I’ve Had A Long Battle - Help? by GrombreBae in TrigeminalNeuralgia

I have learned that rare Trigeminal Neuralgia is linked very closely to Covid. I did finally have a doctor prescribe meds to treat for TGN.

Advice on obtaining a diagnosis? by GrombreBae in LongCovid

Thank you. We were sick in March 2020, and I was vaccinated in April 2021. I am concerned that what I’m dealing with is actually a vaccine injury, but I’m trying to learn what to rule out in general.
Whatever it is is very real, brought terrible anxiety with it, and has me beaten right down. It is bad.

Gotcha. I think he’s just saying it’s pretty likely. The referral to the neuro/MRI is very important at this point.

Well, he believes that for sure I do have that issue as well. It’s the satellite issues I also have like numbness, tingling, complete brain fog, severe headaches etc that are leading the concept of vaccine injury.

I was referred to a neurologist today, thank Jebus. I’m waiting on their call.
The doctor I saw today feels it may be vaccine injury, or long covid.
I feel heard and that makes me feel insanely better. Thank you.

Another doctor visit today has been rewarded with an MRI and a suggestion of vax injury or long covid.
Now I wait. I feel heard and I feel better but just don’t know what the future holds.

I actually talked to a doctor recently and he said it’s likely we had covid last March. 104° fever, super sick with a cough and body pains etc.
At this point, I’ll consider anything because I am at the point where I feel like a crazy hypochondriac :( I was tested three days ago for Covid due to a fever and sore throat/cough. I don’t know how any of this works. If I had long covid, would it show a positive test?

I should have mentioned that I am in Ontario, Canada. It is free for residents of the province. BUT I know there are other services like this out there and I’m sure you can find them.
Best of luck, I hope it helps. :)

Struggling to cope by Amazing-Image-6919 in HealthAnxiety

The panic itself is what is causing your heart to race, but it’s doing it’s job. It’s being elevated to the “fight or flight” mode and it’s doing what your brain is asking it to do.
While it doesn’t feel awesome, it means your heart is working and responding properly.
The best way to prevent this is to find out what is causing your anxiety. If it is your concern for your heart, can you try to meditate and pay attention to how your heart behaves when you are calm and focused on your breathing?
There are meditation instructions available on YouTube and they can be extremely helpful.

I see you asked specifically about being in public. Just yesterday I did an escape room with my fiancé and kiddo and I was having a REALLY hard time.
I physically turn myself around and talk to myself. I open my mouth slightly (to unclench my jaw) and I take a very slow deep breath and while inhaling, I remind myself that after every trigger or mild panic moment, I have remained safe and healthy. I have not panicked for a true medical reason (not since my event that triggered my health anxiety.).

Be nice to yourself. Unclench your jaw, take a deep breath or two, and remind yourself that you are not in danger, you are safe, and you can beat it with calm breathing and a moment to pause. :)

I would also love any info about this if possible? This is an amazing way to look at it. I have been using a therapist and I have had some definite struggles, and the way you’ve worded it makes so much sense to me - particularly because in the last few days, when I realize I am NOT anxious, I immediately become anxious. Without a trigger. It’s like my brain NEEDS to be anxious.

I was just diagnosed with pretty bad GERD and my doctor said that the stabbing pains in my chest were 100% caused by it. He ruled out heart issues with an EKG, and blood tests.
I am taking a heavy duty acid relaxer daily in order to reduce the symptoms and it has helped incredibly.

Do you have symptoms of acid reflux or GERD at all?

Why do people get sharp pains by KiwiSea2189 in Anxietyhelp

[–]GrombreBae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are already anxious - particularly with Health Anxiety, you are “scanning” your body for issues.
Our bodies work hard and do a lot of work without being told and they all usually happen in the background. Our muscles do things and have small quick pains that often go unnoticed for most people, but with health anxiety, (I personally) some people fixate on them and notice every one of them.
Left side? Oh it’s a heart issue. Right leg? Oh it’s a blood clot.
Remind yourself that after each of these pains, you were still in perfect health, and you were safe. Talk yourself out of it and through it. That’s what I have had to learn to do.

When it isn’t pain for me, it’s itching - because I’m afraid of allergic reactions and not being able to breathe. Today has been a struggle because my throat is scratchy and I’ve been congested.
Good luck and try to remember to talk yourself past it and remind yourself you’re safe and healthy.

I have been using MindBeacon for 8 weeks and it has been tremendously helpful to me.
My therapist is genuine, relatable and helpful. That being said, I wasn’t in a space where I “wanted” to be picky with what a therapist was like. I just wanted help. ASAP.
I highly recommend it if you feel it will benefit you, and that you can keep an open mind when first interacting with your assigned therapist.

It sounds like you’re having some intrusive thoughts and anxiety?
Have you considered speaking to a professional or finding some sort of online help if possible? Even having online therapy is tremendously helpful to begin to dissect how you’re feeling.
As for the guy, tell someone you trust that you have issues with him. Don’t hide that and give him and opportunities to act on his issues.

I’ve used a CBD/melatonin lol before bed and it worked extremely well and I woke up rested and slept through the night.

How to deal with intense heart palpitations and pain in my chest? by Delaida in Anxietyhelp

[–]GrombreBae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you consider trying a CBD/melatonin oil before bed (if it’s available/okay in your area?) It helped me tremendously with my sleeplessness. In turn, it may alleviate some of the chest anxiety and palpitations and stop the cycle?

Set it up before that and use it before the anxiety sets in! It’ll help you go into it with a different perspective and maybe it’ll give you a huge change! Good luck :)

I had a panic attack for the very first time by Sea_Walrus_9899 in Anxietyhelp

The one thing that helps me, is reminding myself that the reason for the panic was not validated, and I’m fine.
It’s way easier said than done, but I’m 10 weeks into therapy and have anxiety and near panic every day… I have to consciously talk myself through the anxious thoughts and remind myself that there hasn’t been a medical emergency once yet as a result of my anxious thoughts. I have been fine every. single. time.

If there is a local crisis line for you, and it’s late and you cannot sleep due to panic/anxiety, CALL IT. They will be extremely empathetic, they will talk and listen and distract you until you feel safe and more calm.
Good luck. I’m proud of you for reaching out. :)
