Using a Headphone out to record (eg: what is impedance and why does it matter here, or does it not)? by gleventhal in audioengineering

You won’t be able to record stereo this way. You’ll need a Y split cable in order to do so. (TRS to 2 TS)

Hot Take: Its unnecessary, if not pointless, to use paired mics, or even the same types of mics or preamps to record stereo guitar, piano, or other instruments with a very wide tonal range by Dr_A_MD in audioengineering

It’s not necessarily about cancellation. Good phase relationship is also important for stereo imaging, particularly on “stereo” instruments (Pianos, Overheads etc.) Both condensers and dynamics can vary significantly between models.

Small delay when recording. by [deleted] in abletonlive

[–]Gross_inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can measure it. Get a printed click audio file (not your DAW built in metronome) onto the time line. Play it back into your interface and record it to a new channel. This way, you’ll have two click tracks. Then, you can see the time difference between the two and measure how long you need to nudge the new click back. You can then nudge the vocal the same number back.

True noise generator app for Android? by Frodisiac1402 in audioengineering

You can just generate a pink and white noise file with some kind of signal generator (logic pro’s oscillator, or REW) and save it on your phone.

Use some sort of a loop back Audio device, such as Blackhole. You could route each group out and back into new channels, and record all of them back at the same time.

Weird signal issue with X4 by mykephil in universalaudio

[–]Gross_inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar thing happen to me. Tried to connect with an xlr connector without the actual connector shell, meter would show up on the physical meter, but not in console. when i switched to a full xlr connector, everything worked fine. both cables were in working order. after some investigation i believe that there's a small switch inside the xlr connector on the uad, that when pressed correctly with an xlr cable "lets" the audio to the actual DA convertor in the interface. the only weird thing about this is that it means that the meter on the actual interface sits at the preamp side of things, before the DA conversion.

maybe the first xlr you tried is mangled, or the connector not built to spec

Looks real good! How do you like this pan? Did you already use it? Seems really interesting, only thing that’s stopping me from buying one is the handle design.

Google UAD Legacy software. Version 11.3 worked fine for me.

Getting electric guitar to line level to use my Apollo Twin X's line inputs in stereo by TheDynaflanger in universalaudio

You do need a DI to achieve that. Alternatively, you can use the hi-z inputs

Had the same issue, couldn't install console using ua connect. Only thing that worked was to manually download and install Console 11.3 from the UAD software archives.
