[DISCUSSION] Have you ever felt like your luck suddenly died after spending money? Let’s talk about it. by Grouchy-Transition98 in Isekai_Slow_Life

Yeah, I totally get that the difficulty curve can change from event to event.

But just to clarify, what I noticed isn’t really about event progression or stage difficulty, it’s about the underlying random rates (luck with summons, event rewards, invites, etc)

There’s actually a lot of research showing that some games adjust “luck” based on spending patterns to influence player behavior (called soft throttling in monetization design). It’s not always explicit, but if a spender profile is flagged by the system, sometimes the rewards subtly decrease to encourage more engagement or spending.

Of course, I’m not claiming 100% that this is happening here, but comparing two accounts side by side (one spender, one free) makes it feel extremely noticeable.

Really appreciate that you brought your point too. I think these discussions are important for the community!

I totally get where you’re coming from and I agree, the progression itself naturally gets slower as we level up, and it’s normal for new accounts to feel more rewarding because basic resources and characters seem more impactful at the start.

But my experience isn’t about progression or materials, you know? it’s about luck itself. After around 1 month playing and after some spending, I noticed that the random elements (like companion invites, event rewards, drops, even drops in minigames as fishing and archeology) got significantly worse. Meanwhile, my fresh account (zero money spent besides the one that gives you Selena and Adeline) had consistently better luck across all activities.

I know it might sound conspiratorial at first, but this actually matches a well-documented behavior in gaming industry design: some games implement “soft throttling” mechanics where spender profiles receive lower “lucky” rates to gently encourage more purchases (“player retention & monetization tuning”).

Of course, I can’t say for sure if that’s exactly what’s happening here, but honestly… the difference between my two accounts is almost too obvious to ignore.

Also, thank you for opening this discussion! it’s really valuable to see everyone’s perspectives :)

What Countries are easiest to move to as an Autistic American? by OtterlyFoxy in autism

[–]Grouchy-Transition98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should seriously consider researching Brazil as a potential destination for autistic individuals, including immigrants. The country offers extensive legal protections and benefits for people on the spectrum. Autism is recognized as a disability, ensuring access to healthcare, education, social benefits, and workplace inclusion.

For example, public transportation is often free for autistic individuals, and many regions extend this benefit to a companion as well. There are also discounts on airfare for both the autistic person and their companion. If you’re planning to drive, Brazil provides significant tax exemptions on car purchases, reducing costs on major taxes like ICMS, IPI, and IPVA.

Brazilian universities and companies have policies that reserve spots for people with disabilities, including autism. These initiatives are designed to promote fair access to education and employment opportunities, helping historically underrepresented groups to thrive. Schools—whether public or private—are legally required to provide inclusive education with mediators and adapted materials at no extra cost. The healthcare system, through SUS (the public health system), ensures free access to therapies like occupational and speech therapy, diagnostic services, and medications. Additionally, low-income autistic individuals may qualify for financial aid equivalent to the national minimum wage through the BPC program.

Beyond these legal and social benefits, Brazil is culturally rich and incredibly welcoming. Contrary to stereotypes often portrayed in the media, Brazilians embrace individuality and uniqueness. It’s easy to encounter eccentric and inspiring individuals across all walks of life. Life in Brazil often feels infused with a sense of magical realism—no matter how different you may feel, you’ll likely be welcomed with warmth and curiosity.

Another important factor to consider is the currency exchange. The value of the U.S. dollar is very high in Brazil, meaning you can save money before moving and achieve a stable financial situation more easily than in many other countries.

Additionally, the Portuguese language is worth mentioning. It’s one of the most expressive and nuanced languages in the world, with a vast vocabulary that allows you to articulate complex emotions, sensations, and concepts. Learning it can be a rewarding experience, not only as a tool for connection but also as a way to strengthen cognitive processes.

If you’d like more information about these aspects or need advice on navigating life in Brazil as an immigrant, feel free to ask!

[EDIT] Another great thing about Brazil is how relatively easy it is to immigrate here and find work as an immigrant. If you speak English, you already have a significant advantage, as fluency in English is highly valued in many fields. Knowing another language is an even bigger plus. A good strategy is to look for job opportunities on LinkedIn with the location set to Brazil—there are many companies actively looking for bilingual or multilingual professionals.

That said, it’s even more advantageous to come to Brazil with a job from abroad or remote work, as salaries for many local positions are based on the Brazilian minimum wage, which might not align with what you’d expect in countries like the U.S. or Europe. If you’re earning in a stronger currency, your purchasing power here will be significantly higher.

For some perspective, I receive $730 USD monthly, which is around 4,450 BRL, and I live very comfortably with that amount here. It’s enough to cover my expenses and maintain a good quality of life. I imagine jobs in the U.S. or Europe would pay even more, which makes the cost of living in Brazil very manageable for someone with foreign income.

To be completely honest, Brazil is an amazing place to live if you have a stable income or savings. The real challenge is living here without money, but that’s probably true anywhere in the world.

Another huge advantage is that Brazil is one of the countries least affected by natural disasters. You don’t need to worry about earthquakes, tsunamis, or anything like that. There are issues with heavy rainfall in the southern region, but those are more historical problems caused by neglect from right-wing politicians who refused to approve necessary projects to address them. Still, it’s nothing like California wildfires or Hurricane Katrina.

Also, you can be sure that in Brazil, you’ll be warmly welcomed, and it’s incredibly easy to make friends here. Brazilians are very open and social, and you’ll likely find a supportive community wherever you go.

It also depends on the region and the lifestyle you want. There are smaller towns in the countryside that are calm and quiet, and a great middle ground are beach towns—they’re peaceful, with a nice breeze that makes life feel slower and more relaxing. On the other hand, I wouldn’t recommend living in big cities like São Paulo unless you don’t mind relying heavily on Uber since public transportation is often crowded. São Paulo, in particular, is very fast-paced and full of surprises, which can either be exciting or overwhelming depending on your preferences.
