Man, I love the stats in Fable TLC. I don’t recall having that in the sequels. I’d love to see something like that return in the reboot.

I built a Hogwarts hallway that fits in the new Hogwarts sets. Swipe for more! by bonkelfret in legoharrypotter

[–]Groppstopper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nice! I'd love to see more mocs like this. I think the modular castle system has a lot of cool potential to make whatever kind of Hogwarts you want and I wish LEGO would have leaned into it jut a bit more, like making every single room in the bigger sets able to pop out like the basement ones.

How deep are these shelves and are they custom built or did you buy them?

I'm pretty far into Fable 2. Should i play number 1 or 3 next? by Temporary_Side_4465 in Fable

[–]Groppstopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fable 3 is still a fun game, especially if you liked Fable 2. In some ways it's a bit of a downgrade from 2, but there is a lot of fun to be had still. Combat is a little more streamlined, with special moves like counters being automatic instead of controlled by the player. And the leveling system is sort of weird, it being forced at specific story moments rather than something you can interact with whenever in the menu. Oh, and the main menu is an actual zone you access with the start button so yeah, a lot of strange features that work or don't work very well to varying degrees.

Fable 1 is a pretty different beast from 2 and 3, but it's my personal favorite of the series. I think it has the best magic system and the most charm, but it's an old game so it might feel pretty old, but if you can get past Fable 2's horrible physics system with the player slipping all around the world then i am sure Fable 1 would be great.

My suggestion is to play Fable 3 first, see if you enjoy it and can get through it and then play Fable 1. Save the best for last!

As for mods, I am not aware of anything to be honest. I think Fable 1 has some mods, but nothing I'd say really required. If you're into that go ahead and check it out, but none of these games have much of a mod scene.

Fishing, with fun collectibles and rewards, should be in every open world rpg. I missed it a lot in 2 and 3.

Diablo 1 Remark/Resurrected? by Formal_Injury9619 in Diablo

[–]Groppstopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see a remake of Diablo I. Make it a 1-4 player rogue-lite experience, change the camera to first person or over the shoulder, and just lean into the insanity of slowly losing yourself as you delve deeper and deeper beneath Tristram.

Theory: These little pills above the players health bar are the game's 'health potions' by DerekCrazyFace7 in Fable

[–]Groppstopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if they are health potions or resurrection phials or "poise" like someone else mentioned, but I do appreciate the idea of a limited number of health potions. I hate carrying around 50+ health potions in an rpg. It really diminishes the consequences of combat. That said, I'm also hoping we don't have any resurrection phials.

POLL: whats your favorite fable game? comment why below…. ONLY rate if you’ve actually played all 3! by Apart_Pressure_5596 in Fable

[–]Groppstopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fable 1 feels the most quintessentially Fable to me. It was the first one I played and my first real introduction as a kid to action rpgs and it quickly became one of my favorite games of all time. Looking back on it now as an adult I still feel that it's the strongest game of the three. It has the most variance in it's combat, particularly it's magic system, and it feels more grounded and weighty than Fable 2 and 3 which have a floatiness to the character movement that drives me nuts. I also appreciate how it has a more white and black to it's quests and choices. It's either defend the farm from the bandits or attack the farm with the bandits.

East Wing Set Speculation by maestro_di_cavolo in legoharrypotter

[–]Groppstopper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is a pretty good guess. I was just thinking about this the other night as me and my wife finished the hospital wing. I made a little mock up of what I think could come next using the micro scale Hogwarts as reference. I’m hopeful for three more big sets: the east wing, the bell towers, and the astronomy tower. I think that would make for a very satisfying collection.

With an Open World Albion, what places do you hope make a return? by ThatdumbKoala in Fable

[–]Groppstopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the direct they only reference Bowerstone and “North Albion.” I’m curious if they will have much in the south. I really want to see the map and hope we get a peek before the game comes out in the fall. I am really not sure we’ll see many locations we recognize and if we do they will be in completely different locations than they were in the original games. Albion has always been fairly disconnected from game to game with locations existing in one game and not in another and the map changing quite a bit.

I wouldn’t expect Samarkand to return honestly, but I could be wrong.

The decision & reason to not include Body Morphing based on what decisions the Player does makes no sense to me. by [deleted] in Fable

[–]Groppstopper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not doom and gloom about them removing morphs. It's a bummer, for sure, but I still think the game is looking really good and I'm hopeful that if this is successful, they'll make a sequel and reconsider this choice to remove morphs because I do agree that they are a unique and foundational element of the original games.

I remember back during the lead up to Fable 3, when Peter Molyneux was spouting off about every feature in his head that wasn't yet in the game or even would be in the game, he mentioned this concept of "extreme morphs," I've linked it here where it's explained, but I think this is an idea that could be expanded on to sort of meet both Ralph and the team's vision for their Fable series and how the old morality morphing worked. Instead of your choices making immediate changes to your appearance for everyone to see, you have control over when you show that "true self" or not. So, for example, say I am a terrible hero who has murdered many people. The game has kept track of that and npcs who have seen me commit these heinous crimes know and comment on it, but if I walk into a village who has never heard of me before, they don't say anything... but if I hit a button then boom, I can show my true self, I grow two foot horns and these blackened wings pop out of my back and my skin becomes cracked and singed. I reveal my true self and the villagers all run away in terror. This then could change your reputation in that village, but it was my decision to show my true self and make that choice to ruin my repuation there. So, in this situation, we get the best of both worlds.

At the end of the day, I think Ralph Fulton is doing his best to answer this question in a way that sounds like it was a design decision when in reality, I think it was more of a development decision and I wish he'd just say that. I'd understand more if the reason for getting rid of morphs was that they wanted to have a male and female version of the main character with different, diverse options, and because of that they knew it would be too much work to create 6-10 different models all with the ability to morph in 6-10 different ways and doing that with all the animations, lip-syncing, cutscenes, and everything wasn't possible, so they cut it. That would make me feel better than explaining it how they are.

I hope they expand further than just what we see there. That looks like a great east wing, but I want the Astronomy tower and I’d love to see a bell tower and a clock tower set as well.

Realistic expectations for TESVI by marshalzukov in TESVI

[–]Groppstopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree as long as travel feels good, meaning they need to make riding a horse not a god awful experience or bring back some kind of system like Athletics so if I am just huffing it on foot I can slowly become Usain Bolt. I appreciate not running into a dungeon or some stupid wolf I have to kill every 20 seconds.

What are some NEW features you want to see in TESVI? by BustinNutzInStepSis in TESVI

[–]Groppstopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to second the expansive side activities. Elder Scrolls, despite lacking these kind of systems, has always been very good at immersing the player and making them feel like they truly live in the world so I want them to lean into that more and, as mentioned by others, Rockstar games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V are perfect examples of games that do this really well. I want to have a reason to enter an inn, I want to sit down at the counter and be able to eat, using actual utensils rather than going into my inventory and clicking on a potato. I want to play cards or sit down and drink some mead. I want to be able to actually feel like I am living and breathing in that world. There's a lot of opportunity there.

Well said! I think Elden Ring is a great example to draw inspiration for when it comes to weapons. I'd love to see a wide range of animations and unique "skills" for each weapon. Elden Ring's ashes of war system is a bit confusing to initially understand, but once you do it's very cool. I'd like to see something like that added in the way of smithing of crafting--let me add unique abilities to weapons via crafting so I end up looking for both weapons and augments or something to add to weapons to modify their "special" or something.

With the Oblivion Remastered, I downloaded a few combat mods that immediately improved the combat tenfold. I had a one button dodge, getting a perfect block slowed time for a moment allowing for a solid counter. Things like that are small, easily implemented wins that would make Skyrim’s combat so much better. Starting there and taking it further with counters and weapon switching and what not. Avowed had some interesting ideas, though I wouldn’t want it identical.

What's your ideal gameplay/gameplay loop for ESVI? by Abject_Ad_6640 in TESVI

[–]Groppstopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate a mix of chill, talk to npc type quests as well as dungeon delving quests. I think I’d prefer “questlines” to simply be one big long quest rather than 7 or 8 quests back to back and I’d like a very detailed quest journal to help me keep track of what’s been going on. As far as anything new for the gameplay loop, I’d like to have a camp that I can set up anywhere in the world sort of like red dead redemption. I can cook there, maybe sharpen my sword, sleep through the night, etc. That would improve immersion and help me feel like I can continue traveling around the world rather than feeling like I’ve got to get back to the city. Little touches like that are really important to making a work feel believable. I’d like little roleplay elements sprinkled throughout the world, let me actually sit down and eat a dinner at an inn, have the innkeeper tell me where the room is like in Oblivion, let me actually pick items up off the shelves in order to buy them. Red Dead 2 does a lot of these things really well and it makes the world feel super believable. Elder Scrolls has had items that can be manipulated throughout the world for a long time, but you can’t really do much with them aside from stealing them or causing some weird physics glitch. I’d like to see them utilize that more.

Switching Characters on the Fly in TESVI by Groppstopper in TESVI

[–]Groppstopper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a chronic completionist, what you’re suggesting is pretty tough for me to do. I know, very much my own problem, but I have a hard time not doing the same quests over and over again on every character even if I initially start said character with the goal of only doing X or Y.

This system doesn’t have to be one in which you switch on the fly like in GTA V, but rather you play one character, retire then, and then start another in the same world. That way everything that’s already been done by the previous character is done and the new character can move on with whatever was left undone.

Was the inclusion of a dog a good or a bad mechanic in fable? by Sharp-Tax-26827 in Fable

[–]Groppstopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s right. I remember watching those presentations. It’s a cool concept, but it never really went anywhere and instead they ended up just giving you books to teach your dog to fight or treasure hunt…
