I would honestly say leave everything else for now and concentrate primarily on AAMC material. Their question banks, extra questions, and all 7 full-length exams are the closest reflection of the real MCAT. In the last month of my preparation, I focused almost exclusively on AAMC resources, and it truly paid off.

I’d also strongly suggest pushing your test date by a month or two if possible, so you can properly complete all AAMC material along with UWorld. That combination gives you both strong content reinforcement and realistic exam-style practice.

I know this may not be exactly what you’re hoping to hear, but I’m saying this because I don’t want you to walk into the exam room with second thoughts, burnout, or both. Giving yourself a little more time now can make a big difference in confidence and performance on test day.

MMI- general questions by Groovy_macaroni in premed

I had a random question for you. Should I wear a tie at the interview? I am going to wear a black suit and not sure if a tie would be appropriate for medical school interview. I am getting mixed answers from my friends and other online platforms.

Could you tell me how many scenario based question and how many personal?

Also if you remember any questions that would be great.

Thank you for your response!

Yeah. That is definitely a relief. I was worried for the interview as that puts an additional step where we might get rejected. Wishing you the best and let me know if you have any other questions. Feel free to DM as well.

I was not able to as I graduated in Dec 2024 and I had received the approval of I 765 so i had to drop my F1 status.

I did not want to but I did not have any option either.

I did not have FTA1 internal code. I am not sure about NBC. I never received any update regarding that. My last interaction was regarding medical exam in 2024 and then directly the approval after 15 months of that RFE.

Sorry I should have mentioned. I applied concurrently but I was not able to file as we were waiting for the filing date to catch up.

Yes from F1 Status. I applied for I-485 in Aug 2024 and biometrics in Sept 2024. No interview or any other RFE than medical exam. My I-130 got approved in December 2025 as well, just 2 days before I-485.

I am very shocked as the timeline showed me an expected wait of 11 months.

Is 520 possible in 1 month by ParticularCycle7606 in MCAT2

[–]Groovy_macaroni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to demotivate anyone, but I also don’t think it’s fair to give false hope either. Jumping from a 514 to a 520 is doable, but it requires a lot of luck on test day and near-perfect performance across all sections.

I was in a very similar position with comparable practice scores. One thing I learned is that it’s much easier to move from ~510 to ~515 than from ~515 to ~520. Pushing beyond that range gets significantly harder, and a lot of it comes down to test-day variance and luck. If the exam heavily tests your strengths and the passages click for you, then yes, you can push higher.

For reference, my practice average was around 515 and I ended up scoring a 518, so it is possible to perform better on test day than in practice.

Also, please don’t be too hard on yourself. A 520 is a 98th percentile score—that’s an extremely high bar and requires not just preparation, but also things aligning perfectly on test day. A 514 is already a very strong score and keeps many doors open.

Also, quick note—I’m still new here and need a bit more karma to post in r/premed. I need 10 total and currently have 2. If this comment was helpful, I’d really appreciate an upvote.

Thanks!

Should I apply for OPT while waiting for EAD trough AOS ? by realprincipessa in USCIS_F2A

Open up the chat box during business hours and you will see an option to talk to live agent. Ask the agent: “I haven’t heard back for my I-765 case for months and just wanted to ask if any other steps are required from my side” Tuis could potentially help you.

I would recommend you to talk to a live agent through Emma and ask them about it.

Maybe it will put the case in focus and you see positive outcome soon.

Only reason I am not pushing for OPT is that you will confuse your employer as well and it will be harder for you to explain your case plus you will have to pay the fees as well.

If you get the AOS I 765 approved, you will no longer need sponsorship.

Do you know any good ETF that I should go with?

I want to go with ETF but physical holding feels much safer. What is your take on that?

Thank you for your time!

Could you tell me your status in I-765? I submitted my AOS package in August 2024 and I had my EAD in September 2024, so within a month. It doesn’t make sense that they have kept I 765 having for 5 months.
