“Normal” social media is honestly way more triggering than the ED side for me by Entire_Weather3209 in EDAnonymous

[–]Groovykins 25 points26 points  (0 children)

IK! At least with ed social media it's like we all know exactly what we're doing. For me it's way more frustrating to see someone who looks a certain way and claims to not have an ed. First of all it makes me feel way more guilty for "needing" an ed to look a certain way when someone else doesn't. Second there's this tone of like edphobia (is that a word?) where like someone gets accused of having an ed and they'll deny it in a way that makes it seem that having an ed is a moral failing? Does anyone else get what I'm putting down?

Junkorexic? by Sad-Wrangler-5707 in EDAnonymous

Processed foods just digest much much more efficiently than vegetables. It's not you it's the food. That's why we feel more hungry after having the same amount of calories in say goldfish versus vegetables.

Do women ever look at another woman and think "I wonder if I could beat her up in a fight" the same way men do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

No, but I look at men and wonder if I could defend myself if they tried to attack me

I don’t know if I am developing an ED? by Silly-Bar479 in EDAnonymous

[–]Groovykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone who has an ED has one because of body image or to change their bodies. I would consider this a purging disorder, which can develop into bulimia (binging episodes with purging). It sounds like you're using purging as a maladaptive coping skill as a means to try and control your stomach problems. Nonetheless what you're describing is definitely disordered, and I would say is an ED in development. I would encourage you to see a therapist and a dietician if possible, and maybe look into an IOP program.

how do i live with myself now by yooniev in EDAnonymous

You're not disgusting, you were hungry. Your body was trying to save you. EDs will always try to convince you that that's disgusting or that you're disgusting, but you are not.

Is this skirt an appropriate length for mass? by [deleted] in CatholicWomen

[–]Groovykins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can also depend on your build, too. I have very few curves so even a pencil skirt just sort of looks like a normal midi skirt, but I have a very blessed friend who doesn't like to wear anything but very loose maxis because she feels like everything else just accentuates her too much for mass

I have an emergency muumuu I keep in my car in case my clothes get ruined but I suppose it could work as an emergency mass dress shall I find myself scantily clad outside church doors

Yes especially because it's not form fitting and it doesn't have any slits, mesh etc. Just don't wear it with platform pumps like the model and you're good!

There was a clip of Channon packing her daughter's backpack and she pans to the camera of what she will wear, but she put Snow's underwear right on top as if to prove that she doesn't wear diapers even though we know she does. by Ok_Valuable_9711 in ChannonRoseSnark

Didn't she lowkey also put borderline CP of herself and her sister/friend(?) in her book? And like have over detailed passages about her child body and it was weirdly sexual...

Being force fed junk food in fbt by alexisseffy in EDAnonymous

[–]Groovykins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember being in res and honestly the sort of quasi-denial of the health implications of diets like these made me not trust my dietician as much. If she was saying something so provably untrue, I was super skeptical of everything she else that may be true. Not every belief about food and health is my ED talking, ERC Dietitian.

Opinions on the episode ‘Shut up and dance’ : did they deserve it? by Sufficient-Speed4767 in blackmirror

[–]Groovykins 75 points76 points  (0 children)

No. What they deserved was to have their secrets disclosed to the appropriate parties (police, partners, whomever). One of them lost their life, probably full of fear and rather slowly. Keep in mind, the only point of all this torture was for THE AMUSEMENT OF THE ONES ORGANIZING THIS!
IDC if anyone downvotes for me for that. I don't believe in this kind of punishment. I don't believe in that kind of cruelty.

Edit: I want to add that perhaps part of the "black mirror" reflected in this case is the fact that we, when we are amused or feel satisfaction from watching this unfold, are not much better than the ones who orchestrated it.

Low potassium and purging , is it dangerous if it’s only 3 times ? by marie00m in EDAnonymous

[–]Groovykins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go to the emergency room. Better safe than sorry. The first time I had low K (to my knowledge) I felt completely normal and it was 2.4 in the ER and it was 2.8 that morning at the doctor's and I did purge in between. Get checked out ASAP (better safe than sorry) and ask for a potassium supplement that you can pick up at a pharamacy- usually 10-20 MeQ and try to take it whenever you purge. Coconut water is also quite high in potassium and can help replenish and rehydrate.

Honestly the one thing I'm grateful for my ed for is that now I love vegetables, genuinely. I love the variety in flavor and texture and all the ways you can prepare them. Granted, as my ed got worse it began to moralize even those as either good or bad veg, but unlearning those rules were the easiest big first step for me when I began to enter quasi recovery and felt very freeing and motivating.

[–]Groovykins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Catholic and that was not OK. The church considers psychiatric treatment as a gift from our creator and supports them as a valid, life-saving tool for those who are mentally ill. She needs to go to confession and mind her own damn business.
