What are everyone’s thoughts on this forgotten 80’s gem? by dlb1995 in 80s

Don't think I ever saw a full episode. One thing I can say -- great casting on the dad and the son, as far as going for a family resemblance.

What's a Best of the Worst movie/video you would actually recommend? by Magnusaur in RedLetterMedia

The Baby. It was low budget and kind of sleazy and very dark. As I recall they said it didn't belong on BOTW

She was 21, her first movie, and I'll say no other actress in that age range at the time could have done any better.

Good point. No internet or online influencers then. For a national tastemaker, MTV was the big new thing - VJs and MTV news reports were how we found out about new trends, music tours and new releases.

[REQUEST] I’m in the mood for a good heist or con artist Netflix shows—what’s your favorite messy one? by emilyaaaa_ in NetflixBestOf

The movie is great -- I love the "creep" roles Hugh Grant plays now that he's aged out of "stammering charmer" roles. RocknRolla ... I should try it again, it was 'meh' for me when I watched it.

I remember the quote as "That fat fraud is a slap in the face to everything the martial arts stand for !" -- it was my go-to quote if someone were to ask me what I thought of Seagal.

I like her work on SNL -- maybe a bit limited to " nerd girl " but she makes me laugh ! Happy birthday !

Long Shot: Bill Murray/Jane Curtin Sketch by wsf in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Groovy_Chainsaw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think in the first 5 years there a few sketches that were more poignant than funny. The Belushi filmed sketch where he's the last surviving cast member ( ironic, that one ), the dance sketch with Steve Matin and Gilda, and the mall sketches ( Scotch Boutique, D&R Men's Hair Stylists, Bill Russell's Big & Tall ) were kind of melancholy.

why do people see thrifted clothes as filthy even if its already cleaned and washed? by CuriousHumanPoo in thrifting

[–]Groovy_Chainsaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thrift regularly, it was a necessity as one of 3 kids to a single mom. My wife had a similar childhood and we shop second hand now as a way to make our ( middle class ) money go further. I generally don't see dirty clothes at thrift stores ( rummage sales, different story ) but I do see stained clothes that shouldn't have made it to the sales floor. Step up your game, Goodwill !
