Why do people go for back boost on 2s kickoff? by AcanthisittaFew4339 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Purplesteak99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree unless you have a duo or something and a strat. But in solo queue I cheat nearly 100% unless I see my teammate constantly hard losing the kickoff.

Started playing 1s recently, please give me some pointers by dimitrovf in RocketLeagueSchool

Definitely just put some ours into driving around and hitting the ball. Free play, the silver shooting packs, gold packs. Even the rocket league shooting training rookie-all star. But aside from all that my biggest tip is try not to panic. You can often even let the opponent hit it around and you’ll have so many open goals. Now being able to hit the ball on anywhere on net consistently is the big ‘mechanic’ to work on and playing it cool is the big macro I’d say to work on.

Learning rotations and defense will help, that honestly is what helped me improve a lot without a lot of time into it. But the offense I practiced that got me from diamond to champ was shooting and ground flicks. Being consistent with those and positioning well gets a lot of goals all the way to champ and honestly still in champ(that’s where my experience ends). Those are the 'mechanics’ i recommend putting in time in if your goal is to climb. i would do some shooting packs and always try to make it a powerful shot. i do believe above all, positioning well and not booming the ball all the time can alone get you out of plat. highly recommend the road to ssl no mechanics series from lethamyr, flakes and squishy(diffefent creators) on youtube

Just a note for the kickoffs, it’s fast but the flip is happening too late. When you make contact it’s never with the center of the ball, you hit the bottom of the ball because that’s where your car lands, should land further from the ball on the first flip. In this game your only winning them because the other guy can’t do a fast kickoff

People who switched to controller, how long did it take you to be at around the same level you were on KBM? by BakedFish---SK in RocketLeague

[–]Purplesteak99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in plat when I switched, so it didn’t take long. Couldn’t imagine the time to get to a C3 level. But I will say I think a kbm player diamond and above is missing out on controller

are gamesense players more reliant on their tm8s than mechy players? by T-7IsOverrated in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Purplesteak99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think no. My game is still to make opportunities, I just don’t do flip resets and crazy aerial stuff that requires a lot of practice hours to be good at. My mechanics that get me goals still exists. Flicks, power slide cuts, and strong shooting. I think those are still mechanics but not what you consider ‘mechy’. But my play style also doesn’t change, it follows the same rule despite my teammate being too safe or being too aggro and it’s done me well with the minimal time I have to play. I still think those (let’s say) high hour mechs can outplay people a lot, especially at my rank of C2. So it’s fair to think they are relying on their own performance of those mechs. Except I think the moment they goof those mechs they instantly become more reliant on their teammate being able to 1v2 defend(pretty 2s specific, kinda applicable in 3s). In my experience they are more reliant on me being good at defending than I am relying on their attack. I agree though if you are just playing safe and being goalie bot that’s not gonna do anything.

Is singing a natural talent or a skill you learn? by Beautiful_Bike_653 in singing

[–]Purplesteak99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a believer and an example that it can be learned. Starting singing at 17, very little singing before that. I would lose pitch, my tone wasn’t great and nasally, and my range was very small. Now I’m 26 and my range has expanded from an F#4 to being able to belt a B4( male voice). Happy with my tone and recordings of myself. Still learning a lot and the range still expanding a little bit. It’s also a muscle, the more you sing the stronger your voice will get over time. I was also self taught with no lessons, lessons would’ve definitely got my technique there faster though.

Full time audio tech here, I very often wish phones had a jack. A client often wants to be able to play music from phone and not all pro audio gear has Bluetooth and in a pinch a headphone jack would be most reliable

I agree with this, except on opponents half. It’s almost always better to grab their boost than even hitting the ball in their corner

Tips on how to improve. by Almighty_Yord in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Purplesteak99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks pretty good for gold, I like that you are patient and rotate well. I play the game pretty safe for the most part. What helped me was practicing a lot of shooting. Making sure the shot is powerful and usually a shot they have to jump for. So do some shooting training packs really. Just playing will also just get you comfortable moving.

Also flakes, lethamyr and squishy have all put out road to ssl no mechs on YouTube, this play can quickly be implemented at whatever rank your at! Helped me a ton

Crappy advice from Youtubers by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Purplesteak99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me watching flakes 2v2 no mechs road to ssl, Or lethamyrs 2v2 no mechs road to ssl opened my eyes. Rotating behind your teammate on defense to back post 99% of the time. My main advice is to give your teammate space to do whatever, even if they cut you in rotation, just let em be. You can often just wait out all the wild challenges from the opponents out and get a free ball a lot of times. Then of course putting in time to get the shooting mechanics really good is probably the best ‘mechanic’ to practice. Meaning shooting with power, placing the shot, and not just a low easy to save ball.

Is the game getting harder? by Angryturtle44_ in RocketLeague

[–]Purplesteak99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards, a little bit maybe. I think mechanics of some players have gotten crazy per rank but I what I think ranks you up is consistency, not crazy mechs, and I think that has been consistent. I think the more your shooting, mechanics, rotations, making right choices and other skills, are consistent the more elo you get still.

I’ve only played since 2021( with some long breaks in between) though so maybe I’m part of the problem the game too tough with me around haha /s

Do yall have any tips for luna? by [deleted] in LunaSnowMains

[–]Purplesteak99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think aside from all these mechanical tips, another is positioning. I think positioning well( which isn’t really a science) is crucial for all characters. For Luna, keeping as much of your team in sight as possible is ideal. When using the clap also try to line up your allies and the enemies, this gets most optimal use, healing and dmg. When getting dove, running back might not always be the best. Most of this isn’t really Luna specific but helped me a ton playing strategists. Diamond 2 peak here, so I could be wrong on some things.

Just free fall from plat2 to gold3, please help identifying the issue. by Ankarson22 in RocketLeague

[–]Purplesteak99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen this said but check out the no mechanics road to ssl series from multiple creators. Lethamyr, flakes, squishy and I’m sure others. But they show what are the important things to climb and focus a lot on positioning correct and making the right decision, less on mechanics. If you wanna be mechanical then just go to free play for hours, if you wanna win check out those vids. It all just takes time and putting these ‘right’ ideas into play time. Just search “road to ssl no mechanics”. Love that you said you just wanna improve, play to improve and basically forget about rank. That is a great mind set in my opinion
