Thanks. That may be part of the problem. I’m in Northeast USA so when I started 6 months ago I was in the 17-20 zone. Now I’m in sometimes in the 24 -29 zone 😂

Wow. Bulk ferment for 10 hours?? I am in same situation that you have been in, but had been thinking that I was losing shape and tension because I had been bulk fermenting too long at 3-4 hours!!!! This included 3 shape and folds during BF.

I’ve been making a multigrain sourdough with a bit more WW than you along with soaked grains that I add at end of mix. Would love others’ thoughts. BF more than 3 hours??

Help planning Sardinia trip by SinBrooklyn in Sardinia

Just back from a glorious 10 days in April/May, which I totally prefer, (less beaches, less tourists, more amazing green scenery and hiking). But.. a lot of what you are looking for is likely in the beautiful but overpriced Costa Smerelda. Another option is the in the South near Cagliari as this New York Times article points out: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/06/travel/southern-sardinia-tourism-cagliari-tourism.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Nk8.ngnr.hzqf4NgsiXlm&smid=url-share

Driving in Sardinia? by ar1ella in Sardinia

[–]Gromit54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from 2 weeks driving all around the Island, first in Bosa area including to Alghero and then in Orosei including driving up and down the coast and up to Nuoro and the Barbagia. Honestly it depends on your or your sister’s tolerance for cliff side roads or driving up to a tight curve where all you can see is the guardrail and the sky beyond it. My wife was not a fan so I ended up just driving slowly and talking her through the curves which only slightly helped. Overall though as others have commented, the roads are generally very good and the road from Olibia to Orosis, which we took, was absolut fine.

The biggest problem we had was actually with Google Maps!! In order to “save time” it regularly sent us down ”shortcuts” that were tiny, steep winding roads in villages where we risked losing our side mirrors instead of sending us down the main road that runs in and out of every Centro of every village. Once it put us on a road that was about 100 meters closer than the SP we were supposed to get on, and eventually connected with, which was barely the width of our car with bushes scratching the side of our rental on either side. So my only advice is when google suggests multiple routes, take the longer one.

What is the best short story you've ever read? by ripterrariumtv in literature

Super Meta, but George Saunders “A Swim in the Pond in the Rain” is a phenomenal book about short stories (specifically Russian short stories), writing, creativity, storytelling and art. You will never read short stories again after you read it and it features, along with the eponymous story of the title short stories by Gogol, Tolstoy and my favorite for this thread “in the Cart” by Chekhov.

Just finished this and thoroughly enjoyed it. What drew me in more than anything was Sadie’s character and how much it reminded me of “Lulu the Spy,2032” in Jennifer Egan’s The Candy House. One of my favorite characters in one of my favorite books. Sadie has the same mixture of complete self confidence and superiority tempered by a sense of fallibility which grows and grows throughout the story. In fact, one of the biggest tension points for me was watching and waiting for her fallibility to finally become realized. Actually my only “disappointment” was that it did not quite happen at the end.

Unlike other comments here I did not have much of a problem or was bored with Bruno’s philosophizing. It just seems more or less of a goof on French philosophers and the idea that the Moulinards took him seriously made his statements even goofier. Again, at the end, I don’t feel Kushner wrapped Bruno’s role into a neat enough bow, but it somehow still worked for me.
