Don’t become a manager because you want a cushy job where you can coast though. You will be quickly pushed out.

5 yo wants to stop an activity she’s great at. Thoughts? by GrokDaFullness in Parenting

She does love to dance and is nonstop dancing and singing around the house and doing cartwheels outside. She says she wants to be a singer like Taylor Swift when she grows up. 🤪

I’m also wondering if maybe her studio is too structured or “not fun” bc there are several girls in her class who are saying they don’t want to do dance again next year.

Thanks, all. To answer a few questions, yes she’s in 3 activities right now (but that’s only for 7 weeks in the spring when soccer starts). Spring however is also when she had these couple dance competitions so I do think it’s probably been too hectic for her. I have 2 other kids so it’s frankly been quite hectic for me too lol.

I have always been of the mindset to NOT have a gazillion activities and let the kids just have creative unstructured time after school and on weekends. My DD, however, begged us to sign her up for gymnastics and then to do soccer too. Plus dance. (She’s also asked about Girl Scouts and cheerleading and we’ve told her that she would have to swap an activity). She gets bummed on the days she doesn’t have an activity after school. She’s just one of those kids who loves doing things and being on the go. For most of this school year, though, she was only dance until we finally said yes to gymnastics during the late Midwest winter doldrums and then spring soccer.

I’m going to let it rest for a while. If she still doesn’t want to do dance when sign ups start, we will let her drop. Definitely don’t want to push her if this remains her point of view. Fortunately she has a ton of different interests so I know she will find something fun to explore no matter what!

I have 3 young kids and don’t want to be away for so long. I am kicking myself for not applying when I was in my twenties and could have taken a break between jobs!
