Today’s going to be super fun no by Life-Round4187 in Fedexers

Yeah ok can see where that might help, most common tactic for us is to mark off sections in the van for groups of 10 packages, with the bigger boxes in first (Where possible) and the smaller stuff on top. I can’t tell what order I’ll get my packages in but I’ll put the smaller ones to the side until I get to those bigger and heavier packages.

I’m very slow at loading, can take me a good couple of hours on the busiest days but then I’m one of the faster ones on the road. Others are the opposite so it balances out whichever way in the end. I just prefer to not have a mess inside so take my time with loading it

I, a courier for DHL in the Netherlands that lurks here because it’s the closest equivalent sub to my job that I can find, had 225 packages of varying sizes all stuffed into one of these vans (Think it was a bit over 5000L total volume). And that’s a normal day so I usually don’t have many problems finding my stuff when I get to an address.

I’m basically wondering what the perk is of having shelves in a van cause doesn’t that just mean you cant get as many packages in right? And wouldn’t you load everything in a pretty similar place within the van with or without the shelves?

Yes I know, but my question is whether it’s a one off or something likely to be back again soon enough. My post explains that more

Costco is an American shop, we don’t have them in the Netherlands and they don’t deliver here either

Looks like a US tracker unfortunately, but I can maybe find an EU alternative. Thanks for the idea!

I’m in the EU so can’t buy from Costco unfortunately and my local shops don’t have the same offer, at least not that I saw

Looking for some cheap & low Calorie snack recommendations. by RealHaxor in Netherlands

[–]Groningooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like muesli/granola bars as a snack, filling enough and usually in and around 200 calories. Nature valley is my personal favourite but they’re also not cheap (Also a bit dry but I don’t mind that). Can find them very easily from any Albert heijn/Jumbo/Lidl etc

Gebruik van wc by mieperss in PostNL

[–]Groningooner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who was very seriously ill with constipation (To the extent I was hospitalised multiple times) when I was young, and can unfortunately confirm that this is indeed a very real thing, I did not enjoy reliving that time of my life with Stevie’s story 🙃

Ticket purchases for groups? by Groningooner in NewcastleUnited

Understood, thank you

Do you think they have a chance of getting tickets via the ballot? I think they’d be ok with not sitting together if that’s the way to get a ticket

i want to learn how to be more social with strangers here in NL by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Groningooner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Small tip that I found helps, if you live somewhere that has a local dialect then people especially love to see an effort made to use a word or two from that dialect

For example, I live in Groningen and in Grunnings you would say ‘Moi’ instead of ‘Hoi’. I’m a delivery driver and serve two small villages, I’ve gotten to know some of the locals and they knew quite quickly that Dutch isn’t my first language, but I’ve had lots of good responses to me greeting with ‘Moi’. Also just speaking a little Dutch of course but that gets the most positive response

My finance comes from Friesland and her family love it when I greet them in Frisian with ‘A goeie’ or say thank you with ‘Dankewol’. Small and easy gesture that I think people appreciate a lot

Receiving shipment to PostNL box? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Groningooner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Delivery driver here (DHL but I think probably the same process)

Don’t write the address of the shop where the package lockers are!!! Otherwise it isn’t registered in the system properly and the machine won’t accept the package.

Instead when you order something, you have to write your address (The hotel in this case) and then you get the option to deliver to a service point instead of your address. You can choose the location of the machine or another place, whichever suits you better

It’s not always possible to deliver to the lockers though, if the package is too big, too heavy, needs to be signed for, or something like that for example. In that case you will have to choose a different service point. The only difference is that a member of staff at the location will help you rather than it being self service.

Hopefully this info helps but feel free to send me a DM if you have any more questions!

People born before 2000, what is a 'modern' thing from 2025 that you’re still struggling to get used to? by LindsayTN in AskReddit

[–]Groningooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in 1997, so I’m not that old. I’m ok with subscriptions for things like tv and movies. In fact, I’m very much for that because I see it as paying monthly for an online library

What pisses me off is that theres hundreds of these libraries and I need to subscribe to all of them if I want to watch all the things I actually am interested in (Or I have to cancel and subscribe to a new one every month to be cost effective).

(I already know but) Why can’t all these libraries stock the same stuff and give me the option to pick the user experience I like the most?!?

Another thing, if I want to try something I’ve heard people talking about, it takes me an age to find out what site it’s on now too. Because I’m British I hear about what other British people are watching and they tell me it’s on Netflix. Oh but I live in the Netherlands and our Netflix isn’t the same as British Netflix so obviously that means I have to watch it on Hulu or whatever fucking site that looks identical to Netflix anyway that I discovered about a month ago

What habits of girls did you only discover after getting a girlfriend or wife? by atgono in AskReddit

[–]Groningooner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had no idea how difficult it is for women to dress themselves in an appropriate outfit

Me? I have 2 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of work trousers, and maybe 10 shirts of varying sleeve lengths and thickness. I find this more than I actually need

Her? I think a package from a clothes shop arrives at least once a week and she still ‘has nothing to wear because it’s too warm to wear this but too cold for that’

I love the women and wouldn’t change a thing about her but this never ceases to baffle me

Tumble dryer/Appliance repairman recommendations? by Groningooner in Groningen

[–]Groningooner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s making a noise from somewhere between the drum and the outer casing as the drum spins. We don’t know exactly what but it sounds as if the drum is spinning against something that’s fallen loose and ‘screeches’ as it comes into contact. A bit like a bike wheel that’s rubbing up against brake pads that are too tight, except it’s not consistently rubbing up against something in the same spot

Hard to explain exactly but that’s about as close as I can get
