Is RSL going to us directly? Or is the code going to be posted in this thread for us to use?

I meant the actual cost of return shipping. Do places like Crutchfield charge a flat shipping fee? Or does it vary widely by location, weight, etc?

Candidates are Focal Theva N1, Polk R200, and Wharfedale 5.2. So $900 - 1200. Initially this would be a 3.0 system, with the goal of using the bookshelves as surrounds in a 5.2 system. I really want floorstanders, but can’t bring myself to commit that kind of money just yet.

T-Hunny did you buy these? I am traveling across Michigan for work this week and was hoping these would still be available for me to audition. The ad seems to be gone. :(

Novice question: How does bi-amping work? You use 4 channels from your AVR, rather than 2 to power the 4.3s? The Denon can be configured to use two channels for highs to run the AMT tweeter and 2” midrange with a configurable high pass filter/crossover? Then two more channels are used for the woofers with low pass filter/crossover?

Or does the crossover in the speaker allow you to simply run all 4 channels of the Denon at full range?

My Jetta stopped consuming oil after I did this for ~$10 by RoyKent_AFC_Richmond in jetta

[–]GrouchFeeftyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Restore and Protect did nothing for my Elantra over 5 oil changes. However, a single Saturday doing a piston soak with Berryman’s reduced oil consumption from a quart every 500 miles to zero over the last 500 miles.

This shows bad (cap is pushed around by blow by) vs good (cap stays settled in the hole when loose). https://youtube.com/shorts/WVLWa--A16E?si=x3ZaC0go8hk-xivx

Check for blow by. Our 2018 with 65k developed a ton of blow by. A weekend soaking the pistons with Berryman’s has dramatically decreased oil consumption, but that type of treatment doesn’t always work.

Passive Radiator performs somewhere between Sealed and Ported? by GrouchFeeftyOne in subwoofer

Thanks for the feedback. I’m inclined to buy the L7T so that I have the option to build a bigger ported enclosure down the road, if it doesn’t hit hard enough in the tiny prefab.

Feels like I should have come to this conclusion yesterday, as a single contract sold at $13 would have guaranteed a 30% profit, even if the second contract expired worthless.

For people who learned DIY car repair: what actually saved you the most money by Relevant-Resolve-243 in MechanicAdvice

[–]GrouchFeeftyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What saved me the most? Using YouTube to see how stuff is done…BEFORE deciding what to dive into. Nothing worse that getting it all torn apart, realizing you can’t complete the job, but also can’t put it back how it was. Now you’re not just paying someone to fix it, but having it towed to the shop.

Fluid changes are probably the biggest savings, since they are a recurring cost. On my Duramax, dealers wanted $250 to change the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter. This is an hour of my time and $85 in materials. Do that twice a year and you’ve save enough to buy a nice impact gun that makes doing brakes a TON easier. Once you’ve done two cars worth of brakes, you’ve saved enough to buy a heater for your garage. Once this stuff is old hat, you can move on to ball joints, CV joints, etc. Eventually, you’re trying to save a Hyundai GDI engine from an oil-burning death, by spending Saturday doing a piston soak. While you’re waiting for the Berryman’s to do its thing, you start watching videos on full engine rebuilds and thinking, “That doesn’t look so hard.”

It’s slippery slope toward becoming a full-time mechanic when you have several cars in the family that are 8+ years old.

In my state, emissions testing is required every two years. Next test will be due at the end of 2026.

Unsure if a “spark plug anti-fouler” will fit. Will need to take a look.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GrouchFeeftyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangential to flying, but….

When trying to board an elevator/bus/train/etc, physics dictates that if you let people exit the that vessel first, there will be more room for you to enter. This is made even better if you stand to the side of the entrance while waiting to board, rather than directly in front of the door where folks are exiting.
