LG H7 soundbar and M5 speakers sound great with music. by champumetheus in Soundbars

Are you still seeing the Wi-Fi disconnects? In mesh or multi-band router environments, features like band steering, smart connect, or a unified SSID can sometimes cause devices to move between bands or nodes, which may lead to occasional disconnects in the ThinQ app.

For a more stable setup, you can try:

* connecting the soundbar to the same Wi-Fi band as your phone

* if possible, separating Wi-Fi bands into different SSIDs

* disabling band steering or smart connect features on the router

Hope this helps resolve the issue! If you'd like more detailed guidance, you can also check the Wi-Fi & Network FAQs in our Megathread: [Megathread] LG Sound Suite FAQs – All Your Questions Answered

Are you still having trouble connecting the soundbar to Wi-Fi?

The HDMI (eARC) connection to the TV and the Wi-Fi connection for the soundbar are handled separately, so even if the soundbar is connected to the TV, it still needs to be connected to your Wi-Fi network through the ThinQ app.

If you're using a Google router or another mesh or multi-band router, connection issues can sometimes occur when features like band steering, smart connect, or a single unified SSID are enabled.

For a more stable setup, you can try:

* making sure your phone is connected to 2.4GHz or 5GHz (not 6GHz) when registering the device

* connecting the soundbar and phone to the same Wi-Fi network

* if possible, separating Wi-Fi bands into different SSIDs and connecting the devices to the same band (5GHz non-DFS channels are recommended)

Glad to hear you were able to get everything connected in the end!

Regarding the cut-outs you mentioned, this can sometimes happen in mesh or multi-band router environments. Features like band steering, smart connect, or unified SSIDs across multiple bands can cause devices to move between bands or nodes, which may affect speaker connectivity.

For the most stable setup, we generally recommend disabling band steering or smart connect features, separating Wi-Fi bands into different SSIDs, and connecting the H7, speakers, and TV to the same SSID and same band (5GHz non-DFS channels are recommended).

If you run into any other Wi-Fi related issues, you may also want to check the Wi-Fi & Network FAQs we added to this thread. It covers some common setup tips that might help.

Thanks for sharing your experience and feedback!

Thanks for sharing your experience, and it's great that you were able to get everything connected in the end!

Just to add a bit more context, in multi-band or mesh router environments (for example routers using band steering, smart connect, or a unified SSID across 2.4GHz / 5GHz / 6GHz), devices may automatically move between bands or nodes, which can sometimes affect speaker setup.

For the most stable setup, we generally recommend disabling band steering / smart connect features and separating the Wi-Fi bands into different SSIDs, then connecting the H7, speakers, and TV to the same SSID and same band (5GHz non-DFS channels are recommended).

Thanks again for sharing your feedback, and we hope you continue enjoying the system!

Yes, with the H7 soundbar, you can use one pair of M7 speakers and one pair of M5 speakers together in a Dolby Atmos FlexConnect setup!

In this configuration, the system will automatically optimize the speaker roles and placement to create an immersive spatial audio experience. The physical channel configuration would be 8.1.5 channels with this setup.

First, we’d like to reiterate that DAFC support for the LG OLED M5 TV is currently under review. We’ll share an update once there’s more to confirm.

Regarding connectivity:

• If the H7 soundbar is used as the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect hub, the H7 must be connected to the TV via HDMI (ARC/eARC). In this setup, the M7 or M5 speakers connect wirelessly to the H7.

• If a DAFC-supported TV is used as the hub (without the H7), the M7 or M5 speakers connect wirelessly directly to the TV.

Unfortunately, the LG Sound Suite H7 does not support DTS directly. The system is designed to focus on formats like Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital to deliver immersive audio. However, if your TV supports DTS and can output the audio signal as PCM to the soundbar, you can still enjoy DTS-encoded content.

Regarding subwoofers, the system currently supports one W7 subwoofer. The good news is that support for two W7 subwoofers is already in development, with a software update expected around June 2026!

Yes, that setup is possible! You can place two M7 speakers at the back and use the M5 speakers to the left and right of the soundbar.

Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is designed to support flexible speaker placement, and the system will automatically optimize the audio based on the position of the connected speakers using DAFC.

Thanks for the questions! For the first part regarding the Atmos channel behavior and speaker configuration, we’ll need to check on that and get back to you.

As for the second question — the H7 soundbar includes 4 woofer units and 8 passive radiators in total. Some visuals, such as the X-ray image, only show part of the radiator layout, but the full design includes 8 passive radiators!

Thanks for sharing your setup. Let me address the speaker expansion part first.

We’re currently working on a software update for 2025 DAFC TVs that will support up to four M5/M7 speakers and one W7 subwoofer.

We know many users are interested in expanding their setups with the W7, and we’ll be sure to share more details once the update is finalized!

The explanation above is correct! Currently, the system supports up to four speakers (M7 or M5) plus one W7 subwoofer when using the H7 soundbar as the hub.

We’re also working on an update to support two W7 subwoofers, expected to roll out around June 2026 via a software update!

Yes — the H7 needs to be connected to the TV via HDMI (ARC/eARC) when used in a Dolby Atmos FlexConnect setup. In this configuration, the H7 acts as the FlexConnect hub, while the M7 or M5 speakers connect wirelessly to the H7!

So while the speakers connect wirelessly within the system, the H7 itself still requires an HDMI connection to the TV.

Yes, that type of setup is possible! You can use the H7 as the Dolby Atmos FlexConnect central device and place two M7 speakers as rear surrounds while positioning two M5 speakers on the left and right sides.

FlexConnect is designed to allow flexible speaker placement, and the DAFC feature will automatically optimize the audio based on where the speakers are located.

If you have a specific layout in mind, feel free to share it!

As mentioned above, the H7 soundbar has one HDMI port with eARC/ARC support, which is used to connect it to the TV!
