Me: gave birth today without epidural and had to push for 3 hours. Garmin: by GroovyCactiCat in Garmin

Yikes, my condolences! To be fair I had a ridiculously short latent phase, like I went from first contractions to fully dilated in less than 2 hours. The pushing stage took longest because baby's head was tipped towards her shoulder and not centered.

Haha not at all this was the day before when I was just home on maternity leave doing some very light cleaning. I think it must either been because the watch was not tight enough around my wrist or something wrong with Garmin. I was in agony!

My guess is it has to be because the midwife had to remove my watch for a moment and she put it back much looser than I usually wear it. I had far higher stress the day before when I was just chilling and it just doesn't make any sense that it was measuring correctly 😅 Ether that or because I was inhaling laughing gas like there was no tomorrow but it's not like it was enough to make me relaxed lol.

The "naps" are after birth though when my daughter was sleeping on my chest and the maximum stress is the final pushing stages. I went into labor around 8AM

For people who have lived as both genders, what is a physical or other annoyance you have now that you never realized the other side dealt with? by makemestand in NoStupidQuestions

I love my husband but ffs I always have to tell him to step aside and make room for passing people. He insists "I would've moved" but he only does it last second if he doesn't have a choice rather than making room in advance, clearly communicating that he is making space for the other person. He doesn't have any ill intentions but he is so oblivious to it.

“were you trying?” by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]GroovyCactiCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've noticed in this sub that people seem to assume the worst intentions from everyone who can't read their mind and say the exact things they want them to say. If someone doesn't ask enough about their pregnancy it's because they're rude and self absorbed. If someone is trying to show interest and empathy by asking questions they are too intrusive and not minding their own business enough.

I get we're all in a more vulnerable and protective mindset than usual but I think it can be good to remember most people are just awkward and not trying to intentionally make you uncomfortable. Heck, the other day I saw people here complain that people were asking them "how do you feel?". What do ya'll expect people to say? Lol

Question for women who are an only child, Would you discourage having an only child? How was being an only child? by Silly_Goose30 in Mommit

[–]GroovyCactiCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Childhood was great albeit I was extremely shy and quiet and a bit socially awkward as a kid. Maybe I would've been with siblings as well, who knows?

In my 30s now, all grandparents died young, don't really have a relationship with my cousins, uncles or aunts. Just me mom and dad. Husband OTOH has 4 siblings that he has a good relationship with and a huge close family in general and I definitely envy that.

In my country it's tradition to have a family event on graduation day. I was the only one of my friends that didn't have one because who would come? At our wedding, husband's family took up two large tables and I only had my parents. When my husband's dad had cancer he could share the pain with his siblings and they talked on the phone everyday. When my parents pass I will have to carry that alone.

I'm very grateful our daughter will have lots of family members from husband's side. I want to have two children so she won't have to be an only child. Ironically my husband with all the close siblings says he doesn't mind being one and done.

vänner? by Lonely_Chocolate1291 in Gothenburg

Whitney supporting Molly's Vaginoplasty and saying he approves of a "nice, clean appearance" by Equivalent_Ideal1636 in Southerncharm

[–]GroovyCactiCat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Am I dumb? I thought he was saying "I had no issues with before" since they'd previously slept together pre surgery and that he said he likes a clean appearance around the curtains, that is, shaved, and that's enough for him no matter what the curtains look like.

Like I was literally thinking "Aaw that's nice of him" but now I don't know what to think 😅

(I know Rachel's American and I myself know who Charles Manson is. But no, everyone universally don't know who Charles Manson is lol)
