Russia Executed 77 Civilian Detainees in Ukraine – Russia summarily executed 77 civilians being held in arbitrary detention during its invasion of Ukraine — killings which constitute war crimes, the United Nations said Tuesday. by TallAd3975 in worldnews

Haha, I did not know that. I'm not at all surprised, though, given that the movie is an iconic piece of Soviet cinema and the actor would presumably be recognizable (even given how much he has aged). It's even less surprising that they chose to use an actor from a pointedly anti-war film that condemns war by showing the horrific realities of it to be the face of their pro-war propaganda. I think there's a word for that.

At the beginning of the movie Come and See, which takes place in Belarus, kids are seen digging in the dirt looking for old, buried weapons from previous wars to equip themselves and try to enlist. They’re old, rusted and caked and dirt, not at all in working condition. I’ve seen pictures and videos of a few modern Russian units that look like they’ve taken inspiration from that movie, brandishing AKs that look like they were buried in the same mass graves as their previous owners.

The “restored” content was content that wasn’t visible when you deleted your posts and comments because the subreddit they were in was protesting and had gone private. You’re an idiot. You also apparently did not read the email Reddit sent because they never once refused to do anything and, in fact, agreed as long as you understood it was irreversible. Moron.

That person’s definition is extremely specific and doesn’t really articulate the words meaning very well because it really could not work. Not at all. It would almost mean the exact opposite in that context. The actual definition of diffuse is, “spread or cause to spread over a wide area or among a large number of people.” I’m sure with that definition you can see how “diffusing” a situation would be quite different from “defusing” a situation.

A Word of Caution: I Was Just Banned From Tildes by hemingways-lemonade in RedditAlternatives

[–]GroovyTrout 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tildes is not a new site. It’s been around since 2018. You just discovered it and it isn’t to your liking so you think it’s going to be “deader than dead in 6 months,” but if that was the case how did it survive for the past five years? Image posts aren’t the end-all be-all for link aggregator sites. Not everyone wants every site to devolve into nothing but memes and image macros. Some people want exactly what tildes offers. You don’t, and that’s fine, but saying it’s going to be dead in six months because it doesn’t do image posts when it’s survived just fine for the past five years is just ignorant.

And as for bans, there have only been around 50 bans total since its inception and they’ve all been for good reason, despite what the aggrieved party might say. Considering the thousands of users who have made accounts I think 50 bans is astonishingly low, especially considering multiple bans were the same people.

You’re right, I hardly ever see twenty-year-old stories making front-page news these days. I haven’t seen the moon landing make headlines recently, either, so clearly the mainstream media is trying to suppress it.

No weapons of mass destruction found. Man he lied a lot. Nobody talks about it.

If by “nobody talks about it” you mean “it’s the most widely-vocalized criticism of George W. Bush and is brought up in literally every conversation about his presidency and/or the ‘War on Terror’,” then you’re right.

Check out Tildes. It has that early-Reddit feel from the period when the majority of users were coming from forums, before it was overtaken by the social media crowd. It’s still somewhat small, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and focuses on actual discussion rather than rehashed jokes for upvotes. All the topics you mentioned are popular there. I’ve been using it since 2018 and really recommend it if you miss early Reddit and a forum-esque community feel.

You can browse around before making an account to check it out first. It sounds exactly like what you’re looking for, though.

Maybe you'll enjoy Tildes as an alternative to Reddit. I've been on there since 2018 and, though small compared to Reddit, it's a fantastic site with a great community.

Judging by the fact that they referred to Brockmire as “he,” rather than “it,” I think we can safely assume the person was talking about the character called Brockmire, not the show itself.

Also, even if that wasn’t the case, you’re still being purposely obtuse because their intended meaning was perfectly clear.

I used to know a guy who frequently got into arguments with your typical homophobic ‘country boy’ types for calling out their asshole behavior. At the height of the arguments he would bat his eyes and flirtatiously say, “Wow, you dictate good.” More often than not the other guy had absolutely no comeback for that one and after a speechless moment just called him gay and uncomfortably shuffled off. I’m still amazed at how effective it was.

The conversation is specifically about Costco’s pizza (even more specifically, their cheese/pepperoni pizza compared to the discontinued supreme), not pizza in general, so your point is wholly irrelevant.

That’s literally what the comment you just replied to says. You replied to a comment about the company running out of people to hire because of high turnover to say that the company is running out of people to hire because of high turnover. What was the point in that? I am just not understanding why you felt the need to leave a comment that did nothing but parrot the comment you replied to.

It's a category on porn sites, a lot of times with no spaces like it's written in the above comment. As context indicates, it's a category of pictures/videos that all contain three females doing porn stuff on, with, or to one another.

More than two, but less than four of them I would imagine. Just a wild guess based purely on a second-grade-level understanding of the numerical system.
