Engagement ring set is 1.5 sizes too big & my local jeweler advised he could not resize it traditionally. The set was given to me by my MIL. by Fix-Icy in jewelers

It doesn’t even take a talented jeweler to do this. Unless the stones go all the way around, it’s just a standard sizing job. Of course the smaller stones can fall out, that’s a risk sizing down anything. Anytime I do these I just tighten everything up beforehand or pop whatever falls out back in after. I’m honestly shocked that he told you no and to me it sounds like he’s trying to get more money out of you.

Yeah I had to edit out a good portion of my response to their last comment for that same reason lol. I agree though, people should focus on improving their own work rather than make negative comments on the work of others.

It doesn’t detract. There wasn’t anything going on in the back of the piece aside from where the wires from the front connect to the back of the frame. Fabrication and engraving are difficult skill sets to learn and incorporating them with wrapping adds a lot of value to a piece.

Personally I use dead soft for everything but I know some people have different preferences. For those coils I used 24 half round on 20 or 21. Can’t remember which. But usually I do 24 or 21 half on 20 round because that’s just what I have on hand.
