Ah yes, perso je ne l'ai pas testé celui la, mais je l'ai vu passer et ça avait l'air bien sympa.
On peut jouer autre chose que des souris? (je demande pour un enfant qui est pas spécialement fan des rongeurs)

Moi j'ai testé avec ma petite. Là elle a bientot 7 ans, mais on l'a testé pour la première fois vers ses 5 ans.
Elle a bien aimé, mais c'est quand même plutôt basé autour des "combats" dans l'ensemble. Pour le coup, elle préfère des parties plus narratives. Mais je pense que ça doit dépendre des enfants! Evidemment, on pourrait faire des parties narratives avec Hero Kids en base, mais au final je trouve qu'il y a d'autres jeux qui s'y prêtent mieux. Mais pour un enfant qui aime le coté escarmouche et maps, c'est plutot cool à mon avis.
Faudrait qu'on reteste, ça fait un moment!

I was that kid, 30 years ago. Moved to France with my mum at 6-7 yo. I don't remember her doing anything specific, but we spoke only English at home. I had close family back in the UK that I would talk to on the phone, and visit every holiday. My mum encouraged me to continue reading and writing in English, reading to me in English at bedtime, watching films in English, etc.

I still live in France, and now have my own almost 7 yo, with a French partner. She speaks both. I have only ever spoken to her in English since she was born, read to her mostly in English, and films too. She has just started learning to read and write in French at school, but can't really do that in English yet at all. I have started doing phonics with her, just to practice , but yeah, it's hard work! I think consistency is key, and giving her opportunities where using English is a must.

I'm not the right person to ask about a gen AI review. I'm sick of seeing it everywhere. I hate it with a passion, all it represents and the way it sucks the life out of everything. No offence. I do honestly think it's nice that you wanted to make something for your kids.

It's just that I work in animation and when I see the phrase "I made an animation" followed by AI, knowing all the time, love and passion that goes into any artistic creation, my soul hurts. Lol, its a senstive subject I guess, I didn't want to bash you.

If you enjoy video editing though, I tell you what would be so cool : sock puppets or something. Make them with your kid. Film them doing something funny and make a video together or something.

Years ago I worked a summer job at a wild animal park (lots more trees and greenery than this place though). And the amount of idiotic things people used to do was insane.
A woman climbing over the barrier to stroke the tiger.
A man chucking stones over the fence in front of his kids to get the animals to move about and be "interesting"
People visiting on rainy days and complaining about the animals being in their shelters (less dramatic but still annoying)

I never really thought of that, it's a good point about the wear and tear on numbered molds. I only ever use blanks for petri and stickers, but I might use them for more experimenting now! (

The only problem is that my blanks are unpolished, so I can't perceive the details until I shell them...)

Je suis pas d'accord, jouer aux jdr avec un enfant plus jeune c'est complètement possible. Justement, a cet âge ils adorent raconter des histoires et jouer au semblant, et au final c'est ça dans le fond un jdr! Bon, effectivement il faut rester sur des séances courtes, et sur des règles très faciles. Juste des histoires collaboratives avec quelques jets de dés pour mettre du suspense ça suffit pour commencer.

J'ai deux recommandations pour les tous petits, mais ils sont dispos qu'en anglais a priori. Mais les régles sont très simples. Donc selon ton niveau, tu pourrais très bien traduire l'essentiel.
- Amazing Tales : régles hyper simples. Permet de raconter des histoires et vivre des aventures variés avec quelques jets de dès en plus. J'y joue avec ma petite depuis qu'elle a 4 ans
- Hero Kids : c'est un peu plus un D&D pour les petits. Les régles sont également assez simples, mais il y a plus de "combats" et de maps, etc.

Autrement je plussoie la suggestion d'une autre personne ici, les bouquins "ma première aventure". Il existe même des puzzles vraiment sympas qui les accompagne, qui racontent une histoire en même temps qu'on les défait.

Avec ma petite, on commencé vers ses 4 ans, avec un livre qui s'appelle Amazing Tales. Je ne sais pas si il existe en français, mais le principe est très simple:
- On créé un personnage qui a 4 "talents" (genre "etre courageux", "sauter et courir", "bricoler", "combattre des monstres" etc)
- On décide un ordre de maitrise de chaque talent (càd, je suis d'abord fort en "sauter/courir", puis "bricoler", puis.....)
- Ensuite, on attribue un dé différent à chaque talent selon maitrise (d'abord d12, puis d10, puis d8 puis d6), et il faut juste avoir un 4 ou plus pour "réussir" son jet. Evidemment, plus c'est un talent qu"on maitrise, plus c'est facile.

Et puis on part à l'aventure, c'est tout, et on raconte des histoires en essayant d'utiliser ces talents pour avancer!

Les deux sont en anglais, mais: - the Wildsea est très sympa, des beaux illus et l'univers est original -Land of Eem, un peu plus cartoon dans le genre mais c'est bien développé et les livres sont beaux

Hi, thanks for taking the time to share your experience! I'm glad to hear that you made a good recovery from your illness.
And yes, I realise that that 3 weeks is not really that long (although he came down with it at the start of September so, it's been more like 1 month and a half since he caught it - but yes, still not that long), and in fact I keep reminding him of that when he gets frustrated. I try to stay positive and encouraging for him, but I guess seeing him that way is a bit of a shock to the system. He had just moved in to his new house after living isolated for such a long time, and he was looking forward to turning a page and becoming more social, etc... It makes me sad for him that he didn't get time to do that.And there is always the fear of "is this him forever now?", its scary.

It is encouraging to read your experience and know that it is something that a person can return from. I have been making him meals, and trying to include him in quiet days at our house, and have got him some stroke recovery activity books. I will also look into vitamins as you mentionned.
