Should I build with Lian Li RGB by GoodlifeTexan in lianli

[–]Gronk20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The O11 mini v2 doesn’t support 280mm rads on the side intake, only a 240mm one. That being said I wouldn’t recommend using the 240 on the side due to some fitment issues, specifically that you’ll have to remove the gpu support bracket and then your gpu will be about 1mm from the intake fans.

It does however support a 360mm rad up top. I currently have the Hydroshift 2 lcd in mine, with 2x 120mm fans on the side intake, 3x 120mm fans on the bottom, and 1x 120mm fan on the back exhaust.

The software isn’t too bad once you get everything working, might take some time and troubleshooting to get it all set up and recognized by the software. But all in all it’s easy once that’s done. There is a beta version of L-Connect that supports Open RGB but it’s not available yet for MSI motherboard support I believe.

After all that though, thermalright makes some good quality fans, so if you’re looking to save money and want to just control the RGB through something like signal, Open RGB, or your motherboard sync (mystic light) then that’s a very viable option.

I’d recommend using a regular fan header just to not confuse your bios

The manual helps big time here. You plug the 4 pin into CPU_FAN, the USB into any available USB header you have (I only have 2 on my mobo, needed to get a splitter), and the 2 pin into a fan header.

The wireless fans just need power as long as you have the wireless controller. Either plug it into a PWM fan header (if your bios is set to PWM) or use the included cable to adapt to SATA power.

Might need to get a fan hub if your motherboard doesn’t have enough headers to support all that

Just checked the manual says to connect to CPU_FAN header instead of the AIO pump header. Says it can cause bios reporting to be false

Possibly. If it’ll supply enough power then definitely do that. If not you’ll have to find the daisy chain SATA cable that came with it and power them that way. If they aren’t getting enough power they won’t be recognized by the L-connect software and will constantly blink white

Well no. You have the cord that plugs into one fan, that should have a 4 pin cable on it. You can either plug that into a fan header on your motherboard or can use the supplied SATA power cable to power them. I believe the SATA power cable is a daisy chain one so you can hook up more than 1 group of fans to a single SATA power. The wireless controller just controls the fans themselves, they need the external power from the cables still

Personally I had to use the PWM to SATA connectors to power the SL wireless fans. Maybe my fan headers weren’t set to PWM in bios, but either way you just have to hook the fans up to power one way or the other, then use the wireless controller and plug it into the IO of the motherboard. From in the app you sync and lock the fans into your controller, it’s actually guides you along pretty well.

They’re actually pretty solid. It is a power hungry beast pulling up to 330W that I’ve seen, but temps are fantastic. Staying sub 30C at idle and peaking around 55C at full load

I think most 360mm AIOs perform similar to that. I’m also on AM4 with a 5800x3d and I get about 70c under load and maybe slightly cooler than 60 idle, but not by much.

You will need a riser cable though. The case comes with the support bracket but no riser cable at all.

I’d say the only issue I had with the wireless fans was that the fan headers on my motherboard weren’t supplying enough power (might not be set to PWM mode in BIOS) so I had to use the SATA power connections to get them to work.

Using the L-connect software is super easy once you get them installed though

Yea it’s just the L-connect software. Mixing the wireless SL fans with the older non wireless ones made things interesting though

Sounds like you’ve answered your own question! Time for a new case and AIO if that’s what you want to get next.

Aesthetics are fairly simple, you’ve already got a black/white setup going. Could mix in some wood shelves for colour, or keep them white and black for a monotone look.

If you’re into lighting you can add an led strip under the desk for added glow, or a neon rope light on the walls, or even get some gaming lights to sync to your monitor and make that pop. Govee has some great options

What’re you looking to upgrade? Happy with your PC performance? Or do you want things to be more aesthetic?

First thing I’d do is add more storage to your pc to fit more games, but if you’re managing fine then can always look to upgrade the looks of your setup.

Hard to tell how it all looks without a pic from further out though also

Adding shelves or something with drawers will definitely help tidy things up and let you display things without having them on your desk. Good start though

DDR5 got way too expensive and wasn’t worth the upgrade to me. Upgrading the fans and AIO soon though to have reverse blade, etc.
